Abstract

Women are a group that is vulnerable to becoming victims of the impacts of climate change, the availability of air to meet sanitation needs, disasters that can occur at any time, and secondary impacts from economic problems that may arise. This research illustrates how literacy can strengthen women, open their minds, change paradigms about the environment, and even move women to try to be active and independent in responding to the impacts of climate change. Using qualitative methods, researchers carried out inductive coding on the results of interviews with five people with the highest New Ecological Paradigm Scale scores from sixty-six subjects selected using the criteria of women aged 18-40 years who liked to read literacy in the form of novels by female writers from Indonesia. Word Frequency analysis found that five words had context and formed the theme of this research, namely women, nature, mothers, characters, and the environment. This research reveals how feminist ecopsychological literacy can change views, determine attitudes, and mobilize Indonesian women to be pro-environmental and independent in responding to climate change, which causes changes in the natural environment.

Abstract

Formal music education in college, especially for piano majors, has emphasized classical repertoire and profound solo playing techniques. However, previous graduate evaluations show that many have difficulty adjusting to the demands of the popular music industry, which demands more flexibility in piano accompaniment, improvisation, and harmony. This research aims to practice the piano accompaniment learning model in grade 3 of the current major. Action research is the methodology used, and a descriptive qualitative approach is needed using document analysis, observation, and interviews. The findings of this study are expected to help music education institutions better understand their students’ business demands and professional requirements after graduation.

Abstract

This study explores Generation Z's understanding and perception of sound design in popular music, focusing on how this concept influences their music-listening experiences and emotional responses. Sound design, encompassing audio production quality, sound effects, and waveform processing, is critical in shaping diverse auditory experiences. However, the depth of understanding of sound design among Generation Z varies widely, presenting an opportunity to bridge knowledge gaps in music education. Using a quantitative descriptive approach, a survey was conducted among students with music education backgrounds to assess their familiarity with sound design concepts. The findings reveal diverse levels of comprehension, with some respondents recognizing the term "sound design" but lacking a clear understanding, while others demonstrated a deeper knowledge of its components and significance. Participants identified key elements of sound design, such as the importance of production quality, creative use of sound effects, and manipulating audio waveforms, as pivotal in enhancing the listening experience. A novel aspect of this study is examining how sound design impacts emotional engagement with music. Most respondents reported that sound design enhances the emotional depth of songs and makes the music more immersive and enjoyable. Interestingly, while many felt that sound design influenced their music preferences, a subset of respondents remained unaffected. This research highlights a strong interest among Generation Z in learning more about sound design, suggesting the need for educational initiatives that integrate sound design into music curricula.

Abstract

This study introduces an innovative approach to orchestral education by blending classical music principles with popular music elements and electronic looping technology. In a landscape where classical music often struggles to captivate students drawn to contemporary genres, this approach aims to maintain classical music's discipline while delivering a dynamic and engaging learning experience. The research evaluates student responses to the use of looping technology, examining its impact on learning outcomes and identifying associated benefits and challenges. A mixed-methods approach was employed, involving 37 students from an orchestral course at Universitas Negeri Padang. Data were collected through questionnaires, semi-structured interviews, and observations over one semester. The results reveal that electronic looping technology significantly enhances student interest and engagement, offering a fresh perspective on orchestral practice. The technology not only bridges classical and modern musical expressions but also facilitates individualized learning, enabling students to explore creativity within structured compositions. Most participants demonstrated a higher interest in repertoires incorporating looping technology than in traditional classical pieces. Furthermore, the integration of partiture-based learning with digital tools improved students' technical skills, rhythmic accuracy, and ensemble cohesion. However, challenges related to synchronization and technical setup highlight the need for targeted instructional strategies and technological support. The novelty of this study lies in its exploration of how digital tools like looping technology can revitalize classical music education, making it more relevant to today's students. These findings offer practical insights for music educators seeking to innovate teaching methods and adapt to the evolving digital landscape in education.

Abstract

The use of teaching modules in learning processes still faces challenges, especially printed materials that tend to be monotonous and less appealing to students in the digital era. These challenges affect students' understanding and engagement in learning, particularly in courses that require artistic appreciation, such as Nusantara Music. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of developing interactive e-modules to enhance students' comprehension and engagement in this course. The research employed a research and development (R&D) method using the ADDIE development model, which comprises five stages: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. Data were collected through pretests and post-tests to measure cognitive and psychomotor learning outcomes. Data analysis was conducted by comparing pretest and post-test results using descriptive statistical tests. The findings revealed that the developed interactive e-module effectively improved students' comprehension, as indicated by significant improvements in post-test scores compared to pretest scores. Additionally, the use of e-modules increased student engagement during the learning process. The study concludes that the ADDIE-based interactive e-module can be effectively utilized as a learning medium to enhance students' learning outcomes in the Nusantara Music course.

The research object is Bamboo Flute Music, with data collected through literature study, observation, interviews, and documentation. The research analyzed the data by examining the form, melody, and the relationship between text and melody in the song "Bungo di Laman". The results show that there are 10 kinds of rhythmic forms in this song, both of which are the development of previous forms and new formations. The flute melody in the tale "Bungo di Laman" is dominated by ascending melodic movement, where the melody tends to rise to a higher pitch. The descending movement in the flute melody is only used as a bridge to the next ascending movement. The same applies to the vocal melody in the tale, where the ascending movement is dominant and the descending movement only serves as a bridge. The pronunciation style of the story "Bungo di Laman" is predominantly syllabic, with 316 syllables pronounced syllabically.
