Abstract

Abstract Amorphophallus companulatus (AC) is a plant from the Araceae family that contains high metabolizable energy and an alternative feedstuff for livestock. This study aimed to investigate the effect of feeding diet containing AC on slaughter weight, carcass weight, and abdominal fat of broiler chickens. The feeding trial lasted for 35 days. For the sample, 112 broiler chicks, all a day old (DOC) were used. The research had 4 treatment groups and 4 replications with 7 birds per replication. The four treatments were P0 (Control ration without AC); P1 (rations containing 5% of AC); P2 (rations containing 10% of AC); P3 (rations containing 15% AC). Slaughter weight, carcass weight, and abdominal fat weight data were analyzed by variance analysis and followed by Duncan's multiple range test with a confidence level of 0.05. The addition of AC tubers affected the slaughter weight, carcass weight, and abdominal fat weight of broiler chickens. The slaughter and carcass weight in chickens fed with the control ration was significantly (P <0.05) higher than the chicken fed with rations containing AC. The abdominal fat weight was significantly (P <0.05) higher in chickens fed with control rations compared to those fed with AC rations. In conclusion, AC tuber meal in the ration can reduce the slaughter weight, carcass weight, and abdominal fat weight of broiler chickens. Abstrak Amorphophallus companulatus (AC) merupakan Araceae yang mengandung energi metabolisme yang tinggi dan sebagai bahan pakan alternatif bagi ternak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji pengaruh penggunaan AC dalam ransum terhadap bobot potong, berat karkas, dan lemak abdominal ayam broiler. Penelitian ini dilakukan selama 35 hari. Seratus dua belas ekor ayam broiler umur sehari digunakan dalam penelitian. Ada 4 kelompok perlakuan dengan 4 ulangan masing-masing 7 ekor ayam per ulangan. Keempat perlakuan tersebut adalah P0 (Ransum kontrol tanpa AC); P1(ransum yang mengandung 5% AC); P2 (ransum yang mengandung 10% AC); P3 (ransum yang mengandung 15% AC). Data berat potong, berat karkas dan berat lemak abdominal dianalisis dengan analisis varians dan dilanjutkan dengan uji jarak berganda Duncan pada tingkat kepercayaan 0,05. Pemberian umbi AC berpengaruh terhadap berat badan akhir, berat karkas dan berat lemak abdominal ayam broiler. Berat badan akhir, berat karkas pada ayam yang diberi ransum kontrol secara nyata (P <0,05) lebih tinggi daripada ayam yang diberi ransum mengandung AC. Bobot lemak abdominal secara nyata (P<0,05) lebih tinggi pada ayam yang diberi ransum kontrol dibandingkan yang diberi ransum AC. Kesimpulannya, tepung umbi AC dalam ransum dapat mengurangi berat badan akhir, berat karkas dan lemak abdominal ayam broiler. Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the nutritional content of fermented Kepok banana peel flour (Musa paradisiaca) by goat rumen liquid. This study was designed using a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 5 replications. The four treatments were P0: Kepok banana peel flour + 0% goat rumen fluid (control), P1: Kepok banana peel flour + 30% goat rumen fluid, P2: Kepok banana peel flour + 40% goat rumen fluid, P3: Kepok banana peel flour + 50% goat rumen fluid. The fermentation process was carried out for 7 days. The results of this study showed that the use of goat rumen fluid changed (P<0.05) the nutrient content of fermented Kepok banana peel flour. The use of 50% goat rumen fluid increased crude protein and crude fat content, however reduced the dry matter and crude fiber content of Kepok banana peel flour.

Abstract

Banana peel is restricted to use as feedstuffs because it has a high crude fiber content. The reduction of crude fiber can be done by anaerobic fermentation such as silage making. Soluble carbohydrates are needed as an energy source for microorganisms in ensilage process. Tapioca is one of soluble carbohydrates that can be used to improve silage quality. The objective of this study was to evaluate effect of tapioca levels on the fiber fraction of kepok banana peel silage (Musa paradisiaca). A completely randomized design was used in this study, with 4 treatments and 5 replications, namely T0: without tapioca, T5: 5% tapioca, T10: 10% tapioca, T15: 15% tapioca. Variables observed were the content of NDF (%), ADF (%), hemicellulose (%), cellulose (%), and lignin (%).Collected data was  analyzed by analysis of variance and if it had a significant effect, it was continued with Duncan's multiple range test. The results of analysis of variance showed that the level of tapioca had a highly significant effect (P<0.01) on NDF, ADF, hemicellulose, cellulose, and lignin. DMRT showed that the lowest NDF content was at T15 with an average of 48.06%, the lowest ADF was found at T15 with an average of 20.20%, the lowest hemicellulose was found at T15 with an average of 27.46%, the lowest cellulose was found at T10 with an average of 7.98% and the lowest lignin against T15 with an average of 12.09%. In conclusions, 1) Different levels of tapioca was can reduce ADF, NDF, hemicellulose, cellulose, and lignin in kepok banana peel silage, 2) The use of 10% tapioca reduced the highest kepok banana peel silage fiber fraction.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian telah dilakukan di Kelompok Peternak babi yang ada di Desa Oeltua, Kecamatan Taebenu Kabupaten Kupang Oeltua. Tujuan dari kegiatan ini agar peternak mitra dapat memperbaiki system pemeliharaan babi khususnya perkandangan, pakan dan mengolah limbah dari peternakan tersebut menjadi pupuk organik. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan ini adalah penyuluhan, demplot dan pendampingan. Pada kegiatan ini peternak diberi pengetahuan dan cara tentang pembuatan pakan dan pengolahan limbah peternakan.

Abstract

Banana peel is one of the non-conventional feed ingredients, but its utilization is still limited due to high content of crude fiber and tannins. The usage of 10% tapioca and 21 days of fermentation time in silage production was able to reduce crude fiber and tannin levels of kepok banana peel. A four-week dietary treatment was conducted with 160 day old of joper strain, a cross-bred native chickens, to determine the utilization silage of banana peel (SBP). The birds were randomly assigned to four dietary treatments with five replication of eight chicks each in a completely randomized design. The treatments consisted of banana peel silage inclusion at 0, 10, 20, and 30% in the diet. Data were analyze by analysis of variance (ANOVA) and means were compared using Duncan’s Multiple Range Test. The results showed that inclusion of SBP had significant effect (p<0.05) on weight gain and feed conversion, but had no significant effect (p>0.05) on feed intake. It was concluded that the optimal growth response of broilers was indicated in the inclusion of SBP up to 10% of the diet.Keywords:  feed conversion, feed intake, silage banana peel, silage weight gain

Abstract

Bapa Aprianus Adu adalah seorang peternak ayam kampung KUB dan menjadi penggurus UMKM Elssaday. Tujuan dari kegiatan  pengabdian ini agar peternak mitra dapat mengolah dedak padi sebelum digunakan sebagai pakan ayam kampung. Dalam kegiatan pengabdian ini menggunakan metode penyuluhan,diskusi dan demonstrasi plot. Pada Kegiatan ini peternak diberi pengetahuan dan dilatih tentang cara pengolahan dedak padi melalui proses fermentasi dengan menggunakan starter mikroorganisme yang ada dalam nira lontar. Pengetahuan peternak meningkat setelah diberikan penyuluhan, pengetahuan tentang fermentasi dedak padi menggunakan nira lontar meningkat 100% dan peternak dapat melakukan pengolahan dedak padi melalui fermentasi.
