Abstract

Infidelity in relationships is increasingly common in marriage and dating relationships. Its strong effect on mental health makes this topic worthy of further research, especially in perceptions of dating infidelity relationships. Perceptions of dating infidelity have three dimensions: ambiguous, deceptive, and explicit infidelity. This study uses a quantitative design with a total of 77 women and using convenience sampling. We analyzed using simple regression analysis. Data collection used The Forgiveness Scale and Perception of Dating Infidelity Scale. The results of this study indicate a significant negative effect between the perception of dating infidelity and forgiveness behavior in the women population who are victims of infidelity value F(1,75) = 5,114, p= 0.027, adj. R2= 0.051, and regression coefficient (β=-0,091). Ambiguous behavior F(1,75) = 4,582, p= 0.036, adj. R2= 0.045, and regression coefficient (β=-0,077) and deceptive behavior F(1,75) = 4,035, p= 0.048, adj. R2= 0.038, and regression coefficient (β=-0,054) dimensions have a significant relationship with forgiveness. Whereas explicit behavior is not significant F(1,75) = 1,425, p= 0.236, adj. R2= 0.006, and regression coefficient (β=-0,028). This research is an initial study on the perception of dating infidelity in Indonesia. It can be expected to be helpful as a study material in designing educational activities such as preventing infidelity in marriage preparation.

Abstract

Background: Envy could worsen fear of missing out (FoMO) by encouraging comparison with others via social media use. Studies also found that loneliness could further increase individual's activeness on social media and shifting face-to-face social activities. Purpose: This research aims to test the moderating role of loneliness in envy and fear of missing out.Method: 538 respondents aged 18-34 years who use Instagram participated by completing Benign Envy Malicious Scale (BEMAS), UCLA Loneliness Scale, and FoMO scale. The data obtained is then analyzed by moderation regression testing with the following models: 1) Envy and Loneliness Model, 2) Envy, Loneliness, and moderator (Envy x Loneliness). Findings: The results show that envy, t(535) = 8.523, p < .001, and loneliness, t(535) = 2.389, p < .001, have a positive influence on FoMO. Furthermore, loneliness is proven to partially moderate the relationship between envy and FoMO, which gives the buffering effect on the relationship; results presented in the article. This finding happened because there are factors for self-exclusion of individuals when experiencing loneliness. Implication: Further research is suggested to look in the opposite direction from Envy towards FoMO to FoMO against Envy, and this is done to see if jealous behavior is caused by FoMO, which envy can cause mental problems for most individuals.

Abstract

In the context of behavior, prosocial behavior is needed to maintain individual relationships with others. This behavior has existed among Islamic college students known as Santri. Santri, as an adolescent, has the concept of establishing relationships through prosocial behavior. Therefore, a measuring instrument is needed to determine Santri’s prosocial behavior. The Prosociality Scale is one of the popular instruments in measuring prosocial behavior, and it is essential to adapt and validate the instrument with the characteristics of the Indonesian sample, especially Santri. This study presents evidence of validity and reliability using the Rating Scale Rasch Measurement Model. With a sample of 742, 424 (57.1%) were female and 318 (42.9%) were male. This instrument has met the criteria of good psychometrics according to the Rasch model regarding reliability (0.82 - 0.99) and validity and fulfills the need for measurement invariance.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has reshaped students’ academic environments, increasing psychological vulnerability due to prolonged social isolation and rising academic demands. This study explores how loneliness contributes to academic stress and whether self-compassion can buffer this relationship. While previous studies have examined loneliness and self-compassion independently, this study uniquely integrates both constructs into a unified model and tests the moderating role of self-compassion-a relationship that has rarely been empirically explored. Using a quantitative method with convenience sampling, data were collected from 88 university students in Indonesia aged 18-25 years. Participants completed standardized scales measuring loneliness, academic stress, and self-compassion via an online form. Multiple regression and moderation analyses revealed that loneliness positively predicted academic stress, while self-compassion had a negative effect. Importantly, self-compassion significantly moderated the impact of loneliness on academic stress, confirming its buffering role across low, moderate, and high levels. These findings demonstrate that self-compassion functions as an emotional coping resource capable of reducing stress associated with social isolation. This study contributes to the literature by addressing a key gap concerning the interaction between social and intrapersonal factors in predicting academic stress, and it offers practical implications for psychological support strategies in academic settings.

Abstract

The rising popularity of ChatGPT has an impact on student learning behavior. This study focused on how ChatGPT use and learning motivation affect students' self-directed learning. This study involved 98 respondents, who were undergraduate and master's students and had used ChatGPT for learning at least 1 (one) time, selected using the convenience sampling technique. This research employed multiple regression analysis methods. The research results show a significant and positive influence of ChatGPT use (R=0.747, β=0.419, p<0.01) and learning motivation (R=0.802, β=0.553, p<0.01) on self-directed learning. The study also found that learning motivation provided higher contribution to self-directed learning than ChatGPT use. These findings offer new insights to the existing knowledge on the role of artificial intelligence and learning motivation in supporting self-directed learning in students.

Abstract

One of the obstacles that become a concern in the world of education is academic stress because student expectations still need to be achieved in learning with the reality of learning that occurs. The purpose of this study was to determine the role of self-efficacy on academic stress with optimism. This research is a cross-sectional quantitative research with ex post facto method. The sampling technique used is convenience sampling. Respondents totaled 113 people with questionnaires as a method and instrument of data collection. The data analysis technique used is inferential statistical analysis. The results showed that there was no relationship between academic self-efficacy and optimism, as well as academic stress. In the variable relationship with the academic stress dimension, academic self-efficacy is associated with learning pressure and hopelessness.  There is also a significant effect of academic self-efficacy on academic stress, and optimism has a significant effect on academic stress. This suggests a significant influence on both variables predictors of academic stress, confirming that optimism cannot be used as a moderator between academic self-efficacy and educational stress. This research provides valuable implications in efforts to improve post-COVID academic stress management, by providing a deeper understanding of the role of self-efficacy and optimism in managing such stress

Abstract

This study explores the psychometric properties of the Indonesian version of the Self-Efficacy Scale for English Language Learners (SES-ELL). With the growing importance of English proficiency in Indonesia, understanding learners’ self-efficacy beliefs—defined as confidence in their ability to perform language tasks—is crucial. The study examines the validity and reliability of the SES-ELL, utilizing a cross-sectional, quantitative approach with a sample of 165 undergraduate English language students from public and private universities. Data were collected via the adapted 32-item Questionnaire of English Self-Efficacy (QESE), measured on a 7-point scale. Results showed that the SES-ELL meets unidimensionality requirements, with Principal Component Analysis of Residuals explaining 68.6% of the variance. Reliability indicators were robust, with an Item Separation Reliability (ISR) of 0.96 and a Person Separation Reliability (PSR) of 0.97, suggesting strong differentiation among learners' self-efficacy levels. Item analysis identified four items needing revision due to fit inconsistencies. The study confirms SES-ELL as a reliable tool for measuring self-efficacy among Indonesian English learners, offering insights into their confidence across language skills. Future research should refine the scale further to ensure optimal measurement accuracy and support targeted interventions to improve learners' self-efficacy and performance in English
