Abstract

The aim of this study was to identify and describe the Euglenids (Euglenophyceae, Euglenophyta) from the peat waters of Palangka Raya, Central Kalimantan, Indonesia. This study revealed that 8 species of Euglenids were found in the study sites which belong to 3 genera, namely Euglena, Lepocinclis, and Phacus. The Euglenid species identified include Euglena gracilis G.A. Klebs 1883, Euglena mutabilis F. Schmitz 1884, Lepocinclis acus (O.F.Müller) B.Marin & Melkonian 2003, Lepocinclis ovum (Ehrenberg) Lemmermann 1901, Lepocinclis spirogyroides B.Marin & Melkonian 2003, Phacus cordatus (Pochmann) Zakryś & Lukomska 2015, Phacus helikoides Pochmann 1942, and Phacus orbicularis Hübner 1886. The eight Euglenid species found in this study have never been reported before, thus these findings provide additional new data regarding algae diversity in peat waters of Central Kalimantan, Indonesia.

Abstract

Kegiatan pembelajaran yang baik berawal dari kesiapan perangkat pembelajaran yang digunakan oleh guru. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merancang perangkat pembelajaran secara kolaboratif antar guru dalam kegiatan Lesson Study, untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan (Research and Development) berbasis Lesson Study yang terdiri dari rangkaian kegiatan Plan, Do, dan See. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada semester ganjil tahun akademik 2022/2023 kelas 7.7 SMPN 6 kota Palangka Raya. Perangkat pembelajaran yang dikembangkan berupa RPP, LKPD dan Penilaian. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perangkat pembelajaran yang dikembangkan valid oleh validator dan observer dengan rata-rata nilai kevalidan 3,56 kategori valid. Perangkat pembelajaran yang dihasilkan efektif berdasarkan hasil belajar siswa dengan nilai rata-rata postest 80,17, respon positif dari guru rata-rata skor 81,25 dan respon siswa dengan rata-rata skor 82,33 menunjukkan bahwa perangkat pembelajaran praktis untuk digunakan. Kegiatan Lesson Study meningkatkan keterampilan kolaborasi guru dalam menyampaikan pendapat, memperhatikan guru lain, merespon guru lain dengan rata-rata skor 84,33 kriteria baik. Dengan demikian perangkat pembelajaran yang dihasilkan dapat diterapkan dalam pembelajaran karena memiliki kategori valid, efektif, dan praktis.

Abstract

Damage to peatlands causes greenhouse emissions which contribute to climate change. Climate change has impacted many aspects of human life. Mitigation of climate change must be carried out by all parties. Education is one aspect of mitigating climate change. Universities can be an example in developing programs or activities based on climate change mitigation. This PKM activity was carried out in Habarin Hurung Village, Palangka Raya City, Central Kalimantan in March 2022. This activity aimed to increase middle school students' understanding of peatlands and climate change. The PKM activity of learning cheerfully about the science of peatland conservation was carried out using a quasi-experimental research method with a one-group pretest-posttest design without a comparison group. The effectiveness of activities to increase the peatland environmental literacy of middle school students can be seen from hypothesis testing using a paired sample of 2 different tests assisted by SPSS 25. This activity produces posters made by secondary school students with the theme of peatlands and climate change. PKM activities to learn cheerfully about the science of peatland conservation effectively increase students' environmental and climate change literacy. The contents of the poster showed that students have been able to connect peatlands and global warming. Students' knowledge about peatlands and global warming is expected to foster environmentally caring behaviour. Similar activities should be carried out sustainably and with a wider community reach. Climate change mitigation activities can be carried out jointly by universities, schools and the community.Kerusakan lahan gambut menyebabkan emisi rumah kaca dan secara global akan menyebabkan perubahan iklim. Perubahan iklim telah berdampak pada banyak aspek kehidupan manusia. Mitigasi terhadap perubahan iklim harus dilakukan oleh semua pihak. Pendidikan menjadi salah satu aspek dalam mitigasi perubahan iklim. Universitas dapat menjadi contoh dalam pengembangan program atau kegiatan berbasis mitigasi perubahan iklim. Kegiatan PKM ini dilakukan di Desa Habarin Hurung, Kota Palangka Raya, Kalimantan Tengah pada bulan Maret 2022. Tujuan kegiatan ini untuk meningkatkan pemahaman siswa sekolah menengah tentang lahan gambut dan perubahan iklim. Kegiatan PKM belajar ceria sain konservasi lahan gambut dilakukan dengan metode penelitian quasi eksperimen dengan desain one group pre test-post test design tanpa kelompok pembanding. Efektivitas kegiatan untuk meningkatkan literasi lingkungan lahan gambut siswa sekolah menengah dilihat dari uji hipotesis dengan uji beda paired sample 2 test berbantuan SPSS 25.  Kegiatan ini menghasilkan produk berupa poster yang dibuat siswa sekolah menengah dengan tema lahan gambut dan perubahan iklim. Kegiatan PKM belajar ceria sain konservasi lahan gambut efektif meningkatkan literasi perubahan iklim siswa. Isi poster menunjukkan bahwa siswa telah mampu menghubungkan lahan gambut dan pemanasan global. Pengetahuan siswa tentang lahan gambut dan pemanasan global diharapkan menumbuhkan perilaku peduli lingkungan. Kegiatan serupa sebaiknya dilakukan secara berkelanjutan dan dengan jangkauan masyarakat yang lebih luas. Aktivitas mitigasi perubahan iklim dapat dilakukan bersama oleh universitas, sekolah, dan masyarakat.

Abstract

Ikan lais memiliki peran penting dalam ekosistem sungai sebagai predator dan sumber pakan bagi predator lain. Namun, ikan ini juga rentan terhadap perubahan lingkungan. Abstract

This research aims to determine environmental literacy and the influence of interdisciplinary environmental dynamic fluid physics learning using the Discovery Learning model on students' environmental literacy. This research is quantitative research using a pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design method. The technique used in this research is the saturated sample technique, which is a data analysis technique using paired samples t-test. Learning environmentally integrated dynamic fluid physics using the Discovery Learning model can increase students' environmental literacy and have a significant effect on students' knowledge, attitudes and behaviour towards the river environment. Increasing students' ecological literacy is influenced by the implementation of learning, which is quite good, and the students are active. Environmental integration physics learning must continue to be developed so that it becomes an example for teachers to manage classes with environmental literacy outcomes and as an activity to conserve freshwater resources so that the environment is sustainable.

Abstract

Polyculture farming is an agricultural practice of growing several types of crops on the same land.The sustainability of polyculture farming is influenced by the presence of insects, both ecologically beneficial and detrimental. In agricultural ecology, insects have an important role as pollinators, predators, and pests that significantly affect the health of agricultural crops, including in polyculture farms. As an effort for sustainable polyculture management, especially in pest control, an exploratory study with mixed methods was conducted to determine the diversity, distribution, and categories of insects based on their ecological roles. This study was conducted in an agricultural area with a polyculture system in Palangka Raya, Central Kalimantan, Indonesia. A total of 12 insect species were identified from polyculture farms belonging to the orders Coleoptera, Diptera, Hemiptera, Lepidoptera, and Hymenoptera. The diversity of insects found in polyculture farming in this study was categorized into low diversity with a Shannon-Wiener index (H') of 2.186. Hemiptera is known to be the most abundant with 7 species identified. Based on the number of individuals, Componotus japonicus is the most abundant species with 9 individuals. The structure of the insect community based on their ecological role in polyculture farming consisted of 58.33% insect pests, 33.33% predatory insects, and 8.33% pollinating insects.
