Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to analyze the form of intercultural communication that occurs through the digital work "Namoy Budaya" in its representation of Jamaican culture in the digital space. As a musician and DJ who blends elements of electronic music with Jamaican cultural values such as freedom, peace, and solidarity, 'Namoy Budaya" is a true example of cross-cultural communication practices in the era of digital globalization. The approach of this research is qualitative descriptive with in-depth interview techniques on "Namoy Budaya" as cultural communicators and some of their active followers as message recipients. Analysis was also carried out on digital content on social media to understand communication strategies and forms of cultural adaptation displayed. The results of the study indicate that “Namoy Budaya” employs three main intercultural communication strategies in the digital environment: the use of reggae music as a medium of cultural adaptation, visual symbols inspired by Jamaican identity combined with local Indonesian elements, and interactive digital narratives through social media engagement. The study also found that followers interpret “Namoy Budaya” as a representation of cultural hybridity, freedom of expression, and an alternative medium for global cultural education. These findings demonstrate how digital media facilitates the negotiation of global and local cultural identities in contemporary intercultural communication. This research confirms that intercultural communication in the digital space is not just an exchange of symbols, but also a creative process of building understanding and harmony between global and local cultures.

Abstract

This study analyzes Fery Irwandi's persuasive communication style in the video "Dismantling the Lies of Santet and Indigo," focusing on message delivery strategies, communicator credibility, and audience response. The research aims to understand how persuasive communication can be used to dismantle myths and irrational beliefs that remain entrenched in society. The method used is qualitative, with a content analysis approach, based on in-depth observation of the verbal and nonverbal content displayed in the video. The study's results show that Fery Irwandi uses a combination of rational and emotional strategies to convey messages. Rationally, he emphasized the importance of critical thinking and of proving, through simple logic, the unsubstantiated claims of Santet and Indigo. Emotionally, he stirs the audience's feelings by highlighting the negative effects of mystical beliefs, such as social fear, conflict, and deception. The communicator's credibility is strengthened by serious expression, firm intonation, and consistent argument, making the message more trustworthy. The findings of this study are in line with persuasive communication theory, which emphasizes the importance of integrating rational, emotional, and credibility factors with the audience. In conclusion, effective persuasive communication not only conveys arguments but also builds critical literacy and encourages changes in people's mindsets.

Abstract

The family serves as the foundational environment for instilling religious practices in children. This study was prompted by the increasing prevalence of digital technology use, which often distracts children from their worship routines, thus requiring adaptive parental communication strategies. The primary objective of this research is to identify and describe various family communication patterns and their specific impacts on children's religious behavior in Durian Luncuk Village, Batanghari Regency, Jambi. This study employed a qualitative field research method with a descriptive approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, direct observation, and documentation involving families with children aged seven to twelve years as the research subjects. The analysis followed an interactive model by Miles and Huberman involving data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, with data categorization conducted through open coding and axial coding, subsequently verified through source, method, and theory triangulation. The findings reveal four distinct communication typologies: authoritarian, democratic, permissive, and a blended approach. Unlike previous studies that examined a single communication pattern in isolation, this study finds that the blended approach which adaptively integrates firmness, constructive dialogue, and parental modeling is the most effective strategy in the context of digital-era challenges, constituting the primary novelty of this research. The authoritarian pattern produces fear-based obedience without genuine value internalization, while the democratic pattern fosters self-awareness through open dialogue. The permissive pattern, characterized by total freedom and lack of supervision, was found ineffective in establishing consistent religious habits. In conclusion, the quality of parental interaction is the decisive factor in shaping a child's religious character; a balanced and consistent communication style is essential for sustainable religious observance in the modern era. Practically, parents are advised to apply dialogue-based and exemplary communication, while educational institutions are encouraged to integrate family communication literacy into values-based guidance programs.

Abstract

Abstract

This study analyzes the stages of persuasive communication strategies used by preachers (da'i) through Krama Javanese to enhance congregational faith at Istiqlal Mosque, Central Lampung. A qualitative descriptive field research approach was applied. Data were collected through semi-structured in-depth interviews, non-participant observation, and documentation. Informants were selected using purposive sampling: preachers, mosque administrators, and congregation members. Data analysis employed an interactive model supported by simple quantitizing to strengthen qualitative findings. The results reveal three stages of persuasive communication strategy: formulation (understanding the congregation's background and selecting Krama Javanese), implementation (delivering messages politely, without coercion, with real-life examples), and evaluation (observing changes in understanding and worship behavior). Quantitizing results show an average comprehension score of 4.7 and behavioral change score of 4.3 on a 5-point scale. Triangulation across three sources confirms consistent findings. This strategy aligns with Aristotle's ethos, pathos, logos and the Elaboration Likelihood Model. The study concludes that using Krama Javanese effectively increases congregational faith, reflected in improved quality of mahdhah worship such as congregational prayers and Qur'anic recitation. This research contributes to understanding how local language integration in persuasive communication can strengthen emotional proximity between preachers and congregations while enhancing religious practice quality.

Abstract

The development of communication technology has driven the transformation of da'wah delivery methods from conventional spaces to digital platforms that are more adaptive and closer to the younger generation. This study aims to analyze the content of da'wah messages conveyed through the Instagram account @denaahaura as a form of digital da'wah in the social media era. This study uses a content analysis method with a descriptive qualitative approach based on Klaus Krippendorff's theory. Research data were obtained through documentation techniques on @denaahaura's Instagram content in the form of feed uploads, video reels, captions, and audience interactions during the period November 2025 to February 2026. Sample selection was carried out using a purposive sampling technique and analyzed through the stages of unitizing, sampling, recording/coding, reducing, inferring, and narrating. The results of the study show that da'wah messages on the @denaahaura account can be classified into three main categories, namely faith, sharia, and morals. Of the three categories, moral messages are the most dominant form of messages and are packaged through a reflective, persuasive, and emotional approach. Furthermore, the strategy of conveying messages through aesthetic visuals, the use of light language, video reels, and a personal approach significantly increased audience engagement. Research findings indicate that Muslim female influencers serve not only as content creators but also as preaching communicators capable of building a digital spiritual space that is relevant, inspiring, and aligned with the characteristics of Generation Z and millennials.

Abstract

The hacking of the National Data Center (PDN) in June 2024 had a serious impact on public services, data security, and public trust in the government's digital systems. This incident received widespread coverage from online media outlets such as Kompas and Detik, which, through their respective framing of the news, formed different narratives about the causes, responsibilities, and implications of the issue. This study uses qualitative methods and Robert N. Entman's framing analysis approach. The results of this study show differences in the framing used by Kompas and Detik. Kompas tends to criticize the government's negligence in addressing the cyber-attack. Meanwhile, Detik emphasizes that the hacking issue was caused by external attacks. The analysis results show that media framing plays an important role in shaping the dominant narrative and public perception regarding the hacking incident.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of prophetic communication in the leadership of the Student Activity Unit (UKM) HIQMA at UIN Raden Intan Lampung. Prophetic communication is based on three main pillars: humanization (amar ma’ruf), liberation (nahi munkar), and transcendence (tu’minuna billah). The research employed a descriptive qualitative method, using interviews, observations, and documentation as data collection techniques. The informants consisted of active administrators, alumni leaders, and members of UKM HIQMA selected through purposive sampling. The findings indicate that humanization is reflected in empathetic leadership, attention to members’ needs, and mentoring, which foster emotional closeness and organizational loyalty. Liberation is evident in the way leaders provide constructive criticism in a gentle and respectful manner, enabling members to grow with confidence. Transcendence appears through the integration of worship values such as prayer, dhikr, and Qur’anic recitation into organizational activities, which strengthens members’ spiritual motivation. Overall, prophetic leadership in UKM HIQMA successfully creates a humane, ethical, and spiritual organizational culture, proving the relevance of prophetic communication within student organizations.

Abstract

This study examines the representation of ta'awun, or long-helping, in the film Kukira Kau Rumah by Umay Shahab through Charles Sanders Peirce's semiotic analysis. This film was chosen because it raises the issue of mental health and social relationships that are full of values of empathy and caring. The aim of this study is to find out how the value of ta'awun is represented through visual and verbal signs that appear in various film scenes. The method used is a descriptive qualitative method with semiotic analysis techniques, which include three main elements: icons, indices, and symbols. The results of the study show that icons appear in facial expressions, gestures, and actions of characters that represent empathy and support. The index is seen through the character's actions, which arise from a sense of care and a desire to help. The symbol reflects a broader moral meaning as a form of mutual assistance in emotional and social aspects. As a form of novelty, this study shows that the representation of ta'awun in films extends beyond concrete assistance to include affective dimensions such as empathy, attention, and psychological strengthening, thereby enriching the perspective of Islamic communication studies through film media. In conclusion, the film Kukira Kau Rumah not only explores psychological issues but also emphasizes the importance of human values and empathy between individuals as a tangible manifestation of ta'awun in everyday life.
