Abstract

This research is motivated by the low ability of students to speak English. The purpose of this study was to determine the ability of students to speak English through Picture Series. The method used in this research was descriptive analysis method. In this research, the population was the second-grade students' of SMKN 5 Padang, the number of the population members was 70 students. The sample of this research was class 2 Design of Building Information and Modeling 2, and the size of the sample was 18 students. In this research, researcher use cluster random sampling. Instrumentation that used in this research was text giving suggestion through picture series. This data was obtained from the results of test given to students, the authors found the value of five criteria of speaking skills in giving suggestion through picture series, vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, fluency, and comprehension. It can be concluded that the ability of students is moderate, obtained from a score 1 and a score 2 that there are 13 people from 18 students who got moderate (72,2%), and 3 people from 18 students got high scores (16,6%). Based on the research analysis, the researcher was suggested that English teacher give students’ more practice and pay attention especially in speaking. And pay attention for aspect to be used in speaking test, so students understand about the material especially in giving suggestion.Arikunto, S. (2002). Dasar-Dasar Penelitian. Abstract

Penelitian ini memaparkan hasil penelitian tentang kemampuan siswa SMK N 5 PADANG dalam Menggunakan Tenses Bahasa Inggris pada semester I kelas X TKJ, banyak siswa yang belum paham dalam kegiatan belajar mengajar. Ketika peneliti melakukan praktik mengajar, selama mengajar grammar, siswa tidak dapat memenuhi beberapa elemen grammar, termasuk tenses dan verb, banyak masalah yang dihadapi siswa dalam pembelajarannya, terutama dalam tenses bahasa Inggris. Metode penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif, melibatkan pengumpulan data untuk menjawab pertanyaan dalam status objek penelitian saat ini. Data dikumpulkan dari 35 siswa kelas X TKJ SMK 5 Padang. Hasilnya, semester I kelas X TKJ di SMKN 5 Padang yang berjumlah 35 siswa memiliki kemampuan menengah dalam menggunakan tenses bahasa Inggris, ada enam belas siswa yang mendapat klasifikasi baik (61,53%), dan dua siswa yang mendapat nilai sangat baik. klasifikasi yang buruk. Data tersebut juga menunjukkan skor total masing-masing tense dengan skor rata-rata (62,88). Berdasarkan data tersebut, penyebab siswa mendapatkan kemampuan intermediate adalah dalam menggunakan bentuk verba dan bantu dalam tenses.

Abstract

Background: The low ability of students in achieving narrative text vocabulary. Objective: To discover whether understudies who are instructed utilizing sound visuals have superior lexicon accomplishment than understudies who are instructed utilizing routine media in the tenth grade of SMK N 5 Padang. Methods: This study uses a true experimental quantitative design method. The research design is a two-group pretest-posttest design. In this study, the population is class X SMK N 5 Padang. Results: Shows that students taught by Audio Visual have better vocabulary achievement in Narrative text than students taught by Conventional Media. in class X SMK N 5 Padang. Conclusion: The employment of audiovisual media in the teaching of vocabulary mastery was extremely effective when compared to traditional media.

Abstract

The problems of students' blunders in translating narrative text sparked this study. This study was carried out at SMKN 5 Padang during the 2021/2022 academic year. Many pupils struggle to translate effectively in classroom teaching and learning activities. The descriptive qualitative method was employed in this study. The sample of the population in this study was 34 students, the population was students in the tenth grade second semester of SMK 5 Padang, and the researcher took samples in the X Teknik Instalasi Tenaga Listrik 1. which comprised of 34 students using cluster random sampling. A recall text was translated as an instrument in this study. The researcher discovered five sorts of errors produced by students in translating English narrative text into Indonesian language based on data received from a test given to students. There are five types of errors: omission errors, blend errors, addition errors, misformation errors, and misordering errors.

Abstract

Kegiatan Pengabdian ini merupakan kegiatan pengabdian yang melibatkan dosen dan mahasiswa program studi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris, Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan, Universitas Ekasakti. Sebanyak enam orang dosen pembimbing serta 5 orang mahasiswa turut serta dalam pelaksanaan pengabdian ini. Mahasiswa tersebut merupakan mahasiswa yang merupakan mahasiswa semester 5. Dalam kegiatan ini dosen-dosen prodi pendidikan Bahasa Inggris berperan dalam memberikan materi dan dibantu oleh mahasiswa untuk mempersiapkan kegiatan belajar mengajar di SMK Pelayaran Padang. Dengan mempertimbangkan aspek pengajaran yang “fun dan Communicative”, siswa dipersiapkan untuk mendapatkan kegiatan- kegiatan yang tepat dan bermakna untuk meningkatkan motivasi dan keterampilan Berbahasa Inggris. Mengingat pentingnya Bahasa Inggris bagi siswa SMK Pelayaran Padang, kegiatan pengabdian ini memberikan ruang bagi siswa untuk mengasah keterampilan Bahasa Inggris mereka sebagai sarana untuk mempersiapkan diri setelah tamat dan bekerja di bagian pelayaran.

Abstract

Dalam upaya meningkatkan literasi digital siswa, pemanfaatan e-book sebagai media pembelajaran menjadi suatu alternatif yang menarik. E-book menawarkan berbagai keunggulan, seperti aksesibilitas yang lebih luas, kemampuan interaktif, dan fleksibilitas dalam penyampaian materi. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk analisis pengaruh pemanfaatan e-book sebagai media pembelajaran dalam meningkatkan literasi digital siswa. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian kualitatif dengan studi pustakan atau Literature Review. Tujuannya adalah untuk menganalisis perbandingan teori-teori yang ada dengan teori-teori sebelumnya dalam literatur penelitian. Literatur yang digunakan adalah literatur dari hasil penelitian atau kajian yang disajikan dalam artikel ilmiah. Berdasarkan hasil literature review bahwa pemanfaatan e-book Sebagai Media Pembelajaran dapat meningkatkan literasi digital siswa.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to find out the students’ ability and students' difficulties in expressing intention. This research was conducted at SMKN 6 Padang, the academic year 2020/2021. The researcher conducted this research based on the finding in the classroom. Many students were not able to speak well in the teaching and learning activities in the classroom. This research used descriptive quantitative research. The population in this research was 68 students first years of SMKN 6 Padang, namely first kuliner one and first kuliner two. The result of the research showed that students’ speaking ability in expressing intention was moderate. (1) The ability of students’ in pronunciation was moderate (91.42% ). (2) The ability of students’ in choosing vocabulary was moderate (94.28%). (3) The ability of students’ in fluency was moderate (85.71%). (4) The ability of students’ in using grammar was moderate (88.57%). (5) The ability of students’ in comprehension was moderate (82.85%). The researcher concluded that students speaking ability in expressing intention was moderate.

Abstract

The understanding of the people of the Bengkalis Island especially towards sharia banking services is still low. The purpose of this study was to analyze the factors that influence bank customers' switching behavior intentions. This research method uses a quantitative approach and data collection using a questionnaire given to 150 bank customers taken by non-probability sampling and analyzed using SPSS version 16. The results of hypothesis testing indicate that attitudes, subjective norms, perceptions of behavioral control, and ease of the system and the procedure has a positive and significant effect on the intention to switch bank customers, while the social influence and the influence of the image of the bank does not affect the intention to switch bank customers. This research is relevant for management to design service products that make it easy for users to increase user intentions to transact on Islamic banks.

Abstract

It needs appropriate and effective media to help the students learn vocabulary. This research used a descriptive method to explore students' perception thoughts toward using song lyrics as a learning media. The population of this research was tenth-grade students of SMAN 9 Padang at the academic year of 2024/2025 The research process used a cluster random sampling technique to decide the subject. The researcher got class X E2 as the sample which consists of 36 students. The researcher used questionnaire to collect the data. There are 20 statements in the questionnaire. The researcher gave the questionnaire to the students by using paper, and the duration for them to fill it was 30 minutes. The researcher used the Likert scale procedure to analyze the data. Based on the finding of the research, the researcher found that about 66.1% participants have positive perception of the use of song lyric for learning English, especially in vocabulary learning. As a result, 77% of students agreed that song lyric is effective media for vocabulary learning, 76% of students have positive perceptions about the learning outcomes, and 64% students also had positive perceptions about the experience while using song lyric as a media for vocabulary learning.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the difficulties of students ability in identifying generic structure of narrative. The purpose of this research was to find out to describe the students ability in understanding generic structure of narrative text and to describe the students ability in determining main idea in paragraph of narrative text. Many student were not to able to identifying generic structure of narrative text and difficulty in finding main idea in paragraph of narrative text. This research was conducted at SMA Ekasakti Padang, in academic year 2021/2022. The researcher conducted this research based on the researcher experienced of teaching practice. This researcher used descriptive research. The population of this research is all of students at second grade of social science of SMA Ekasakti Padang, namely 10 students. In taking the sample, the researcher used total sampling technique and all of population are sample. The instrument of this research was a reading test. Kind of the test is multiple choice test, with a total were questions 25 questions. In collecting data, the researcher gives a test to students with a time of 60 minutes. In analyzing data, researcher used some steps in scoring rubric by Arikunto (2007). The data analysis results showed that the students ability in identifying generic structure of narrative text were good. With the following description, (1) The ability of students in identifying generic structure of narrative text were good (the students' average score were 72.4). Specifically, there were 5 students in the very good category, 2 students in the good category, 1 student in the fair category, 2 students in the weak category, and 0 students in the poor category. (2) The ability of students determining main idea of narrative text were good (the students' average score were 70). Specifically, there were 6 students in the very good category, 0 students in the good category, 1 student in the fair category, 0 students in the weak category, and 3 students in the poor category. From the results, the researcher concluded that students in identifying generic structure were good.
