Abstract

The study was aimed to determine the effect of partially substitute corn with cassava flour, shrimp heads, and coconut oil on the performance of male Mojosari ducks. The 96 male daily old ducks were given treatment feed which was a combination of cassava flour, shrimp head, and coconut oil as corn substitutes with stratified proportions of 0, 5, 10, and 15. This was an experiment arranged according to a randomized block design with 4 treatments and 6 repetitions. The results showed that the combination of shrimp head, cassava, and coconut oil as corn to 15 percent has no difference in effect (P> 0.05) on feed consumption, metabolic energy consumption and protein consumption, carcass weight, thigh weight, and breast weight of duck age 6 Sunday. The conclusion is that the combination of shrimp heads, cassava, and coconut oil up to 15% could not affect the performance of male Mojosari duck.

Abstract

Proportional Partnership Format of Animal Husbandry Department of Kupang State Agricultural Polytechnic is be applied in pigs fattening in order to improve feed management and maintenance of pigs at Syaloom Farmers Group in Tuatuka Kelurahan of East Kupang. This experiment aims to determine the effect(s) of Poliagro complete feed on linear body sizes (body length, chest circumference, height) and daily body weight gain between female and male pigs. Experimental farm method was used in the experiment in which 10 pigs are used (consist of 3 males and 7 females).Data was analysis using descriptive statistics and t-student test to compare variables of both groups by using IBM-SPSS software version 21. The results showed that after 5 months, the average linear sizes of male group (body length, chest circumference and height) were 29.33 ± 0.57; 77.67 ± 2.51 and 94.33 ± 4.04in sequentially order. While the linear sizes of the female pig's were 27.67 ± 1.53; 75.67 ± 3.21and 90.67 ± 1.52. The mean of daily weight gain of male pigs was 0.49 ± 0.01 kg/head/day and the females ones 0.46 ± 0.02 kg/head/day. Statistical analysis showed that there were no differences in linear body sizes and daily body weight gain between male and female pigs that were fed Poliagro pellet fee.

Abstract

A research was conducted for eight months to know trading system of Bali Cattle from Timor to DKI Jakarta and level of  its body weight loses. Two hundred eighteen Bali Cattle were used in this research. The research was used survey and interview method to collect the data. Data were analyzed using Qualitative Descriptive Analysis and Proc. ANOVA (SAS institute, 2000) and further tested using Least Significant Diffrence (LSD). Results showed that trading system of Bali Cattle is begun from whole saler Jakarta send money to interisland tradesman then money is continued to collectors tradesman to buy cattle, furthermore cattle is sent by interisland tradesman to whole saler Jakarta later on sell cow to cutter or consumer at Jakarta. transportation tool that used truck colt diesel motor, boat (cargo), coupled truck, trintin tronton or trinton. The level of body weight loses was very high (8.53-17.30%) and of course it significant difference (P<0.01) for every Bali cattle came from. It is concluded that places of Bali cattle lived in give a different level of body weight losesKey words: trading, bali cattle, transportasion system, body weight loses

Income Level of Farmers on Fattening Bali Cattle using Profit Share System. The research conducted during 10 months in 2009 and aimed to identify the contribution of income from fattening cattle farmers and to determine the factors affecting the level of income from such business. Sixty farmers were taken as respondents by purposive random sampling in Amarasi, Kupang regency. Data were collected through interviews with respondents and were continued with inputoutput analysis and statistical analysis using correlation analysis, regression analysis, and is equipped with the calculation of the coefficient of multiple determinations (R2). The results showed that the business was able to provide cash income to farmers amounted to Rp 281,303.08; simultaneously, the income is influenced significantly (P<0.01) by the number of fattened cattle, cattle’s age, length of fattening period, the cost of cattle’s feed, and labor costs, with a coefficient of multiple determination (R2) amounted to 85.6%.Key words: Farmer income, Bali Cattle, Fattening and Profit Share

Abstract

A Survey was conducted in  Kupang City.  It was carried on April 2007 to October 2007. Fifty five farmers were  taken as respondents by purposive  random sampling and the market institution respondents were taken by snow ball effect method. The objectives of this study were: (1) to identify broiler marketing distribution at different scale of production, 2) to count the marketing margin and to analyse the factors which affected marketing margin, 3) to know the cost and profit share in each market institution and farmer share, and 4) to assist the broiler marketing efficiency in Kota Kupang. Variables measured consisted of: selling capacity, selling price at farmer level; selling price at consumer or retailer level,  selling price and the cost  at each market institution, sum of trader, and others non technical aspects in marketing activities. Data were analysed  descriptively, and the other by counting of marketing margin, profit share, farmer share and regression analysis. The results of this study indicated that: 1) there were four types of marketing distribution, bigger of production scale, more type of marketing distribution, 2) the higher of production scale, the lower of marketing margin. Based on profit and profit ratio, the marketing efficiency at big scale of production more efficiently than small scale, 3) presentation of farmer share is relatively high and increase following the scale of production, and 4) simultaneously the marketing margin  was affected significantly (p<0.01) by selling capacity, broiler price, sum of trader and marketing cost. Furthermore, partially, marketing margin was affected significantly (p<0.05) by selling capacity and broiler price.Key words: Marketing, Broiler
