Abstract

Stunting is a problem of poor nutrition based on height for age (TB/U) suffered from childhood and is an indicator of chronic malnutrition. Determination of stunting toddlers generally begins with taking anthropometric measurements in the form of toddler height. The aim of the community service is to increase knowledge of measuring height after being given training twice and to improve skills in measuring height with microtois. Community service is carried out at the Telaga Biru Health Center with the target of cadres and nutrition officers with a total of 18 respondents. Community service is carried out from May to July 2022. Training is given 2 times and evaluation monitoring is 1 time. The results of the training were seen from the knowledge of height measurement and height measurement skills. The data were analyzed by using the dependent test if the data was normally distributed and the Wilcoxon rank test if it was not normally distributed. The results of this community service show that there is a difference in knowledge of height measurement between the first and second training (p = 0.002). Respondents took more measurements in order (88.9%). In addition, 55.6% of respondents have done all stages of height measurement. It is necessary to refresh cadres by involving nutrition lecturers as companions every 3 months, especially in terms of measuring toddlers' height.

Abstract

This study aims to prove the improvement of learning outcomes from long service techniques in badminton games through problem-based learning models. The type of study used is the classroom action research design. The subjects of this study were students of Senior High School 2 Sukadana in the 2021–2022 school year, especially class X IPA students, totaling 25 students. The results showed an increase in cycle I, namely 28% completion, but there were still many students who were not complete, with a percentage of 72%. Based on the results in cycle II, it shows that there is a difference in the percentage achieved, namely, in cycle I, 28% of students are complete, and the last in cycle II shows a percentage of 92% of students are complete on the learning outcomes of the badminton long serve. The conclusion proves that the problem-based learning model can improve long-term service skills in badminton games. This research has provided new references related to physical education learning, where these results recommend that the problem-based learning model can be applied to solve badminton long serve problems.

Abstract

Stunting is an indication of poor nutritional status and is used as a long-term indicator of malnutrition in children. Determining stunted toddlers generally begins by taking anthropometric measurements in the form of the toddler's height and is carried out by health officers or cadres at Posyandu. In fact, the role of parents is very important, even as the front guard in monitoring children's growth. The problem is that people feel they are only objects or targets of programs that are continuously given education without being given the opportunity to become subjects, for example by being given skills. The aim of implementing the community service is to improve the skills of mothers of toddlers in measuring the height of toddlers, improve the skills of mothers of toddlers in monitoring the nutritional status of toddlers independently and increase the knowledge of mothers of toddlers regarding stunting and appropriate eating behavior for toddlers which supports the growth of toddlers. The methods of community service activities that will be carried out include providing training on anthropometric measurements of toddlers' height, monitoring the nutritional status of toddlers independently and education using an FGD approach to mothers of toddlers. The results for this community service show that respondents took more measurements according to the sequence and more respondents took measurements according to the KMS filling procedure. There was an increase in the knowledge of mothers of toddlers after being given 20 points of education. Apart from that, based on the results of statistical tests, it shows that there is a difference in knowledge before and after being given education (p=0.00). It is necessary to carry out monitoring and evaluation of mothers of toddlers by Posyandu cadres in terms of measuring and monitoring the growth of their toddlers. If necessary, you can involve a nutrition lecturer as a companion every 3 months, especially in measuring the height of toddlers.

Abstract

This paper reports the findings drawn from a six-month survey on first-year students’ perception of Extensive Reading intervention in a basic general English course program at Hasanuddin University. This survey study aimed to reveal the extent to which the samples agreed on some aspects of language learning’s positive impacts from attending a reading intervention semester. Other aspects were also examined to the degree of improvement, such as students’ beliefs about eclecticism, self-confidence, and social identity. Data were obtained from questionnaire surveys consisting of 7 close-ended statements and four rating scales from 120 fresh undergraduates. The scaling of “strongly agreement” was tallied from the total samples to obtain the trend. The greater the percentage of the agreement rate, the stronger the perceptions, so as the higher the tendency of the positive impact of extensive reading. The findings came up with encouraging results where a greater proportion of the samples reported significant improvement in aspects contributing to language learning. These include improved vocabulary, writing skills, reading rate, comprehension, confidence, and motivation. The study also revealed the perceived gaining of social identity and reduced degree of eclecticism in dealing with English texts. The findings support the previous research that confirms assurance of reading improvement through extensive reading. The survey warrants pedagogical implications for teachers to constantly embark high intensity of reading activities for students to inculcate reading habits so as to improve personal study skills and encourage autonomous learning.
