Abstract

One of the key competencies of graduates majoring in Civil Engineering and Planning Education, Faculty of Engineering, Yogyakarta State University (YSU) is able to plan buildings. CAD courses aim to train students to be able to pour the planning concepts into the picture. One of the obstacles faced in the course are concepts and pictures that created by the students often do not correspond to the standards used in the field. This study aims to develop a model of project-based learning so that the students’ pictures are more in line with the actual conditions in the field. This study was carried out through the stages as follows: (1) Pre test, (2) Planning of learning, (3) Implementation of the learning model of project-based learning, (4) monitoring and evaluation (5) Reflection and revision, (6) Implementation of learning in the next cycle, and (7) Evaluation of the learning outcomes. This study was conducted for four months in 2012 in the Department of Civil Engineering and Planning Education, Faculty of Engineering, YSU. The subjects of this study are the students who took the course of Computer Aided Design. The analysis of the data used descriptive qualitative and descriptive statistics. The results of this study were: (1) The implementation of project based learning model was proven to increase the learning process and the learning outcomes of students in the subject of CAD through the provision of buildings planning pictures tasks of school buildings based on the real conditions in the field. The task was delivered in every meeting and improved based on the feedback from their lecturers, (2) the learning model of project based learning will be easier to be implemented if it is accompanied by the model of peer tutoring and the learning model of PAIKEM.

Abstract

The purpose of research : (1) determine the ratio between the combination of retrofitting tetrapod-bamboo alignment-tetrapod   (FP1); bamboo flow aligner-tetrapod-bamboo flow aligner (FP2); Check Dam Stones-Gabion-Check Dam Stones (FP3); Gabion-Check Dam Stones-Gabion (FP4)? (2) The effectiveness of the combination of strengthening the tetrapod-bamboo aligner-tetrapod   (FP1); bamboo flow aligner-tetrapod-bamboo flow aligner (FP2); Check Dam Stones-Gabion-Check Dam Stones (FP3); Gabion-Check Dam Stones-Gabion (FP4)?Using the experimental method by creating a Labolatorium scale river model. Testing using clay and sand. The test model is a cliff without reinforcement and cliff with a combination of reinforcement between tetrapods; bamboo flow aligner; check Dam stones and Gabions. Testing by flowing water for 180 minutes/3 hours with a constant discharge of 7.07 liters/second, the installation of reinforcement is 51 cm apart.The results showed that (1) In general, the effect of the FP1 reinforcement installation was the variation of the combination that was considered the best in reducing scouring on the cliffs and riverbeds. (2) Variation of the combination of FP1, is more effective in reducing the scouring that occurs. At the beginning of the channel turns from STA 00-06 effectively used tetrapod installation, with scours that occur as big as -5 cm, in the middle of the STA channel 06-16 effectively using the installation of bamboo flow aligner, scours that occur as much as -1.5 cm, whereas at At the end of the turn, STA 17-24 used tetrapod installation, scouring by -3.8cm.Keyword: scouring, bamboo flow aligner, tetrapod.

Abstract

ABSTRAKSISebuah reaktor upflow anaerobic sludge blanket (UASB) digunakan untukmengetahui kemampuan proses anaerobik untuk menguraikan zat pencemarorganik dari air limbah indusri gula. Dengan menggunakan lumpur granular darireaktor UASB yang mengolah limbah industri buah dan sayur, reaktor dalampenelitian ini mampu mengurangi kandungan COD air limbah sampai 80 % dalamwaktu 5 minggu sejak pertama kali dioperasikan. Selama waktu penelitian, reaktordapat dioperasikan pada beban organik sebesar 2.7 9 COD/I·d dengan efisiensipengurangan COD rerata sebesar 86 0/0.Kata kunci: UASB, proses anaerobik, limbah industri gula

Abstract

Domestic or industrial wastewater management and treatment in many developing countries tend to imitate the systems and technology from industrialized countries by adopting a centralized wastewater processing system and treatment technologies such as activated sludge or tertiary nutrients removal. However, the effort to replicate these methods, in fact, is not an appropriate solution to overcome the problems of sanitation in developing countries, particularly Indonesia. These sophisticated technologies require a large energy supply, skilled operators as well as substantial operating costs.Furthermore, these methods do not provide any opportunity to recover energy and valuable nutrients contained in wastewater. These reasons can cause wastewater management become unsustainable. This paper will present some alternatives and concepts in the management and treatment of wastewater. It will be limited to several natural wastewater treatment alternatives to support sustainable management of water resources in terms of both technology and financing. Some low-cost appropriate technologies for wastewater treatment will also be discussed include: anaerobic treatment, wastewater treatment by waste stabilization ponds, wastewater treatment by macrophytes ponds and wastewater treatment by constructed wetlands.Keywords: wastewater, natural wastewater treatment, anaerobic treatment, waste stabilization ponds, macrophytes ponds, constructed wetlands

Abstract

Tujuan kegiatan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman warga masyarakat di sekitar Ruas Kali Jetis, Kecamatan Jatinom, Kabupaten Klaten, Jawa Tengah tentang pemetaan kawasan wisata guna pemberdayaan masyarakat lokal. Sasaran kegiatan kelompok masyarakat yang akan dijadikan sasaran kegiatan PPM yang dalam hal ini, yaitu: (1) perangkat desa di sekitar Ruas Kali Jetis, (2) organisasi pemuda dan karang taruna dan pengurus pemuda dusun yang ada di desa tersebut, (3) tokoh masyarakat dan pemuka agama desa di sekitar Ruas Kali Jetis. Pendekatan yang dilakukan seperti pelatihan dan pendampingan, survey lapangan, pemetaan pendahuluan, pemetaan detail, pemetaan ulang, pengumpulan data, pengolahan data, dan penyusunan laporan pemetaan. Tindak lanjut dari kegiatan ini adalah pengembangan sarana dan prasarana sesuai dengan hasil pemetaan Kawasan Wisata di Ruas Kali Jetis, Jatinom, Klaten. Pelaksanaan kegiatan pemetaan di Kawasan Ruas Kali Jetis, Kecamatan Jatinom, Kabupaten Klaten, Jawa Tengah dapat disimpulkan berjalan dengan baik serta mendapatkan tanggapan positif dari warga masyarakat dan perangkat desa. Warga cukup antusias dengan serangkaian kegiatan yang telah didesain.  Warga setempat juga terlibat langsung dalam pembangunan sarana dan prasarana kawasasn wisata di Ruas Kali Jetis. Output dari kegiatan pemetaan ini adalah gambar eksisting dan rencana Kawasan Wisata.

Abstract

Tujuan pada penelitian pengembangan ini adalah: 1) mengetahui bagaimana proses pengembangan job sheet pada mata kuliah Praktik Kerja Plambing dan Sanitasi untuk program studi Sarjana Pendidikan Teknik Sipil dan Perencanaan, Fakultas Teknik, Univesitas Negeri Yogyakarta, 2) mengetahui bagaimana hasil pengembangan job sheet pada mata kuliah Praktik Kerja Plambing dan Sanitasi untuk program studi Sarjana Pendidikan Teknik Sipil dan Perencanaan, Fakultas Teknik, Univesitas Negeri Yogyakarta. Model penelitian pengembangan yang digunakan menggunakan pengembangan 4-Dmodels yang dikemukakan oleh Thiagarajan dengan empat langkah utama yaitu: (1) define (pendefinisian), (2) design (perancangan), develop (pengembangan) dan (4) disseminate (penyebaran). Subjek yang disasar dalam penelitian pengembangan ini adalah mahasiswa yang sudah atau sedang melaksanakan mata kuliah praktik kerja plambing dan sanitasi. Instrumen penilaian ini menggunakan angket skala likert dengan 5 pilihan jawaban yang ditujukan kepada ahli materi, ahli media, dan pengguna atau dalam hal ini mahasiswa. Data yang diperoleh dari hasil penilaian yang dianalisis dengan teknik deskriptis kuantitatif dengan mencari harga reratanya. Berdasarkan data hasil pengembangan, dapat disimpulkan bahwa 1) proses pengembangan job sheet pada mata kuliah Praktik Kerja Plambing dan Sanitasi dilakukan menggunakan model pengembangan 4-D. 2) menurut penilaian oleh ahli materi, job sheet yang dikembangkan dikategorikan "layak" dengan nilai sebesar 82,6%, menurut ahli media dikategorikan "sangat layak" dengan nilai sebesar 94,7%, dan menurut pengguna (31 mahasiswa) dikategorikan "sangat layak" dengan nilai sebesar 90,89%. Job sheet yang dikembangkan didesiminasikan dengan cara mencetak media kemudian disebarkan dan digunakan sebagai pedoman melakukan praktik.

Abstract

Permasalahan sampah yang belum terkelola dengan baik di Dusun Serut, Pengasih, Kulon Progo, telah berkontribusi pada penurunan kualitas kebersihan lingkungan. Akar masalah utama adalah rendahnya kesadaran dan belum terbentuknya aksi kolektif masyarakat dalam pengelolaan sampah. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk membangun kesadaran (awareness) dan mendorong terwujudnya aksi nyata (real action) dalam pengelolaan sampah melalui pendekatan edukasi berbasis masyarakat. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan menggunakan pendekatan Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) yang melibatkan partisipasi aktif warga. Rangkaian kegiatan meliputi tiga tahap utama: (1) Sosialisasi dan pemetaan masalah partisipatif untuk mengidentifikasi persepsi dan kebiasaan warga; (2) Edukasi dan pelatihan intensif mengenai prinsip 3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle), pemilahan sampah dari sumbernya, dan teknik pengomposan sederhana; serta (3) Pendampingan dan inisiasi aksi nyata berupa pembentukan [contoh: Bank Sampah/Kelompok Swakelola Sampah] di tingkat dusun. Evaluasi dilakukan melalui observasi, wawancara, serta perbandingan pre-test dan post- test untuk mengukur peningkatan pengetahuan. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan antusiasme tinggi dan peningkatan pengetahuan peserta. Dampak utamanya adalah tumbuhnya kesadaran kolektif yang diwujudkan dalam aksi nyata, seperti dimulainya praktik pemilahan sampah di tingkat rumah tangga dan terbentuknya inisiatif pengelolaan sampah mandiri oleh warga. Program ini berhasil memberdayakan masyarakat Dusun Serut untuk secara proaktif dan berkelanjutan mengelola lingkungan mereka sendiri.
