Abstract

Compliment responses are one of speech act types in pragmatic study. This study is aimed (1) to investigate the strategies used by the American and Makassarese people in responding to the complim ent, (2) to compare the response tendencies used by American and the Makassarese people based on Gender and age; and (3) to investigate the cultural influences on the American and Makassarese response.The research was a comparative study which and used a descriptive- qualitative approach. The data were collected from youtube.com and DCT questionnaire. The data were analyzed using a number of techniques, namely noting down the utterances, categorizing the responses identified based on Holmes’ semantic formula and explaining the cultural influences based on their responses. Firstly, the research result revealed that both the American and Makassarese people used 3 compliment strategies: accepting, evading and refusing. Americans would use the evading strategy when the speaker and his interlocutor were good friends; while a Makassarese would either use the evading strategy or the refusing strategy in his responses, when the speaker and his interlocutor were of a different kinship hierarchy, such as between the older and the younger brothers or sisters and between husband and wife. Secondly, The comparison of the compliment responses between the American and Makassarese males indicated that an American male had the tendency to evade a compliment in every topic except teenager had tendency to accept the compliment in any topic. While a Makassarese male tend to receive the compliment for all the topics, except for the comp liment for an achievement.on the other hand, an American woman had tendency to accept a compliment for all topics, but an older woman had a tendency to refuse a compliment. a Makassarese woman, had also a tendency to accept a compliment for all topics. Finally, Makassarese people, both men and women had the tendency to accept, evade or refuse compliments when they had kinship.

Abstract

Abstract. The Relationship of Psycholinguistics in the Acquisition and the Language Learning. Through psychological we can learn about how the attitudes and behavior of students in acquiring and learning the language while through linguistic whereas we can learn about the concept and structure of the language it self. At this stage of language acquisition are found four phases of language acquisition in children, namely: (1) Time of Babblings (starting from age 0 sampai1 year), (2) Time of Holofrase (beginning at age 1 to 2 years), (3) Time of Speech Two words (beginning at age 2 up to 2 years and 6 months) (4) Time of starts Grammar (beginning at age 2 years and 6 months - up to 3 years of age). And four advanced stages, namely; (1) Stage of sensorimotor (birth until the age of 2–3 years), (2) the pre-operational stage (ages 3 to 6 or 7 years), (3)The Operational Discipline stage (ages 6/7 years to 11 or 12 years), (4) Operations formal stage (age 12 to adult). While the formal process of learning a language in a formal setting as well, such as language learning in the classroom. Not important to learn anywhere though not in the classroom during the learning process directed at the mastery of the language rule is recognized by educators and learners, its process is called learning. In the process of formal and informal learning the psycholinguistic process works to acquire knowledge through learning languages. This interdisciplinary so can lead educators to understand the processes that occur within each learners face when they try to understand and provide the missing understanding of language learning material presented in the class.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the process of children's language development and to find out the application of the language acquisition model of 'linguistic behavior' in foreign language learning.The design of this study was a quasi-experimental time series design. The populations in this study were all first graders at theSamarindaUlu International Elementary School, Samarinda City. The sample is the part of the population that is considered as the representative of the population. The sampling technique used is purposive sampling. The sample inclusion criteria were 15 first grade students at SamarindaUluInternational Elementary School who were selected based on their foreign language knowledge abilities. Data were taken from respondents based on three times of habituation by applying the linguistic behavior model.The results of the study showed that the process of children's language acquisition in language learning consists of two processes, namely the understanding process and the mastery process. The process of understanding is obtained naturally by every child through the experiences he/she has gone through. Furthermore, the process of mastering language is acquired after the child is able to apply the language that is understood based on the actual function and the meaning of the language. The application of the linguistic behavior language acquisition model conducted through several stages of habituation (1, 2 and 3) which can help to improve language development at 1st graders at SamarindaUlu International Elementary School, Samarinda, especially in learning English. By doing the habituation, children are helped to understand and master the foreign language they are learning, such as when they acquire the first language through habituation or experience that they are not even aware of.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigate the pragmatic failure in English and Arabic students at the UIN Alauddin Makassar's Faculty of Adab and Cultural Studies. The data for the study were gathered through observation, distribution of questionnaires in the form of a discourse completeness test (DCT), and interviews. Quantitative and qualitative research data were collected in this research. This study employed three statistical models or techniques: descriptive statistics, association rules (a priori algorithm), Chi Square, and qualitative analysis. The results shos that there are three kinds of pragmatic failure that produced by the English and Arabic students such as sociopragmatic, pragmalinguistic, and psychopragmatic aspects. In addition, The researcher suggests to the next researcher to study more deeply about the types of pragmatic failure in other fields.

Abstract

This is motivated by the importance of taxes for state revenues and increasing regional finances. To achieve this goal, the government carries out the effectiveness of tax collection to increase regional income. By implementing the effectiveness of tax collection, the government expects tax revenue to be more optimal and reach the targets that have been set previously. The purpose of this study was conducted to determine the effectiveness of land and building tax collection at the Makassar City Regional Revenue Service in supporting Makassar City's PAD and to find out the inhibiting factors and supporters of PBB collection at the Makassar City Revenue Service. To achieve the objectives of this study, the type of research used is descriptive qualitative, namely to provide a clear picture of the problems studied, interpret and explain data systematically at the Makassar City Revenue Service with a qualitative research approach, namely conducting interviews with respondents who contain questions regarding matters related to research. The results of the study show that the effectiveness of land and building tax collection at the Regional Revenue Service of Makassar City is good or effective. However, the effectiveness of the collection can be increased so that the goals of the organization, namely increasing tax revenue, can be fulfilled. Meanwhile, to measure the effectiveness of land and building tax collection, namely by looking at the level of taxpayer compliance as measured through the juridical aspect. consists of WP registration, SPT reporting, tax calculation and tax payment.

Abstract

The Influence of Organizational Culture on the Effectiveness of Employee Performance at Hasanuddin University, this study aims to determine whether there is an influence between organizational culture on the effectiveness of employee performance, as well as to determine the role of cultural influences on the effectiveness of the performance of postgraduate employees at Hasanuddin University. This study used a qualitative research method with a descriptive approach, while the data collection techniques used were observation, interviews, and questionnaires. The data were analyzed by simple regression with the help of SPSS22.0 software for windows. The sample used is a saturated sample that uses all members of the population as a sample of 33 people.

Abstract

Pragmatic transfer is currently the subject of research by many researchers. Sociopragmatic and linguistic pragmatic factors were discovered as aspects influencing practical transfers. The aim of this study is to examine the aspects that drive the development of pragmatic transfer. This study used the discourse completion test. This required interviewing 33 of his English students and 33 of her Arabic students. This research shows that there is a psychoparagmatic dimension to how foreign language learners use and influence the language they are learning in interacting with others. By observing the psychology of the languages ​​spoken by Arabic and English students in UIN Alauddin Makassar, the mental-practical aspects that were the focus of the researcher's analysis of this study were found to be social-practical. It had the same effect as the physical aspect.

Abstract

This study aims to see the effect of the effectiveness of electronic attendance (finger print) on employee discipline, both in terms of attendance level, convenience and comfort in the attendance process and the application of electronic attendance (finger print) in making it easier for superiors to see employee discipline both in terms of attendance, as well as employee discipline. The results of the study show that the application of finger print attendance has increased employee work discipline, seen from the achievement of targets after the application of finger print attendance has been achieved, where it is known that there are still many employees who are disciplined at work such as arriving on time to the office. Adaptability, employees already understand the procedures regulations for using finger print attendance and being able to adjust from manual attendance to finger print attendance due to previous trials. Job satisfaction for employees is good because of additional employee income (TPP). While the responsibilities of the employees have progressed but not maximized, because there are still employees who leave the office after filling in absences for personal needs. has not increased, there are still many employees who come late to the office. This study discusses the effect of finger print absences on employee discipline. This research is motivated by the problem of the level of punctuality of employees when entering and leaving work, so that it becomes an interesting phenomenon to study. This type of research is qualitative research. Data collection techniques used in this study through interviews, observation, and documentation.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to find out the review of employee motivation at the Hotel Arborbiz Makassar.The type of research used is descriptive qualitative, in which the author describes the results of observations and direct interviews with employees at Hotel Arborbiz Makassar. Writing this Final Project is the result of research conducted from June to July 2022.The results showed that the work motivation of employees at Hotel Arborbiz Makassar was seen from several factors that influenced employee motivation, such as promotions, work performance, the work itself, awards, responsibilities and recognition from superiors.
