Abstract

Broiler chickens are birds that grow very fast, but have low body resistance and are easily stressed. This study aimed to examine the effect of nucleotide and turmeric extract (Curcuma longa Linn) on blood profile (erythrocytes, hemoglobin and leukocytes) and carcass production (weight of carcass, weight of breast, thighs and wings) in broiler chickens. Data was collected using a completely randomized design with 7 treatments consisting of Control: basal feed + antibiotic Bacitracin Zinc 0.1 g/day; N 0 : basal feed; N 1 : basal feed + turmeric extract 600 mg/kg feed; N 2 : basal feed + nucleotide 250 mg/kg feed; N 3 : basal feed + nucleotide 250 mg/kg feed + turmeric extract 600 mg/kg feed; N 4 : basal feed + nucleotide 500 mg/kg feed; N 5 : basal feed + nucleotide 500 mg/kg feed + turmeric extract 600 mg/kg feed. The results showed that nucleotide supplementation and turmeric extract had no significant effect on weight of carcass, weight of breast, thighs and wings, hemoglobin, erythrocytes and leukocytes of broiler. The use of nucleotide and turmeric extract could not improve the blood profile of broiler.

Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the different levels of dietary protein and lysine supplementation on femur bone strength of Indonesian indigenous chickens at 12 weeks of age. The experimental materials used were DOC, without sex differentiation, reared up to 12 weeks of age. A completely randomized design (CRD) with a 2 × 3 factorial arrangement was used, with each treatment having four replicates and 10 chickens per experimental unit. The treatments applied were: P1L1 (17% protein + 0.6% lysine), P1L2 (17% protein + 0.7% lysine), P1L3 (17% protein + 0.8% lysine), P2L1 (14% protein + 0.6% lysine), P2L2 (14% protein + 0.7% lysine), and P2L3 (14% protein + 0.8% lysine). The experimental period started from the first day of observation to 12 weeks. Measured parameter: The main measured parameter was the femur bone strength after 12 weeks using an Electric Tensile Tester (Hun Ta Instruments CO. LTD, HT 8346). Also, histological examination of femur bones was conducted through a Scanning Electron Microscope-SEM at 100x. Data were subjected to ANOVA, and when there was a significant difference, Duncan's Multiple Range Test was conducted at a 5% significance level. No significant interaction was recorded between protein and lysine levels on femur bone strength at 12 weeks because P > 0.05. Conclusively, therefore, both dietary protein levels and lysine supplementation have no significant effect on bone strength in the finisher phase of growth.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to ascertain how adding fermented tea waste utilizing EM4 to male quail meals affects the weight and proportion of the pancreas and liver. One hundred four-week-old male quails (Coturnix coturnix japonica) make up the material. In vivo experimental techniques and a completely randomized design (RAL) were used in the study. Basal feed (T0), basal feed + 2% fermented tea powder waste (T1), basal feed + 2% fermented tea granule waste (T2), and basal + plus 2% fermented tea leaf waste (T3) are the treatments that were put to the test. The weight and proportion of the pancreas and liver are the variables that are being observed. The variance analysis's findings demonstrated that the liver percentage of male quails was not significantly impacted by the addition of fermented tea waste with EM4 to the meal. On the other hand, it significantly affected the male quail's liver weight. T0 is substantially different from T2 and T3, and T1 is significantly different from T2 and T3, according to the results of the Honest Significant Difference (HSD) test on the weight of male quail liver. The variance analysis's findings indicate that the weight and proportion of the pancreas are not significantly impacted by the addition of fermented tea waste in any manner. This study concludes that the supplementation of fermented tea waste (both granules and leaves) in the feed of male quails increases liver weight in male quails.

Abstract

The partnership scheme in broiler farming aims to enhance farmers' productivity and profitability through technical support, market access, and the provision of production inputs. However, variations in its implementation effectiveness significantly impact farmers' business success. This study examines the relationship between the level of partnership scheme implementation and the success of broiler farming businesses in Kutai Kartanegara Regency, East Kalimantan. A quantitative approach was employed, using structured questionnaires to collect data from 220 farmers selected through purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation, and multiple linear regression to identify key factors influencing business success, including feed management, breed quality, animal health, and technical assistance. The findings indicate that the implementation of partnership schemes has a positive and significant relationship with broiler farming success, with feed management (β = 0.45, p < 0.01) and breed quality (β = 0.39, p < 0.05) being the most influential factors. However, challenges such as fluctuating feed costs, limited access to technology, and uneven technical support hinder the optimal application of partnership schemes. Therefore, improving infrastructure, expanding access to technology, and developing cost-stabilization strategies are essential to enhancing the effectiveness of partnership schemes and ensuring the long-term sustainability of broiler farming businesses.

Abstract

This community service program aims to enhance the productivity and welfare of local farmers through the optimization of male layer chicken production. Male chickens, often considered by-products of the laying hen industry, are generally overlooked and regarded as less economically viable. However, with the application of appropriate farming strategies, male chickens can become an important alternative source of protein to support food security. The methods implemented in this program include training on poultry management, the use of efficient locally-based feed, and the development of marketing strategies for the production output. The results of the program show a significant improvement in both productivity and the efficiency of male layer chicken farming among local farmers. With ongoing support, this program is expected to become a sustainable empowerment model in the small-scale livestock farming sector.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the effect of broiler concentrate-based rations combined with corn and rice bran on the performance of native chickens. A total of four dietary treatments were formulated, namely P1 (100% broiler concentrate), P2 (75% broiler concentrate, 10% corn, 15% rice bran), P3 (50% broiler concentrate, 30% corn, 20% rice bran), and P4 (25% broiler concentrate, 55% corn, 20% rice bran). The parameters observed included feed intake, body weight gain, and feed conversion ratio (FCR). Data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA), and significant differences among treatments were further tested with Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test (DMRT). The results showed that dietary treatments significantly affected the growth performance of native chickens (P<0.05). Chickens fed diets with higher proportions of broiler concentrate (P1 and P2) exhibited better body weight gain and more efficient feed conversion compared to those receiving lower concentrate levels (P3 and P4). In contrast, increasing corn and rice bran levels tended to increase feed intake but did not proportionally improve body weight gain, resulting in poorer FCR. It can be concluded that native chickens perform optimally when fed rations containing at least 75% broiler concentrate, which provides a balance between growth and feed efficiency.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the production costs of the boriler chicken farming business with a semi-closed house system with a population of 1000 chickens. The case study approach is the methodology employed in this study. Two categories of data are utilized: primary and secondary. Recording pricing from owners is the primary source of data. Reading resources that are secondary data and are taken from government records and earlier studies. The following cost formulas were used to examine the data: depreciation costs, variable costs, total costs, total revenue, profit, R/C, and BEP. The components of cages are sufficiently advanced to reduce the negative environmental effects on broilers. Semi-closed house cages are more affordable than closed house cages, despite having technology-based component. The result shows that that feed expenses are the most expensive aspect of manufacturing. The total cost for one semi-closed house cage with a population of 1000 chickens is IDR 49,469,122. The total revenue in this study was IDR 51,045,000 and profit was IDR 1,575,878/periode. The value of R/C for semi-closed house system in this study was 1.03. A semi-closed house farm with 1000 broilers has a BEP price of IDR 49,469.12/Kg.  It is possible to operate a broiler farm with 1000 chickens using a semi-closed system. In light of the semi-closed house system broiler business's production expenses, it is hoped that the study's findings will serve as a reference for readers.
