Quantitative research using pre-experiment, one group pretest posttest design. The study involved 32 students as a population, with 5 students who had low self-esteem as a sample. Purposive sampling method is used to obtain samples. The results show the self-esteem level of State Middle School 1 students Sumbergempol is in the lowest category of 10 (31%), medium 16 (50%), and high 6 (19%). There was a significant difference between the results before and after treatment with rational emotive behavioral counselling, according to the t-test double sample test, with a 2-tailed Sig significance value of 0.001 <0.05, which means there were significant differences between the outcomes prior and following treatment, so that rational emotive behavior counseling effectively increased the student's self-esteem. Rational Emotive Behavior Counseling (REBC) is effective in improving self-esteem because this approach focuses on cognitive restructuring, which involves changing irrational beliefs that contribute to low self-esteem into more rational and adaptive thought patterns. Additionally, REBC teaches emotional regulation and behavior management skills, helping individuals develop a more positive self-perception, increase self-confidence, and build resilience against social and emotional pressures.

Abstract

This study intends to examine the significance of the motivations underlying the incidence of contested divorce, the factors contributing to the occurrence of contested divorce, and the feelings associated with contested divorce In Tulungagung Regency. The research subjects, i.e., the defendants in the litigation the researcher researched, were analyzed using a qualitative research methodology and a phenomenological model. Choosing research participants based on data gathered through interviews, observations, and life experiences using the snowball sampling technique (self-report). Data reduction, presentation, verification, and decision-making techniques were used in the analysis of the data, while tests for the data's dependability, trustworthiness, and certainty were used to ascertain its validity. The study's conclusions suggest that the motivation to have a divorce is driven by the needs for survival, security, affection, self-esteem, and self-actualization. Economic difficulties, carelessness (neglect/neglect), domestic violence treatment, family system support, poor behavior (drinking, returning home at night without a good cause), and a lack of knowledge and marriage preparedness were among the factors identified. Pre-divorce (a time of conflict), divorce process (mediation/divorce decision), and post-divorce are the three periods into which emotions are divided in accordance with the current divorce process.

Abstract

The mental health of adolescents and young adults in educational settings has become increasingly urgent, while conventional psychological support services are not always able to meet these needs in a rapid, flexible, and broad manner. This study aimed to synthesize the opportunities for utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) in guidance and counseling, examine the effectiveness of AI- and digital-based services, and map the ethical issues associated with their implementation. This study employed a systematic literature review (SLR) approach following the PRISMA 2020 guidelines to review articles published between 2021 and 2025. The initial search identified 87 articles. After the stages of identification, screening, and eligibility assessment, 19 articles were selected and analyzed using narrative thematic synthesis. The findings revealed three major themes: (1) the potential of AI to expand access, enhance personalization, and improve service efficiency; (2) the effectiveness of digital services such as cybercounseling, chatbots, and hybrid AI-human models in reducing certain psychological problems; and (3) the prominence of ethical issues, including data privacy, algorithmic bias, information security, and counselors’ professional readiness. This study concludes that AI should be positioned as a strategic partner that supports humanistic counseling services rather than as a full replacement for human counselors.

Abstract

Self-harm is a maladaptive emotion-regulation strategy experienced by university students facing intense psychological distress. This study aimed to explore the subjective experiences of Muslim university students who engaged in self-harm and to examine the roles of irrational belief systems and spirituality in their recovery process. Using a qualitative approach with an interpretative phenomenological design, data were collected from six Muslim undergraduate students in Tulungagung, Indonesia, consisting of five females and one male aged 20–22 years, who were in their fourth and eighth semesters. Data we re obtained through semi-structured interviews, observations, and documentation/life history, and were analyzed thematically using REBT-based coding. The findings generated three main themes: (1) self-harm as an emotion-regulation mechanism in the absence of a safe relational space, reinforced by frustration intolerance; (2) interpersonal trauma as the root of awfulizing and self-downing beliefs; and (3) recovery through belief-system reconstruction supported by relational support, meaningful activities, and Islamic spirituality. These findings indicate that self-harm should not be understood merely as deviant behavior, but as an expression of unresolved emotional distress maintained by irrational beliefs. The study highlights the need for culturally sensitive, trauma-informed, and spiritually integrated RREBT-based counseling interventions for Muslim university students experiencing self-harm tendencies.
