Abstract

Vocabulary is the most important part of learning a language, and is also applied in learning Japanese.  Japanese students face difficulties in learning Japanese vocabulary, therefore teachers are able to provide appropriate media for learning vocabulary.  This study aims to determine the ability to remember and understand Japanese vocabulary of Japanese extracurricular students at As Shofa Islamic Middle School, Pekanbaru, before and after using Card Match as a Japanese language learning medium.  This type of research is quantitative research with a one group pre-test post-test design.  The population in the study were extracurricular Japanese language students at As Shofa Islamic Middle School Pekanbaru, with a sample of 20 students.  The research instrument used in the research was a test consisting of 20 questions.  The results of this research can be seen in the Paired Sample T Test results from the post test value data of 0.001 which shows that Card Match is an effective learning medium to support the ability to remember and understand Japanese vocabulary for Japanese extracurricular students at As Shofa Islamic Middle School Pekanbaru.

Abstract

Abstract: This research was conducted to understand how persuasive speechacts are used in daily life. The type of research uused in qualitative descriptive. Thedata source fot this research is the character Arataka Reigen in the anime ‘MobPsychoo 100’ in convicing his costumers. The analysis in this research uses Robert B.Cialdini’s theory on persuasive principles, namelyReciprocity, Commitmen andConsistency, Sosial Proof, Authority, Liking, and Scarity. The data collection methodsuuesd are observation, listeing, and note-taking. The result of this research show 11data points of persuasive speech acts by the character Arataka Reigen with hiscostumers.Keywords: anime, persuasive speech acts, persuasive principles

Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to determine whether the Smart Japanese application has an effect on increasing the Japanese language vocabulary of class XII students at SMK Negeri 1 Teluk Kuantan. The sample used was 40 students. The research that will be carried out in this research is quantitative research. This research will be carried out with a Pre Test and Post Test Control Group design. The class will be divided into an experimental class and a control class. The experimental class will be given treatment using the Smart Japan application, while the control class will only study as usual. The data used for this study were taken from the scores of the experimental class and the control class. After the data is obtained, the data will be processed using SPSS Version 20 IBM For Windows. For the scores of the experimental class and the control class, a p-value of 0.000 was obtained, which means that Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted, or it can be concluded that there was a significant difference in the average score between the experimental class and the control class. From the explanation above, it can be concluded that the learning media for the Smart Japanese application vocabulary has an effect on the mastery of Japanese vocabulary for class XII students at SMK Negeri 1 Teluk Kuantan.Key Words: Influence, Vocabulary, Smart Japanese

Abstract

Abstract: High school students studying Japanese must master Hiragana as a basis for learning. This skill is very important because real Japanese words, such as names of places and things, are written in Hiragana. Hiragana is taught before katakana and kanji, especially in the early stages of learning in high school. Understanding Japanese characters becomes the main goal of teaching, facilitating Japanese language learning. Quasi-experimental was used by the researcher as the methodology in this study. This strategy was used because it suited the characteristics of the research sample, which consisted of a comparison group or control group and an experimental group. The determination of the experimental and control groups was predetermined and not based on random selection, in accordance with the nonequivalent control group design (Sugiyono, 2014). In accordance with the findings of the Mann-Whitney Test, the value of Asymp. Sig (2-tailed) of 0.000 is smaller than 0.05. This shows that Power point powtoon has a significant influence on the ability of class X students of SMAN 1 Teluk Kuantan in memorizing Hiragana letters. The conclusion of this study is that the use of Power point powtoon media has a positive effect on the ability of class X students of SMAN 1 Teluk Kuantan in memorizing Hiragana letters. Although there are some data that are not normally distributed, the Mann-Whitney Test shows a significant value, supporting that the influence of the media is quite large. Students who used powtoon showed improvement in articulating the letters and the ability to memorize Hiragana letters.Key words: Power point, Powtoon, Experiment, Hiragana

Abstract

Abstract: This research was conducted to determine the implementation of song media as learning Japanese vocabulary in hiragana letters for college students in class 2022. The type of research used was qualitative with an analytical descriptive method. Sources of data in this study were taken using purposive sampling by taking 27 college students to participate in learning using song media. The results in this study indicate that song media can be used as an alternative media and variations in the classroom to achieve learning objectives that can help college students to improve new Japanese vocabulary contained in song lyrics in a fun way.Keywords: Cover song, learning , Japanese vocabulary

Abstract

Abstract: Film is a form of communication media that can have an influencereaching all social segments of society. In the film there are also many speech acts from linguistic elements which function as an introduction for us in understanding the content that the film will convey. Sociolinguistic studies that can be studied in films are the use of words or particles in conversational sentences between characters, for example the use of final particles (Shuujoshi) which are widely used in Japanese with the aim of emphasizing the speaker's intentions. In this research, the data source chosen was the animated film Koe No Katachi by Naoko Yamada. This animated film uses a lot of Shuujoshi which are used in various situations. This research only analyzes Shuujoshi, namely Shuujoshi Yo and Ne. This research method uses the Descriptive Method, namely by describing the Sguujoshi Yo and Ne data contained in the animated film Koe No Katachi.Key words: Film, Function, Shuujoshi

Abstract

Abstract: This research is quantitative research. The purpose of this study is todetermine the level of understanding of Japanese Language Education students at RiauUniversity class of 2021 regarding the use of jodoushi souda. The population in thisstudy were students of the Japanese Language Education Study Program, University ofRiau, class of 2021 with a sample of 30 students. There are three indicators used in thisstudy to achieve the research objectives, they are (1) classifying, (2)inference/concluding, and (3) interpretation/interpreting. The results of this study arethat students' understanding of the use of jodoushi souda as denbun is in the lowerqualification with an average score of 44.33. Meanwhile, jodoushi souda as youtai isalso in the lower qualifications with an average score of 51.76. So, it can be concludedthat students' understanding of the use of jodoushi souda when viewed from the averagescore, souda as youtai is higher than souda as denbun.Keywords: Jodoushi, souda, youtai, denbun

Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to determine the Japanese vocabulary skills of studentsin class XII of SMA Negeri 4 Pekanbaru. The data was obtained through a test conductedin one of the classes, namely class XII Humaniora 1. The test results showed that theaverage student score was in the low category, with an average score of 48. This findingindicates that students face difficulties in understanding and mastering basic Japanesevocabulary. These low scores indicate the existence of barriers in Japanese languagelearning which may stem from ineffective teaching methods, lack of student motivation,and limited learning resources. This study provides a preliminary picture of students'vocabulary ability as an evaluation material for further learning.Key Words: Japanese Vocabulary, Initial Ability, Vocabulary Test, Language Learning

Abstract

Abstrak Bagi siswa SMA yang mempelajari bahasa Jepang, penguasaan huruf Hiragana dianggap sebagai dasar yang sangat penting. Keterampilan ini memiliki signifikansi karena banyak kata-kata asli dalam bahasa Jepang, seperti nama tempat dan objek, ditulis dengan huruf Hiragana. Biasanya, pembelajaran Hiragana ditekankan sebelum mempelajari Katakana dan Kanji, terutama pada tahap awal pembelajaran di sekolah menengah atas. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan quasi eksperimental sebagai metodologi. Metode ini dipilih karena sesuai dengan karakteristik sampel penelitian, yang terdiri dari kelompok pembanding atau kelompok kontrol dan kelompok eksperimen. Penentuan kelompok eksperimen dan kelompok kontrol sudah ditetapkan sebelumnya dan tidak dipilih secara acak, mengikuti desain nonequivalent control group (Sugiyono, 2014). Berdasarkan hasil analisis menggunakan Mann-Whitney Test, nilai Asymp. Sig (2-tailed) sebesar 0,000, yang lebih kecil dari 0,05. Ini mengindikasikan bahwa penggunaan Power Point Powtoon memiliki pengaruh signifikan terhadap kemampuan siswa kelas X di SMAN 1 Teluk Kuantan dalam menghafal huruf Hiragana. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah bahwa pemanfaatan media Power Point Powtoon memberikan dampak positif terhadap kemampuan siswa kelas X di SMAN 1 Teluk Kuantan dalam menghafal huruf Hiragana. Meskipun beberapa data tidak mengikuti distribusi normal, uji Mann-Whitney menunjukkan nilai signifikan, menegaskan bahwa dampak media tersebut cukup besar. Siswa yang menggunakan Powtoon menunjukkan peningkatan dalam mengartikulasikan huruf-huruf dan kemampuan menghafal huruf Hiragana. Top of Form Kata kunci: Hiragana, Power Point, Powtoon , Eksperimen. Typically, the learning sequence prioritizes Hiragana before delving into Katakana and Kanji, especially in the early stages of high school. The research employed a quasi-experimental approach as its methodology. This method was chosen to align with the characteristics of the research sample, comprising a control group and an experimental group. The assignment of these groups was predetermined and not randomly selected, following a nonequivalent control group design (Sugiyono, 2014). Based on the findings from the Mann-Whitney Test, the Asymp. Sig (2-tailed) value was 0.000, which is smaller than 0.05. This indicates that the use of Power Point Powtoon has a significant impact on the ability of 10th-grade students at SMAN 1 Teluk Kuantan to memorize Hiragana characters. In conclusion, this study suggests that the utilization of Power Point Powtoon positively influences the proficiency of 10th-grade students at SMAN 1 Teluk Kuantan in memorizing Hiragana characters. Despite some data not following a normal distribution, the Mann-Whitney Test results show significant value, supporting the notion that the impact of the media is substantial. Students using Powtoon demonstrated improvement in articulating the characters and memorizing the Hiragana script. Keywords : Hiragana, Power Point, Powtoon , Experiment.

Abstract

The activity of introducing furoshiki culture to the community is one of the efforts to preserve the environment. Furoshiki with high aesthetic value is expected to attract the attention of the community to use it as a substitute for plastic packaging. Through the Community Service (PkM) activity organized by the Japanese Language Education Study Program, FKIP, Riau University, an introduction to the history and culture of furoshiki, the practice of using furoshiki, and distributing questionnaires was carried out to determine the community's perception of the potential for accepting furoshiki as a new culture and habit in the local community. The target community was 50 members of the PKK of Jake Village, Simpang Tiga Village, Kuantan Tengah District, Kuantan Singingi Regency, Riau Province. From the results of the questionnaire, 100% of participants agreed to practice the use of furoshiki, 98% of participants agreed to accept furoshiki as a new culture, 100% of participants agreed with the efforts and means of spreading furoshiki and 90% of participants were interested in furoshiki. Based on these results, it can be said that the community can accept furoshiki culture well to become part of everyday life. However, in order to achieve optimal sustainability, efforts are needed to introduce furoshiki culture more widely in society and to consistently get used to using furoshiki.
