Abstract

Islamic inheritance law is one of the most interesting topics to be studied because the Republic of Indonesia is a country with a population that is predominantly Muslim, in addition to the many disputes caused by Islamic inheritance law it is also the duty of academics to study this issue so that later it can become a source law in the future. On this occasion the author will examine or discuss how to protect productivity of Islamic inheritance, productivity means that something can be produced which of course the result is the right of one heir or another heir has the same rights. This will be studied using two theories from two different but closely related disciplines, Jurisprudence and other Jurisprudence. First, the method of istiṣlāḥiyyah which refers to maqāṣid ash-syarī‘ah hifẓ al-māl. Second, the istiqrā method or analysis of the farā‘iḍ calculation theory in the fiqh of the four schools.

Abstract

The floods that hit Aceh Tamiang Regency, Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam Province in November 2025 have seriously affected people's lives. Thousands of homes were submerged, access roads were cut off, infrastructure was damaged, and it's been hard to supply people's basic needs. This emergency situation requires a quick and coordinated response from various parties, including colleges and universities. This community service project aims to provide humanitarian assistance to flood victims through the distribution of basic food supplies, medicines, and other essential items. The partners in this community service project are the flood-affected communities in four locations (Buluh Butung Village, Purwodadi, Kota Lintang Bawah, and Landu) and the Aceh Tamiang Regional General Hospital. The method used is adapted from the principles of participatory action research, which includes team coordination, fundraising, procurement of aid, and distribution through direct delivery, assembly points, and door-to-door visits. The implementation team consisted of 42 people (7 lecturers, 5 students, and 30 volunteers) who successfully raised Rp 138,500,000. The activities were carried out on 5 and 8 November 2025 at five distribution points. The results of the community service programme show that 270 households (approximately 855 people) successfully received assistance in the form of 250 food packages, hundreds of bales of clothing, thousands of medicines and medical supplies, and other essential items. The community responded very positively with great enthusiasm, and the distribution ran smoothly. Feedback from beneficiaries indicated that the food parcels and medicines were highly effective in providing basic necessities, although there were still ongoing needs such as emergency tents, sleeping equipment, and water storage containers. This community service initiative demonstrated the importance of collaboration between colleges or universities, students, and volunteers in rapid disaster response, as well as the effectiveness of multi-location distribution adjusted to actual conditions on the ground.

Abstract

The ritual of qurban (animal sacrifice) is frequently reduced to a charitable event in which meat is distributed and the program ends, leaving little empowerment behind. This study examines how the Tebar Qurban 1447 H program—a cross-national philanthropic collaboration between STAI As-Sunnah Deli Serdang, the Arrisalah Humanitarian Foundation (Indonesia), and the Bayaan Association (Singapore)—reconstructs qurban from a charitable model into an instrument of community empowerment. Using a qualitative instrumental case-study design, data were gathered through participant observation, documentation, and key-informant interviews across fifteen assisted villages in North Sumatra, then analyzed interactively and read through the lens of maqāṣid al-sharīʿah and Islamic philanthropy. The findings show that integrating Asset-Based Community Development with a service-learning cycle produced—at the level of process and output indicators—1,014 daʿwah-educational activities reaching 17,197 participant-visits, 21 Friday sermons attended by 1,117 worshippers, and the managed slaughter and distribution of 45 sacrificial animals across the villages. Read through maqāṣid, the program shifts the emphasis from the ritual form toward its higher objectives—social takāful, the preservation of life, and the cultivation of taqwā—positioning villagers as active subjects rather than passive recipients. The study concludes that structurally managed cross-national Islamic philanthropy can transform qurban into a sustainable vehicle of empowerment and value internalization, provided it is sustained by continued mentoring and productive follow-up

Abstract

This study examines the concept of kafālah according to the scholars of the Shāfi‘ī school of thought (madhhab) and contrasts it with the practice of kafālah stipulated in the National Sharia Board-Indonesian Ulema Council (DSN-MUI) Fatwa No. 11/DSN-MUI/IV/2000. Within the Shāfi‘ī school, kafālah is classified as a tabarru‘ (gratuitous) contract, which strictly prohibits the imposition of a fee (ujrah), as asserted by classical scholars such as Al-Māwardī, An-Nawawī, and Ar-Rāfi‘ī. Conversely, the DSN-MUI permits the collection of ujrah in kafālah contracts by employing a contemporary ijtihad approach, utilizing methods such as i‘ādatu an-naẓar. This library research relies on secondary sources, primarily classical texts of the Shāfi‘ī school. The findings reveal a fundamental divergence in legal approaches: the Shāfi‘ī school maintains a rigid adherence to the tabarru‘ principle, whereas the DSN-MUI fatwa seeks to provide practical solutions aligned with the dynamics of the modern Islamic financial industry. This research is expected to offer a scholarly contribution to the development of Islamic economic law in Indonesia.

Abstract

This research aims to develop a thematic Arabic language curriculum based on Islamic economic law for students of the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business. Employing a qualitative approach with a research and development method, this study adapts the Taba-Tyler Curriculum Design model. Through comprehensive literature review, needs analysis, and expert validation, the study produces a curriculum framework that integrates Arabic language learning with Islamic economics content. The proposed curriculum structure encompasses four proficiency levels, focusing on progressive development of language skills and understanding of Islamic economic concepts. The findings highlight the importance of thematic approaches, task-based learning, and technology integration in teaching. Key challenges identified include the need for specialized material development and teacher training. This research contributes significantly to the development of Islamic higher education, particularly in preparing graduates for the global Islamic finance industry. Recommendations for implementation and further research are presented to support sustainable curriculum development.

Abstract

This study analyses the impact of the implementation of Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) on the productivity and socio-economic development of small-scale Arabica coffee farmers in Indonesia within the context of sustainable agriculture. The study was conducted through a systematic review and meta-analysis of secondary data sourced from indexed journal articles, reports by international organisations, and government publications. The results indicate that the adoption of GAP contributes significantly to increased coffee productivity, more efficient use of agricultural inputs, and improved crop quality, all of which have a direct impact on farmers’ income. Institutional and structural factors—access to technical training, membership of farmers’ cooperatives, availability of microcredit, and levels of formal education—were found to be the key predictors of accelerated GAP adoption amongst small-scale farmers. Furthermore, the implementation of GAP not only impacts the microeconomics of farming households but also contributes to broader rural socio-economic development through improved community welfare, strengthened local institutional capacity, diversification of income sources, and improvements to village infrastructure. These findings indicate a multiplier effect of sustainable agricultural practices on the dynamics of rural development. This study concludes that accelerating the adoption of GAP requires cross-sectoral collaboration between the government, non-governmental organisations, the private sector and farming communities in designing inclusive and sustainable policies to support the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals in Indonesia’s coffee sector.
