Abstract

This research examines the effectiveness of AI-based speech recognition technology in fostering English pronunciation skills among students. The study emphasizes the importance of pronunciation proficiency as a cornerstone of language learning and its impact on overall communication effectiveness. A quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group methodology was employed. The participants were 58 third-year Accounting Diploma students from State Polytechnic of Malang, Indonesia. They were divided into two groups: an experimental class utilizing the Google Read Along application and a control class receiving conventional teaching methods. The results demonstrate a significant improvement in pronunciation skills within the experimental group. These students achieved an average N-Gain score of 0.7646, categorized as "high," compared to the control group's average score of 0.6564, classified as "moderate." Furthermore, a t-test analysis revealed a statistically significant difference between the two groups, with a p-value (2-tailed) of 0.000. These findings strongly suggest that AI-based speech recognition technology offers a more effective approach to enhancing English pronunciation compared to conventional methods. This research paves the way for integrating this technology into language learning curriculums. The potential for significant positive impacts on student pronunciation skills is promising and warrants further exploration in future research endeavors.

Abstract

In the continuously evolving digital era, mastering English in a professional context has become a primary necessity, especially for accounting students who are required to understand technical terminology and effectively communicate financial information. This research aims to explore the effectiveness of artificial intelligence tools in enhancing the teaching of English for Accounting, specifically within the framework of English for Specific Purposes education. Utilizing a quasi-experimental design, the study incorporates a pretest and posttest control group, comprising two distinct groups of accounting students. One group receives conventional instruction, while the other benefits from AI-enhanced teaching methods. The findings suggest that the group that participated in the experiment showed notable enhancements in their knowledge of technical terms, ability to comprehend financial documents, and proficiency in both writing and communication related to accounting when compared to the group that did not participate. Additionally, the use of AI proved to help reduce cognitive load and enhance learning motivation among students. These findings imply the need for systematic integration of artificial intelligence technology into the ESP curriculum, as well as training for instructors to optimize its use. Thus, AI technology plays not only a supportive role but also serves as an adaptive learning strategy relevant to current industry needs.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to determine the relationship between debt policy and tobacco excise tax rates with stock prices. Data sources were obtained from data published on the Indonesia Stock Exchange and company websites. This research uses multiple regression analysis tools. The research found that first, the debt policy variable has a positive effect on the stock price of tobacco company Gudang Garam (GGRM), while for Sampoerna Company, the debt decision contributes negatively to the stock price. Second, the excise tax rate variable has a negative impact on tobacco stock prices. Third, debt policy and excise tax rates simultaneously affect tobacco stock prices. The implications of these findings indicate that company managers must carefully design debt policies to create optimal capital structure, as the effects of debt decisions can vary between companies. Government policies related to excise tax rates have a direct impact on stock market performance in the tobacco industry, meaning that investors and stakeholders must consider regulatory dynamics as an important factor in investment decision-making. The results of this research provide evidence that excise tax rate adjustments not only affect state revenues but also affect the stability and valuation of companies related to the tobacco industry in the capital market.

Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has significantly transformed education and language learning by creating more interactive, personalized, and adaptive learning environments. Within the field of English for Specific Purposes (ESP), especially for accounting students, there is an increasing need for learning modules that combine discipline-based content with advanced educational technology. However, existing resources remain limited and often fail to meet the specific linguistic and professional demands of vocational learners. This study aimed to design and evaluate an AI-based English module tailored to the needs of accounting students. Employing a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation), the research involved need analysis, expert validation, small-group testing, and field implementation. The findings revealed that the module achieved a high feasibility rating from experts (87.2%), significantly improved students’ English achievement (from a pre-test mean of 62.4 to a post-test mean of 80.7, p < 0.05), and received positive responses from users. Most students reported improved comprehension of accounting terms, enhanced confidence in professional communication, and satisfaction with AI-integrated features such as chatbot interaction and speech recognition. These results indicate that the AI-based module is pedagogically effective, technologically interactive, and contextually relevant to vocational English education. Theoretically, this study contributes to ESP pedagogy, while practically, it offers a model for integrating AI-assisted learning in higher education contexts.
