Abstract

The purpose of this activity is to increase students' knowledge about PHBS and diarrhea prevention using herbal ingredients as well as the application of clean water treatment simulations using slow sand filter and biomass filter methods. This method of implementing service uses a participatory and collaborative approach through active and interactive discussions. This activity was carried out by involving 54 students of Bahrul Magfiroh Islamic Boarding School Malang. Service participants directly practice and understand the function of applying water treatment devices and the use of herbal ingredients for the prevention of diarrhea. The results of activities on clean water treatment are almost 90% understood by students, both the use of biomass filters and slow sand filters, while 42.6% of students still have a low understanding of how to process herbal ingredients for the prevention of diarrhea. The importance of continuous training on increasing knowledge of clean and healthy living behavior must continue to be improved as an effort to prevent the risk of disease transmission and health problems, including maintaining personal health and the Islamic boarding school environment.

Abstract

The harmful additives have the potential to cause health problems. Generally, herbal medicine and cosmetics circulating in the community are safe products. However, the increase in the distribution of herbal medicine has triggered the addition of harmful additives to improve the therapeutic effect. Cosmetics are used to clean, beautify, change the appearance, and/or improve body odor in good condition. The wide selection of cosmetics makes it highly attractive to the public. The socialization aimed to increase knowledge and awareness of harmful additives in medicinal herbs and cosmetics circulating in the community. Based on the results of observations, all students at Madjid Amin Islamic Boarding School are active students and can be said to have reached adulthood. Therefore, using herbal medicine and cosmetics that were popular with adults was not infrequent. The method of socializing through material presentations, practical training, and questionnaire administration before and after the event. Abstract

Medical students must maintain prolonged mental strain and different cognitive loads. Previous research has focused primarily on studying different types of intelligence and its relation to academic success and more specifically to grade point average (GPA). Yet, this leaves several questions unanswered. Most empirical research has concentrated on academic achievements and not on the psychological construct of stamina. Most of the research studies in this area focused in the western countries, and hardly any evidence exists on medical students from poorer countries. Most research in this area focused on academic achievement and failed to use psychometric tests assessing intelligence and the stamina construct. It also remains open question for academic research to explore the relationship between cognitive intelligence and work endurance. This study focused on the relationship of the emerged psychological construct and intelligence quotient (IQ) of medical students in Universitas Islam Malang, Indonesia. A cross-sectional analytic study was done on medical students who fulfilled the inclusion criteria. Absolutely, IQ was evaluated by the Culture Fair Intelligence Test (CFIT) and work endurance was evaluated by the Kraepelin Test. The data was processed by correlation analysis. The results indicated that there was no statistically significant correlation between activity endurance and IQ (p > 0.05). This measurement shows that both intelligence and activity endurance are distinct psychological variables. This indicates that the cognitive element of a student’s personality may not be sufficient to explain the student’s ability to maintain prolonged academic effort.
