Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggambarkan analisis kebutuhan mata kuliah Bahasa Inggris (ESP) untuk mahasiswa kejuruan yang berfokus pada analisis target dan kebutuhan pembelajaran. Data diperoleh dari kuesioner dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian berupa analisa target menunjukkan bahwa tujuan pembelajaran bahasa Inggris bagi para mahasiswa Jurusan Gizi adalah agar dapat berkomunikasi menggunakan bahasa inggris secara aktif. Hasil analisa kebutuhan pembelajaran yang diperoleh yaitu mahasiswa membutuhkan kemampuan berbicara secara lancar dan komunikatif dalam rangka persiapan diri memenuhi tututan profesi mereka kedepannya. Hal tersebut menunjukkan bahwa keinginan mahasiswa yang mengarah pada peningkatan kemampuan berbicara (speaking) ini sudah sangat sesuai dengan kebutuhan pasar kerja yang mensyaratkan kemampuan berkomunikasi dalam bahasa Inggris dengan baik. Hasil dari penelitian ini diharapkan akan menjadi referensi untuk menyiapkan silabus dan mengembangkan materi ajar.Kata Kunci: analisis kebutuhan, kebutuhan pembelajaran, kemampuan berbicara

The purpose of this paper is neither to conduct such a study nor to assess students’ metacognitive awareness in reading comprehension. In particular, this paper tends to explore the theory on metacognition and the important of metacognitive strategy in enhancing ELF students’ reading comprehension. It includes a short discussion of some of the basic concepts of metacognition and review of various studies on the development of metacognition in reading comprehension. Moreover, hopefully the paper could provide teacher, educators and instructors some suggestions and to lead further studies for helping the students to increase their metacognitive awareness of reading strategies. To this end, this paper can also serve as a research reference in the field of students’ metacognitive knowledge of reading skill, particularly in reading comprehension strategies.Keywords: metacognitive reading strategy, reading comprehension.

Abstract: This study was to find out the extent to which task-based language teaching is applicable and influenced classroom practices and students? performance. The study recorded the implementation of task-based language teaching in order to find the improvement in the teaching learning process, including students? improvement in speaking skills. The data were gathered from classroom observations and interview. The analysis showed how TBLT framework gave an improvement in teaching learning process. It provided exposures, opportunities to use the language, and prudence feedback as well as motivation to help the teacher managing classroom interaction and maximizing opportunities for students to put their limited language to genuine use. It also enabled the students to experience the language; they made noticeable progress in their language learning, gaining the confidence to express themselves more fluently in speaking. In short, this study showed that has TBLT promoted students active participation in the activities with more opportunities to display their thinking through action which in turn increased their positive attitude for language learning. Key words: Task-Based Language Teaching, exposure, speaking. Abstrak: Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui sejauh mana pengajaran bahasa berbasis tugas dapat mempengaruhi proses belajar mengajar dan kinerja siswa. Data diperoleh dari observasi kelas dan wawancara. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa penerapan TBLT memberikan perbaikan dalam proses belajar mengajar. Adanya eksposur, kesempatan untuk menggunakan bahasa, dan umpan balik serta motivasi dapat membantu guru mengelola interaksi kelas dan memaksimalkan kesempatan bagi siswa untuk bereksperimen dengan bahasa. Hal ini juga memungkinkan siswa untuk lebih percaya diri sehingga dapat mengekspresikan diri lebih lancar dalam berbicara. Singkatnya, penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pengajaran bahasa berbasis tugas dapat menumbuhkan partisipasi aktif siswa dalam kegiatan dengan belajar dan meningkatkan sikap positif mereka untuk belajar bahasa. This paper aims to explore the theory on classroom instruction particularly Task-Based Language Teaching. It includes a short discussion of the definition and benefits of TBLT to help engaging students in a lesson by encouraging spoken interactions. In addition, teachers are encouraged to explore and experiment with TBLT in order to promote students active participation as well as to maximize opportunities for students to explore the target language. To strengthen the discussion, there is a guided framework to apply in the classroom as the subject matter for students to learn more effectively. Hopefully the paper could provide educators and instructors a method to use and to lead further studies for helping students to explore communicating in English. Moreover, this paper can also serve as a research reference in the field of classroom instruction, for instance in using TBLT to foster speaking skill.

AbstractTechnology plays an important role in teaching and learning process. The use of technology in the classroom helps practitioners to improve the effectiveness of learning. Concerning with these facts, it is necessary to have specific guidelines regarding the implementation of technology in the classroom to optimize the benefits of the technology. This study aims to explain the notion of technology integration and its use in the classroom. It provides multimedia technology-based teaching framework contains activities that can be used by teachers or lecturers to be applied in the classroom. This study also explains some of the literature from previous researchs on the use of multimedia technology which has the role of improving students English language skills. Hopefully, this research can be useful for educators to integrate multimedia technology in the classroom. Keywords: multimedia technology, technology integration, language teaching. AbstrakTeknologi telah memainkan peran penting dalam proses belajar mengajar. Pemanfaatan teknologi di dalam maupun di luar kelas telah membantu para praktisi pendidikan untuk meningkatkan efektivitas pembelajaran. Berangkat dari fakta tersebut maka perlu adanya panduan khusus mengenai penerapan teknologi di dalam kelas guna mengoptimalkan manfaat dari teknologi tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan memaparkan pengertian integrasi teknologi beserta pemanfaatannya di dalam kelas. Dilengkapi pula dengan framework pengajaran berbasis teknologi multimedia yang berisikan aktivitas yang dapat digunakan para guru atau dosen untuk diterapkan di dalam kelas. Penelitian ini juga menjelaskan tentang beberapa literatur dari penelititan sebelumnya mengenai penggunaan teknologi multimedia yang telah berperan meningkatkan keterampilan Bahasa Inggris peserta didik. Harapannya, penelitian ini dapat menjadi referensi untuk para pendidik dalam mengintegrasikan teknologi multimedia di dalam kelas.  Kata kunci: teknologi multimedia, integrasi teknologi, pengajaran bahasa.

This paper aims at encouraging medical students of Poltekkes Pontianak to speak in English by developing a speaking handout as one of the sources for their English subject. The handout is addressed to first semester students as an introduction of English. Speaking skill is chosen because the demands of professional medical workers who are competent in speaking English have increased. In the work-life, medical workers are required to be able to speak in English as an international media of communication for the proof of their professionalism. Therefore, the development of the handout is highly important. The data used to develop the handout is primarily the need analysis results of the previous research. The material development process employs two phases of ADDIE: Design phase and Development phase adapted from Branch (2009) with some pertinent modifications to the contexts and primary data. The complete handout as the final result contains the activities and tasks of speaking English with the clear user’s guides for its users.

This study aims to determine the extent to which technology can be applied in the process of teaching and learning Basic English and affect student performance. Data obtained from classroom observations and interviews. The analysis shows how the application of technology provides an improvement in the teaching and learning process. The application of technology particularly computer games give students the opportunity to practice using English, as well as increasing students' interest in participating in classroom activities. In the process of applying this technology the development of the ability of students' vocabulary mastery can be seen. In short, this study shows that the application of technology raises a positive impact on students in the learning process in the classroom.

This study aimed to determine the extent to which multimedia technology can be applied in the process of teaching and learning English and affect student performance. Data obtained from classroom observations and interviews. The analysis shows how the implementation of multimedia or educational applications provides an improvement in the teaching and learning process. The implementation of multimedia particularly educational applications in computer gives students the opportunity to practice using English, as well as increasing students' interest in participating in the classroom activities. In the process of integrating multimedia technologies, the development of the students' skills can be seen. In short, this study shows that the implementation of technology raises a positive impact on students in the learning process in the classroom.
