The effects can lead to both short-term and long-term impacts, which require immediate attention. One effective approach is school-based intervention using audiovisual media that is engaging for students. Health education through audiovisual educational media helps improve the adaptive psychological function of schoolchildren in response to bullying, as seen at SDIT Paripurna 3 in Cimahi Selatan, Cimahi City. The method used involved videos and illustrated stories with audio designed to capture students' interest. These were presented directly to the students, followed by discussions about the videos. A total of 41 students participated in this community service activity, and the analysis revealed an improvement in the average score for psychological adaptation to bullying, particularly in aspects such as self-awareness, social engagement, and positive expectations about oneself in the environment. However, there was a decrease in the self-management score. In conclusion, health education through audiovisual media is an effective way to improve students' adaptation to bullying. The follow-up plan is to implement audiovisual media activities periodically to further enhance students' adaptive abilities in addressing bullying at school and reduce passive bystander behavior. Periodic monitoring or evaluation is necessary, with the implementation plan requiring the agreement of school officials, parents, stakeholders, and students. Suggestion: School nurses can utilize innovative health media, such as audiovisual tools, to improve the psychological adaptation functions of school children experiencing bullying. Keywords: Adaptive Psychological, Audiovisual, Bullying, Students, Education

Abstract

This study was conducted against the backdrop of increasing sedentary behavior, which is negatively associated with mental health outcomes such as stress and anxiety, particularly among young adults facing academic pressures and psychological stressors. This research aimed to evaluate the effect of Tai Chi exercise on stress, anxiety, and depression levels among nursing students with a sedentary lifestyle. The study employed an experimental design with pretest-posttest assessments, involving 60 students randomly divided into intervention and control groups. The intervention group performed Tai Chi exercises for 40 minutes, three times a week, over 21 days, while the control group did not receive any intervention. Data were analyzed using independent t-tests. The results showed a significant decrease in anxiety and stress scores (p=0.001) following the intervention, whereas the effect on depression was not statistically significant (p=0.071). Overall, Tai Chi was effective in reducing anxiety and stress, although it did not significantly impact depression levels. In conclusion, Tai Chi can be used as a non-pharmacological method to improve mental health and reduce stress among students with a sedentary lifestyle.

Abstract

Hypertension, characterized by diastolic pressure exceeding 90 mmHg and systolic pressure surpassing 140 mmHg, poses a significant health challenge often addressed through pharmacological antihypertensive therapy. This research endeavors to evaluate the impact of complementary interventions, specifically deep breathing relaxation and progressive muscle relaxation, on reducing blood pressure among hypertensive patients within the operational domain of the Kertasemaya Community Health Center in the Indramayu Regency in 2023. Adopting a Quasi-Experimental Design with a Pretest-Posttest and Control Group paradigm, the study engaged a cohort of 70 respondents stratified into intervention and control groups. The intervention group underwent a combined therapy of deep breathing relaxation and progressive muscle relaxation, followed by a meticulous post-test for final observations. Meanwhile, the control group underwent an initial blood pressure measurement (pre-test), a relaxation period of 15-30 minutes, and concluded with a post-test for final measurements. The study revealed a statistically significant influence (p=0.013) on average blood pressure within the intervention group compared to the control group. This disparity was observed both before and after the implementation of deep breathing relaxation and progressive muscle relaxation techniques among hypertensive respondents. These findings underscore the potential efficacy of non-pharmacological interventions in mitigating hypertension and enhancing patient well-being. The combination of deep breathing relaxation and progressive muscle relaxation emerges as a highly effective strategy in reducing blood pressure among hypertensive individuals. This integrative therapeutic approach showcases promising potential for promoting cardiovascular well-being, offering a valuable non-pharmacological avenue for hypertension management

Abstract

Background : Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) represent a major occupational health concern among agricultural workers in Indonesia. These conditions commonly arise from repetitive workloads, awkward or non-ergonomic body positions, and insufficient understanding of ergonomic practices. As a result, farmers may experience ongoing discomfort, reduced work capacity, and a decline in overall well-being. Objective : The purpose of this study was to assess the effectiveness of an Ergonomics Exercise Program (EEP) in alleviating musculoskeletal complaints among farmers. Methods : This study applied a pre- and post-intervention design involving 85 farmers. Symptoms related to musculoskeletal disorders were evaluated before and after the intervention using the Visual Analog Scale (VAS) and the Nordic Body Map (NBM). The Ergonomics Exercise Program was carried out over a two-week period, with participants performing 10-minute exercise sessions each day prior to starting work. The intervention focused on flexibility training, strengthening of core muscles, and correction of working posture. Changes in MSD symptoms were analyzed statistically to determine the effect of the program. Results : Before the intervention, 54% of participants reported mild pain, while 46% experienced moderate pain levels. The most commonly affected body areas included the calves (62.3%), lower back (45.8%), arms (40%), and shoulders (28.2%). Following the implementation of the Ergonomics Exercise Program, a statistically significant reduction in musculoskeletal complaints was observed (p < 0.05), particularly in the lower back, shoulders, and calves. Conclusion : The findings indicate that the Ergonomics Exercise Program effectively reduced musculoskeletal disorder symptoms among farmers. Incorporating ergonomics-based exercise routines into agricultural nursing and occupational health initiatives may offer a practical and sustainable approach to improving worker health and preventing MSDs in rural farming populations in Indonesia.

Abstract

Background: Pre-elderly individuals often suffer from hypertension, a chronic condition that often causes anxiety due to increased sympathetic nervous system activity. By increasing parasympathetic activity and muscle relaxation, non-pharmacological techniques such as Progressive Muscle Relaxation (PMR) and Slow Breathing Exercises (SBE) have been shown to reduce anxiety levels. Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine the impact of progressive muscle relaxation and slow breathing exercises on anxiety levels in pre-elderly individuals with hypertension in Depok Village, Pakenjeng District, Garut Regency. Methods: This study used a quasi-experimental, non-randomized pre-post-test design with two groups (intervention vs. control). 100 pre-elderly participants were selected using purposive sampling. The intervention lasted for one month and consisted of two 30-minute sessions per week. The Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HARS) was used to assess anxiety symptoms. Results were analyzed statistically using the paired samples t test and the independent samples t test for samples with a significance level of p < 0.05. Results: The results of the study found that after the intervention, anxiety scores in the intervention group decreased significantly from a mean of 27.88 (SD 8.47) to a mean of 12.80 (SD 4.82) (p < 0.001), with a substantial effect size (Cohen's d = 2.21). In the control group, the decrease from a mean of 28.82 (SD 9.10) to a mean of 21.94 (SD 7.18) was less pronounced. A significant difference remained between the two groups after the intervention (mean difference = 9.14; 95% CI: 6.72–11.56; p < 0.001), indicating that the combination of SBE and PMR was effective in reducing anxiety. Conclusion: The combination of slow breathing exercises and progressive muscle relaxation is effective in reducing anxiety levels in pre-elderly people with hypertension. This intervention can be recommended as a non-pharmacological supportive therapy in public health services.
