Abstract

Students' understanding of poetry in elementary schools remains suboptimal. This is caused not only by limited learning time but also by the lack of supporting media that can present the material effectively and engagingly, which makes it difficult for students to understand the meaning and elements of poetry in depth. The purpose of this study was to analyze the use of picture cards based on local wisdom in poetry learning in fourth-grade elementary schools. This research is a development research using the ADDIE model, which includes the stages of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The subjects of this study were 34 fourth-grade elementary school students. Data collection methods included interviews, questionnaires, and tests using instruments such as interview guidelines, questionnaires, and learning outcome test questions. The data analysis techniques used were descriptive, qualitative, and quantitative. The study found an increase in student engagement in the learning process, as well as a significant difference in students' poetry learning outcomes before and after using picture cards based on local wisdom. Thus, the use of this media is effective in improving students' understanding of poetry material. The implications of this study indicate that picture cards based on local wisdom can be an innovative alternative to support more interesting, contextual, and meaningful learning for students.

Abstract

The low ability of first grade elementary school students in recognizing letters and associating them with the right sounds indicates the need for effective media and learning methods to support mastery of decoding skills at the early stages of reading. This study aims to create media flash card based on phonics methods in improving students' decoding abilities and assessing the extent to which flashcard media based on phonics methods can improve students' abilities in recognizing letter sounds and combining them into words. The research method used is qualitative and quantitative descriptive analysis, with data collection through observation, interviews, and questionnaires. This study uses the ADDIE development model as a framework in designing and developing media. The research subjects consisted of 9 grade 1 elementary school students, as individual trial subjects. The main results of the study showed that the media obtained a very good category from design and media experts, and good from the results of individual trials. The media was considered interesting, easy to use, and helped students in mastering basic phonics. All of the 9 students have also experienced an increase in their early reading skills after using the media. It can be concluded that the media flash card based on phonics method contributes positively to improving students' early reading skills, especially in the aspect of decoding letters and words. The implications of this study indicate that the use of interactive visual media that is in accordance with phonics principles can effectively help students in recognizing the relationship between letters and sounds. This has an impact on improving basic reading skills, especially in terms of decoding or the ability to sound out words accurately.

Abstract

Several challenges were identified in the learning process, notably that 70% of students experienced difficulties working in groups or teams, indicating a lack of collaborative skills. Furthermore, only 20% of students actively participated in group activities, with the majority preferring to work independently. These deficiencies in problem solving and collaboration may negatively impact students’ academic achievement. This study aimed to analyze the implementation of Project-Based Learning (PBL) in improving the problem solving skills and collaborative abilities of kindergarten students in Group B. A quasi experimental method with a quantitative approach was employed. The research design utilized was the Posttest Only Control Group Design. The population of the study consisted of 120 Group B kindergarten students, with a total sample of 30 students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using observation methods, with an observation sheet serving as the primary instrument. The data analysis techniques included qualitative descriptive statistics, quantitative statistics, and Multivariate Analysis of Variance (MANOVA). The results of the study revealed a significant difference in the application of project based learning to students’ problem solving skills and collaborative abilities. The Pillai’s Trace value was 0.770, with a significance level of p < 0.05, indicating that the model had a strong and meaningful effect on both skill sets simultaneously. In conclusion, project based learning is demonstrated to be an effective and comprehensive instructional strategy for supporting the integrated development of problem solving and collaborative skills in kindergarten Group B students.

Abstract

Monotonous learning activities and a lack of development of critical thinking skills in students cause low critical and creative thinking skills. Based on this, the purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of STEAM Based Learning with Loose Part Media on the Critical Thinking and Creative Thinking Skills of Group B Children. The research method employed in this study is a quasi-experimental design. The design of this study employs a post-test-only control group design. The population in this study consisted of 5-to 6-year-old kindergarten students, with a sample size of 30 students. In this study, the sampling technique employed was purposive sampling, with a total sample of 30 students. The method used in collecting data was a test. The instrument used for data collection was a checklist sheet with a rating scale. The data analysis technique used the t-test. The results of the study showed a significant difference between the experimental group and the control group in terms of critical thinking skills. The average difference value (indicates that the average score of children's critical thinking skills in the experimental group given treatment is higher than that of the control group. Second, there is a significant difference between the experimental group and the control group in terms of creative thinking skills. The average difference value indicates that the average score of the children's creative thinking skills in the experimental group, given the treatment, is higher than that of the control group. It is concluded that the STEAM approach, assisted by Loose Parts media, has a positive effect on improving critical and creative thinking skills in children in Group B.

Abstract

The lack of variation in learning methods and media leads to a decline in student learning motivation towards literacy activities. This condition impacts low student learning outcomes in class and makes the learning process less interesting and less meaningful. This study aims to analyze the design, validity, practicality, and effectiveness of literacy calendar media in Indonesian language learning. This development research uses the ADDIE model, which includes the stages of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The research subjects were third-grade elementary school students. Data collection was carried out through observation, questionnaires, and tests to obtain information on the quality of the media developed and its impact on student learning outcomes. The results of the study indicate that the literacy calendar media meets the criteria of being valid, practical, and effective for use in Indonesian language learning, especially in the material on effective sentences. The use of this media can help students understand the material more easily, increase student engagement in learning activities, and support the improvement of reading and writing skills. The implications of this study indicate that the literacy calendar media can be used as an alternative innovative learning media that supports the strengthening of literacy culture, increases learning motivation, and helps teachers create more active, interesting, and student-centered learning in elementary schools.
