Abstract

Genteng-Candirejo Herbal Village Surabaya, is a center for Small and Medium Enterprises (UKM) producing national class herbal drinks with a total of 12 Trade Businesses (UD) operating under the auspices of the Mandiri Gencar (Genteng-Candirejo) UKM. The problem that arises from the results of observations and interviews of researchers with UMKM activists in Genteng-Candirejo Herbal Village is that the product packaging is still very simple and has not been designed attractively. The majority of UMKMs in Genteng-Candirejo Herbal Village do not have the knowledge and understanding related to product packaging so that it makes it difficult for them to market their products to a larger market the packaging of the product that is not ideal also gives the impression that herbal drinks are outdated products, and cannot communicate the image of Kampung Jamu Genteng-Candirejo Surabaya well. The solution to this problem is by providing training and counseling to members of the Genteng-Candirejo Herbal Village UMKM regarding the design of herbal drink packaging. The methods used in this activity are, first, the presentation method to convey several things related to knowledge of herbal beverage packaging. Second, the demonstration method to show how to make herbal beverage product packaging for the UKM Kampung Herbal Genteng-Candirejo. Third, practical methods to train the Genteng-Candirejo Herbal Village UKM group in making herbal drink packaging designs

Abstract

The long-term objective of this research is the creation of a generation of Indonesians with healthy lifestyle habits, in which children can maintain personal and environmental hygiene to avoid disease attacks. The world is currently experiencing a pandemic due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak which attacks humans and can cause death. One of the efforts to prevent the transmission of COVID-19 can be done by adopting a clean and healthy lifestyle. Healthy living habits are mandatory, but in reality, the knowledge and understanding of some people are still low so that people do not live healthily. For this reason, this study aims to educate children about the importance of healthy living interestingly and creatively, namely through the design of an interactive Pop-Up illustrated book for children aged 7-8 years. The method used is a qualitative research method. The design method uses 4 concepts including message concepts, creative concepts, media concepts, and visual concepts. The research process includes primary data collection and secondary data, structured interviews with children's book experts and doctors, as well as field tests and semi-structured interviews with children aged 7-8, namely students in grades 1-2 of elementary school to explore responses and children's understanding of the contents of the book. The sampling technique used is Non-Random Sampling-Purposive Sampling. The final results and conclusions of the study were to produce an Interactive Pop-Up Illustration Book About Healthy Lifestyle Education for 7-8 Years Old Children.

Abstract

The younger generation must be inculcated with the ideology of the Pancasila, so they have strong resilience. The biggest threat, namely terrorism and radicalism, lies not only in the aspect of adverse physical attacks, but rather through ideological propaganda attacks that affect patterns of view. Nationalism and State Defense (Bela Negara) insight possessed by the Indonesian people is currently poor. For this reason, awareness and enlightenment are needed from an early age to foster the love of Indonesia Country. This can be initiated early since the school age in kindergarten. However, there has not been any character design in the educational media for the State Defense (Bela Negara) of the kindergarten. For this reason the research on how attractive characters can be designed for kindergarten students is conducted. This research used qualitative methods. Qualitative research is a scientific method of observation to gather non-numerical data. This type of research "refers to the meanings, concepts definitions, characteristics, metaphors, symbols, and description of things" and not to their "counts or measures". The design method uses the Design Process stages which consist of inspiration, identification, conceptualization, exploration, and definition. The results of this research are expected to produce a character design that interests children, so that education about the values of State Defense (Bela Negara) to children from an early age can be done effectively.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia has not yet ended. In fact, the situation is getting worse with many people being exposed, millions of people are confirmed positive for COVID-19 and it continues to grow every day, both from medical personnel, state civil apparatus and other public services. As an effort to prevent the spread and exposure of COVID-19, the Government of Indonesia has issued policies to stop the rate of increase in Covid-19 cases, one of which is the policy of making a health protocol for the 5M movement (Washing hand, Wearing Mask, physical distancing, Avoiding crowds and Reducing mobility). However, there are still many people who do not comply with the health protocol. This can be found in tourist sites, such as the Wonorejo Mangrove Ecotourism. To assist the government in suppressing the rate of increase in Covid-19 cases, it takes a unique and unusual media in conveying the importance of disciplined behavior in implementing 5M, one of which is through ambient media design. Ambient media is considered an effective medium to convey the message of the importance of disciplined behavior in implementing 5M and is then expected to contribute positively to the development of similar tourist areas. For this reason, research is carried out on the design of ambient media that is attractive to the public, especially tourist visitors. The results of this study are expected to produce ambient media that can attract the public so that education about the importance of disciplined behavior in implementing 5M can be carried out effectively. The method used is a qualitative research method. The data is obtained in non-numbers, but it could be in text, documents, pictures, photos, artefacts, or other objects found during the research. The research process includes the collection of primary and secondary data. Primary data consists of observation, documentation and semi-structured interviews with tourist visitors, while secondary data uses references and literature. The final result of the research is to produce ambient media that can convey messages to the public about the importance of disciplined behavior in implementing 5M effectively.

Abstract

Learning and inculcating character that contains the values of Bela Negara need to be carried out from an early age, starting from the age of 5 years or pre-school age. Character education for early childhood is intended to instill good values so that they can become good habits when children become adults or at the next level of education. The problems faced today are the children's lack of knowledge about the values of Bela Negara and their lack of knowledge about wayang art. Therefore, we need an extension of the values of Bela Negara to kindergarten children in a simple, interesting, and attractive way, namely through storytelling using wayang media. The purpose of this community service activity is to increase children's insight and knowledge about the values of defending the country and to introduce the art of wayang to children. The design of the wayang characters used is called Panca Satria, namely 5 little heroes with national defense characters, which are the results of the basic research of researchers. This outreach activity was carried out at Al-Azhar Kelapa Gading Surabaya Kindergarten, which is located at Taman Bhaskara No. 1, Mulyorejo, Surabaya. With this community service activity, it is hoped that early childhood, especially kindergarten children, can recognize the value of Bela Negara from an early age as a form of love for the Indonesian homeland.
