Abstract

Background: Incomplete abortion is the partial loss of conception and the remaining tissue in the uterus. In this condition the mother is recommended to do curettage to remove and clean the existing tissue, prevent infection to overcome heavy bleeding. This can have a psychological impact on mothers who will undergo several series of actions, one of which is anxiety. Nurses play a role in reducing maternal anxiety so that mothers can go through each process well. The application of autogenic relaxation techniques can be a solution in increasing the relaxation response, providing a sensation of calmness towards a situation faced, to reduce maternal anxiety. The purpose of this study was to determine the application of autogenic relaxation in reducing the anxiety of mothers who will undergo curettage due to incomplete abortion. The research method is descriptive-qualitative with a case-study approach. For sample determination, we used a targeted sampling technique to determine the number of samples from up to four pregnant women who had undergone an incomplete abortion. Results: anxiety levels decreased after a 3-day self-relaxation intervention in four pregnant women with incomplete abortion before curettage . Conclusion: autogenic relaxation is effective in reducing anxiety levels in pre curettage pregnant women due to incomplete abortion.

Abstract

Indonesia National Adolescent Mental Health Survey (I-NAMHS) shows that one in three adolescents aged 10-17 years in Indonesia had mental health problems in the last 12 months, equivalent to 15.5 million adolescents in the country and one in 20 adolescents aged 10-17 years in Indonesia also experience mental disorders equivalent to 2.45 million adolescents in the country. Of the 120 respondents, it was found that there were several emotional and mental problems, namely, the aspect of emotional problems in the high abnormal category. This study aims to determine the effect of implementing supportive therapy on adolescent mental problems. This study employs a quantitative, quasi-experimental pre-post-test design with a control group. The inclusion criteria are divided into class A and class B. The total sample used based on the screening results is 120 adolescents. 60 adolescents from class A were given the intervention group, and 60 adolescents from class B were made the control group and did not receive group supportive therapy. The sampling technique used in this study was the total sampling technique. The instrument used was the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ). The results of the study obtained a range of mental and emotional problems of adolescents in the intervention group before therapy, namely emotional problems 48.3%, behavioral problems 26.7%, peer problems 12.5%, and hyperactivity 12.5%. after therapy, emotional problems were 45%, behavioral problems 16.6%, hyperactivity 3.33%, and peer problems 13.3%. This shows that there is a significant difference between the range of mental and emotional problems after being given supportive group therapy.

Abstract

Background: Breast milk (ASI) production is a common factor and a key determinant in the success of breastfeeding. Many mothers often complain that their breast milk either does not come out or is produced in small quantities. Although breast milk has tremendous benefits, not many mothers are willing or able to provide exclusive breastfeeding for six months. The failure to provide exclusive breastfeeding can be influenced by the lack of nutritional support. Several studies have indicated that papaya (Carica papaya) has the potential as a natural galactagogue that can stimulate breast milk production. The bioactive compounds in papaya, such as the enzyme papain, vitamin A, vitamin C, flavonoids, and other phytochemicals, are known to support metabolism and tissue health, including the mammary glands. Objective: To analyze the effectiveness of papaya (Carica papaya L) in increasing breast milk production among breastfeeding mothers at Kauditan Public Health Center, North Minahasa Regency. Method: This study used a quasi-experimental design with a non-randomized pre-test and post-test approach. A total of 35 respondents were selected using purposive sampling. Normality was tested using the Shapiro-Wilk test, which showed that the data were not normally distributed (p < 0.05), so the Wilcoxon test was used. Results: The Wilcoxon test showed a significant difference in breast milk production before and after papaya consumption (p = 0.000 < 0.05). Most mothers produced less than 80 ml of breast milk before the intervention, increasing to 80–150 ml afterward. Variations in milk production were influenced by individual nutritional status; thus, support from husbands and families is essential to meet the nutritional needs of breastfeeding mothers. Conclusion: Papaya is effective in increasing breast milk production in breastfeeding mothers. It is recommended that mothers consume papaya regularly during breastfeeding to help enhance milk production.

Abstract

Stroke is the second leading cause of death and the third leading cause of disability. One in four people is at risk of stroke, there are more than 12.2 million new strokes every year. stroke in Indonesia was 10.9%, and in North Sulawesi province it was 14.2%, and the intervention used in this study was Range of motion (ROM). This research aims to determine the influence of post-stroke care education on the knowledge and range of motion skills of the Silian village community using audio-visual media. This research method is quantitative, with a pre-experimental one-group pre-test and post-test design. The 30 sample respondents used the Random Sampling Technique. The treatment was carried out with Post Stroke Care Education using audio-visual media, exercises were carried out in 30 minutes for 3 days. Skill observation sheet instruments and questionnaires regarding Stroke and ROM using the Paired T-test. The research conducted had significant results where sesewanua was more effective than water with a P value of 0.002. The data results mean that the pretest knowledge is 6.90 and the post-test is 15.50, the average increase in knowledge is 7.93. The pretest skills score is 0.00 and the posttest is 23.43. Further tests using the Paired T-test showed that there was a significant effect of post-stroke care education on a range of motion knowledge (P value 0.00; α 0.05) and there was a significant effect of post-stroke care education on a range of motion skills (P value 0.00; α 0.05). The conclusion is that post-stroke care education increases respondents' knowledge and skills regarding range of motion.

Abstract

Background: Hypertension is a chronic disease that can affect all humans from the youngest to the oldest. Data from WHO (World Health Organization) 2015, shows about 1.13 billion people in the world suffer from hypertension. That is, 1 in 3 people in the world suffer from hypertension. In Indonesia, based on Riskesdas 2018 data, the prevalence of hypertension in Indonesia is 8.4% and based on the results of measurements in the population aged ≥ 18 years 34.1%. Hypertension cannot directly cause death, if not treated immediately, it will risk complications such as stroke, myocardial infarction, kidney failure and encephalopathy. Hypertensive disease can also be prevented and minimized with non-pharmacological therapy to avoid the side effects of antihypertensive drugs, namely with a healthy and balanced diet. One of them is by consuming adequate potassium. The fruit that contains a lot of potassium is banana ambon. The purpose of this study is to see the effect of banana ambon consumption on the level of hypertension. Methods through database searches used include Google Scholar, Garuda and Directory of Open Access Journal. The keywords used in the article search were hypertension and banana ambon. The results obtained 103 articles and only 9 articles were used in accordance with the analysis of objectives, suitability of topics, research methods used, and the results of each article. Conclusion: banana ambon has an effect in lowering blood pressure / hypertension.
