Abstract

The aim of this research is to explore how to design and implement the use of a DHT11 sensor with Arduino in a moringa leaf dryer for temperature and humidity control. The device design process involves the preparation of all necessary equipment and the creation of Arduino source code. This code makes connections between the Arduino uno, DHT11 sensor, LCD display, relay and fan using jumper cables, allowing the results obtained to be displayed on the LCD screen. Temperature and humidity are monitored at 15 minute intervals over a 7 hour period and the fan is automatically activated in the event of temperature fluctuations during each drying phase. The research results show that the device design system includes hardware components such as the Arduino Uno and the DHT11 sensor, LCD display and fan. In addition, the software program for the monitoring system, initialised using the Arduino IDE, has been successfully designed and works effectively. Based on the equipment test results, the average moisture content of the Moringa leaves is 7.2% compared to the initial moisture content of 73%. These results underline the efficiency of the developed system in achieving the desired drying results.

Abstract

Currently, attention is increasing on the management of border rivers, particularly in ASEAN member countries. A large portion of the border between Indonesia and Timor-Leste is river-bound, and communities are highly active in exploiting its potential. However, studies on river resource utilization in the border region between Indonesia and Timor-Leste are still very rare. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the relationship between community social characteristics, perceptions of river utilization, and analysis of the physical condition of the river. This research was conducted on the Motamasin River in Alas Selatan Village, on the Indonesia-Timor Leste border. A mixed methods approach was used, combining quantitative data in the form of social surveys and river discharge measurements with qualitative data from community perceptions through interviews and field observations. The results indicate that the majority of the community is of productive age and has a secondary or higher education level, which supports their understanding of the importance of sustainable water management. The Motamasin River is predominantly used for household and agricultural purposes, while fisheries use is still limited due to water quality degradation. The river's morphology exhibits intermittent characteristics with significant discharge fluctuations, ranging from 100 to 400 m³/s. These findings emphasize the importance of an interdisciplinary approach to water resource management that simultaneously considers social and physical aspects, especially in vulnerable border areas that have not been optimally served by national development policies.

Abstract

Motaulun Village in West Malaka District is a center of rice paddy production in the Indonesia–Timor-Leste border region. However, rice productivity in this village remains suboptimal despite favorable land and climate potential. This study aims to analyze the influence of production factors such as land area, seed quantity, fertilizer, labor, and farming experience on rice yield. This study employed a quantitative survey of 41 purposively selected rice farmers, with data analyzed using multiple linear regression to assess the effects of land area, seed use, fertilizer, labor, and farming experience on rice production. The results show that land area, seeds, and fertilizer have a positive and significant effect on rice production, while labor and farming experience are not significant. The regression model has a coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.741, indicating that the model can explain 74.1% of the variation in rice production. These findings provide an important empirical basis for agricultural extension agents and policymakers in designing evidence-based strategies to improve agricultural productivity, particularly in rural and border areas with limited resources.

Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the effect of modifying a hydraulic briquette press by adding a retaining plate to the molding cylinder on machine performance and the physical–mechanical quality of tamarind shell briquettes. The research was conducted experimentally by comparing the performance of the press before and after modification. The observed parameters included compaction pressure, briquette weight, production efficiency, dimensions, and compressive strength. The results showed that the addition of the retaining plate increased the compaction pressure from 60 kg/m² to 120 kg/m². Briquette weight increased from 50.75 g to 54.75 g, while production efficiency improved from 65.86% to 67.57%. The compressive strength of the briquettes also increased from 26.5 kg/m² to 31 kg/m². The improvement indicates that the retaining plate enhanced force transmission efficiency and created a confined compaction condition, resulting in a denser internal structure and better mechanical resistance. Overall, this simple structural modification effectively improved briquette quality without increasing the jack capacity and can be applied as an appropriate technology for laboratory and small-scale production systems.

Abstract

The rapid expansion of digital payment technologies has transformed financial transaction behavior, particularly in emerging urban environments. However, adoption decisions are influenced not only by technological functionality but also by psychological factors. This study examines the effect of perceived ease of use on digital payment usage decisions, with trust positioned as a mediating variable. A quantitative approach was employed using survey data collected from 96 digital payment users in Kupang City, Indonesia. The data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The results indicate that perceived ease of use has a significant positive effect on trust (β = 0.870, p < 0.001) and usage decision (β = 0.612, p < 0.001). Trust also significantly influences usage decision (β = 0.295, p = 0.020) and partially mediates the relationship between perceived ease of use and usage decision. The model demonstrates substantial explanatory power, with R² values of 0.757 for trust and 0.776 for usage decision, and a good model fit (SRMR = 0.042). These findings extend the Technology Acceptance Model by demonstrating that usability influences digital payment adoption through both direct functional pathways and indirect trust-building mechanisms. The study highlights the strategic importance of integrating usability and trust to promote digital payment adoption in emerging urban contexts.

Abstract

Se’i, a traditional smoked meat from East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia, has a strong cultural identity and economic potential; however, its production still relies on conventional firewood, resulting in inconsistent quality, energy inefficiency, and unstable production costs. This study aims to implement an integrated empowerment model that combines green energy innovation, financial literacy, and digital marketing to strengthen the sustainability of se’i micro and small enterprises (MSMEs) in Kupang City. The program was conducted using a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach within a structured, integrated empowerment framework, including a baseline assessment, biomass briquette training and simulation, financial literacy workshops with SI-APIK digital bookkeeping implementation, digital marketing training, and a before–after evaluation. The results show a 22–28% reduction in fuel consumption per production cycle, improved stability of smoking temperature and product consistency, full adoption of simple financial reporting and cost-of-production calculation among partners, and increased digital engagement and transactions. The integration of biomass briquettes from Kesambi leaves, structured financial management, and data-driven digital marketing synergistically improved cost efficiency, managerial capacity, and market expansion. In conclusion, the integrated empowerment model effectively enhances production efficiency, financial transparency, and business competitiveness, offering a replicable framework for strengthening traditional food MSMEs through green innovation and digital transformation.

Abstract

This study examines the influence of advertising and service quality on the purchase decision of Traveloka online flight tickets among the people of Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. A quantitative approach with a causal design was employed. The population consisted of all Kupang residents who had ever purchased flight tickets through Traveloka, and a sample of 96 respondents was determined using the Rao Purba formula. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using multiple linear regression, t-tests, F-tests, and coefficient of determination. The results show that advertising has a positive and significant partial effect on purchase decisions (t = 2.801, p < 0.05), and service quality also has a positive and significant partial effect (t = 2.693, p < 0.05). Simultaneously, both variables significantly influence purchase decisions (F = 7.270, p < 0.05). However, the adjusted R² value is only 0.117, indicating that advertising and service quality explain just 11.7% of the variance in purchase decisions. Descriptive analysis shows that respondents perceive both advertising and service quality as high, with mean index scores of 87.3 and 82.6 respectively. The study concludes that while advertising and service quality are important determinants, other factors such as price, trust, and word-of-mouth likely play larger roles. Traveloka should maintain its advertising effectiveness and improve responsiveness to customer complaints. Future research should include additional variables to better explain purchase decisions.
