Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengkaji kualitas fisik organoleptik UMMB (Urea Molases MultiNutrien Block)  berbasis bahan lokal sebagai pakan suplemen. Uji organoleptik dilakukan dengan cara memberikan penilaian pada tiap perlakuan yang dilakukan oleh panelis semi terlatih sebanyak 20 orang. Penelitian menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) dengan taraf signifikansi 5%, terdiri atas empat perlakuan dan lima ulangan. Perlakuan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah P0: Penyimpanan 0 hari (Kontrol), P1: Penyimpanan 2 minggu, P2: Penyimpanan 4 minggu, dan P3: Penyimpanan 8 minggu. Variable yang diamati yaitu aroma, tekstur, warna, dan keberadaan jamur. Hasil penelitian tidak menunjukkan pengaruh yang signifikan (P>0.05) terhadap nilai rata-rata warna dan aroma dan berpengaruh signifikan (P<0.05) terhadap nilai rata-rata tekstur dan keberadaan jamur. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa UMMB dengan lama penyimpanan sampai 4 minggu menunjukkan hasil yang baik ditinjau dari hasil uji organolepti meliputi tekstur warna, aroma, tekstur dan keberadaan jamur.

Abstract

Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia, on March 31, 2020, the government of the Republic of Indonesia has adopted a new policy known as PSBB (Pembatasan Sosial Berskala Besar) commonly known as "lockdown". Fulfillment of animal feed ingredients in West Sumatra Province which is still met from outside the province causes disruption of animal feed distribution during the PSBB. This research was conducted by interviewing 50 farmers during the PSBB policy. The data was collected from observations on maintenance. feed ingredients availability, as well as feed ingredients prices. According to the findings of this survey, there was a change in each variable. For example, in the variable transportation of chicken feed materials, 74% of respondents stated that it was smooth during PSBB and reduced by 56% during PSBB. Meanwhile, for the variable availability of chicken feed ingredients, 92% of respondents stated that when the PSBB was adopted, respondents' answers were reduced to 78%, and for the last variable, 24% of respondents stated that feed prices had climbed and treatment. In Indonesia, 76% of respondents said there was no change in prices before and after the PSBB policy was implemented in Lima Puluh Kota Regency, Province of West Sumatera.

Abstract

Pemerintah Daerah (Pemda) Provinsi Sulawesi Barat mengadakan pengusulan pembetukan Unit Pelaksana Teknis Daerah (UPTD) Pembibitan Ternak dan Pakan pada tahun 2016 untuk dapat mengolah dan mengembangkan industri peternakan di wilayah Sulawesi Barat khususnya Kabupaten Majene yang sedang mengembangkan bibit Kambing Peranakan Etawa (PE). Kambing PE merupakan kambing hasil persilangan Kambing Etawa (kambing jenis unggul dari India) dengan Kambing Kacang (lokal) yang relatif lebih baik mampu beradaptasi dengan kondisi iklim Indonesia. Penelitian lapangan ini yang bertujuan untuk memberi informasi dan gambaran mengenai tata laksana manajemen pemberian pakan pada ternak kambing di UPTD X. Metode pengumpulan data yang dilakukan untuk mengetahui tata laksana manajemen pemberian pakan pada ternak kambing di UPTD X yaitu dengan cara mengikuti praktik secara langsung, melakukan pengumpulan data melalui wawancara, dan observasi langsung terkait data keadaan umum, sumber pakan, prosedur pemberian pakan, dan manajemen pemberian pakan kambing PE di UPTD X. UPTD X memiliki 24 ekor kambing PE yang dipelihara dengan sistem intensif. Pakan ternak yang diberikan di UPTD X terdiri dari hijauan segar, konsentrat dan mineral block. Namun, prosedur dan manajemen pakan belum sesuai dengan kebutuhan ternak, berdasarkan fase pertumbuhan dan produktifitas ternak. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa proses pemeliharaan di UPTD X terutama pada manajemen pemberian pakan kambing PE yang dilakukan belum cukup baik dan belum memenuhi kriteria pemberian pakan yang mengutamakan kuantitas dan kualitas yang dapat meningkatkan produksi, pertumbuhan juga mensejahterakan ternak.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengevaluasi kualitas fisik snack bar pakan ternak dengan lama penyimpanan yang berbeda. Penelitian menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) terdiri lima perlakuan dan empat ulangan. Adapun perlakuan yaitu lama penyimpanan snack bar 0, 2, 4, 6 dan 8 minggu. Variabel yang diamati yaitu kerapatan partikel, daya serap air, dan organoleptik snack bar yang meliputi aroma, tekstur, warna, dan keberadaan jamur. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan pakan snack bar dengan lama penyimpanan yang berbeda berpengaruh nyata (P<0,05) terhadap variabel daya serap air, warna, dan aroma snack bar dan tidak berpengaruh nyata (P>0,05) terhadap variabel kerapatan partikel, tekstur, dan keberadaan jamur snack bar. Lama penyimpanan sampai 4 minggu memiliki kerapatan partikel yang lebih tinggi, warna coklat, tekstur yang padat dan tidak menunjukkan adanya keberadaan jamur dan lama penyimpanan 2 minggu memiliki daya serap air yang terendah dan aroma khas harum limbah tanam jagung. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian pakan Snack bar dengan lama penyimpanan hingga 4 minggu menunjukkan kualitas fisik yang terbaik meliputi kerapatan partikel, daya serap air, tekstur, warna, aroma, dan keberadaan jamur.

Abstract

The Farmers in Tinambung Village, Pamboang Subdistrict, Majene Regency mostly raise goats as a side job to support their income. Cocoa shells, which are cocoa plantation waste, have not been utilized so far, only as waste that pollutes the environment. The farmer-livestock group “Siparare” is a partner in community service activities totaling 35 people. This activity aims to provide education on the utilization of cocoa shells as animal feed and skills in making feed in the form of pellets. The methods used in this activity are survey, counseling, training, and monitoring and evaluation. Measurement of farmers' knowledge was done through pre-test and post-test. The results show that the knowledge and skills of farmers have increased significantly from 6.43% to 76.29% in processing cocoa shell waste into feed pellets as an alternative to fulfill quality feed needs, especially during the dry season. Pellets as an alternative in fulfilling the need for quality feed, especially during the dry season. Based on the results of observations during the activity, the results of questions and answers and the enthusiasm of the participants, it can be seen that new partners are aware of the existence of innovative feed processing technology and the importance of the role of feed as a source of nutrition for livestock, willingness to apply pellet feed processing technology, and enthusiasm in adopting the material provided, so overall this activity can be said to be quite successful. Farmers have been able to make feed pellets from cocoa shells independently as a solution in providing quality feed as well as a product with economic value so as to increase farmers' income, and can utilize and reduce waste that can pollute the environment.

Abstract

The use of coconut pulp as animal feed is still limited due to the high content of crude fat and crude fiber, which are difficult to digest by livestock and low palatability, so feed processing technology is needed, one of which is through the fermentation process with the addition of microorganisms from rumen fluid. This study aimed  to determine the nutritional quality of coconut (Cocos nucifera l.) pulp with different fermentation lengths using Bali cow rumen fluid.  The study used a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of 3 treatments and 4 replicates. The treatments used in this study were AA = 0-day coconut pulp (control), AB = 5-day fermented coconut pulp, and A2 = 7-day fermented coconut pulp. The variables observed were dry matter (DM), crude protein (CP), crude fiber (CF), and crude fat (FF). The results showed a significant effect (P<0.05) on the mean values of BK AA (94.669±0.33) AB (91.89±0.23) and AC (90.46±0.44), PK AA (5.33±0.41), AB (6.00±0.14) and AC (6.59±0. 15), SK AA (16.99±0.31), AB (10.16±0.21), and AC (9.24±0.24) and showed no significant effect (P>0.05) on the mean value of LK AA (44.55±0.50), AB (44.52±0.3), and AC (43.29±0.58). Based on the results of the study, it was concluded that 7-day fermentation decreased BK, LK, and SK and increased PK of coconut pulp.  The best fermentation time of coconut pulp with Bali cow rumen fluid is on day 7.

Abstract

This trial was therefore undertaken to investigate the effect of durian (dario zibethinus) seed extract supplementation on the growth performance, carcass yield and internal organ development in broilers under heat temperature. 5 treatment groups, including control group (P0) with no extract addition and 4 treatments (P1- P4), where the levels of durian seed extracts used were added into-drinking water at dose concentrations of Nil, 1.0 mL/L, 1.5 mL/L, 2.0 mL/L and 2.5ml/L respectively. Weight gain, feed conversion efficiency, weights of slaughter body parts (and as their relative proportion: liver, heart, proventriculus and gizzard) and internal organs (total intestines) were evaluated. The durian seed meal extract also significantly enhanced (P < 0.05) the body and carcass weights and growth of digestive and metabolic organs. Values were higher in P4 indicating a dose relation. The beneficial health effects are attributed to the bio-active compounds (polyphenols, flavonoinds and phenolic acid) as natural anti oxidants and phyto-biotics which avoid the oxidative stress and stimulate to absorb the nutrient. It is thus justified to conclude that durian seed extract at 2.5 ml/L could be applied as natural growth promoter combined with antioxidative activity in broiler raised under the tropical heat stress source.

Abstract

The need for food rich in protein sources from livestock continues to increase from time to time, therefore it is very important for the government to pay attention to the availability of livestock through various programs, one of the programs chosen is the People's Livestock Center (SPR) program. The aim of this research is to determine the various factors that influence breeders who participate in the SPR program. The research method used is descriptive quantitative. The research population came from 3 villages in Tonra District, Bone Regency with a total population of 338 people. From the research results, data was obtained that there were at least 12 reasons for breeders participating in the SPR program with the most dominant factor being the desire to increase knowledge about animal feed processing at 28.2%.

Abstract

Ketersediaan pakan ternak yang berkelanjutan merupakan salah satu tantangan utama dalam pengembangan peternakan rakyat, khususnya di Desa Adolang yang mayoritas masyarakatnya berprofesi sebagai petani dan peternak. Pada musim kemarau, peternak sering mengalami kesulitan memperoleh pakan hijauan sehingga berdampak pada penurunan produktivitas ternak. Desa Adolang memiliki potensi limbah pertanian berupa batang pisang yang melimpah, namun belum dimanfaatkan secara optimal sebagai sumber pakan alternatif. Berdasarkan kondisi tersebut, kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan peternak melalui penerapan Integrated Farming System dengan pemanfaatan batang pisang sebagai bahan baku utama pembuatan silase, sehingga mampu mendukung ketahanan pangan lokal. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan meliputi persiapan, penyuluhan, pelatihan, pendampingan, evaluasi, dan monitoring. Penyuluhan dilaksanakan untuk memberikan pemahaman mengenai manfaat pakan silase. Pelatihan dilakukan dengan pendekatan learning by doing melalui praktik langsung pembuatan silase batang pisang yang dicampur dengan dedak padi dan molases. Selanjutnya, pendampingan dilakukan melalui kunjungan lapangan guna memantau hasil fermentasi dan memberikan Solusi terkait kendala teknis. Evaluasi dilakukan untuk menilai peningkatan pengetahuan, keterampilan, serta kualitas silase yang dihasilkan, sedangkan monitoring dilakukan untuk menjamin keberlanjutan kegiatan. Kegiatan ini memberikan dampak positif terhadap peningkatan kapasitas peternak pengetahuan dan keterampilan sebesar 90.43%. Peserta mampu memahami konsep dasar silase, terampil melakukan proses pembuatan, dan menghasilkan produk silase. Selain itu, peternak menjadi lebih mandiri dalam memanfaatkan limbah batang pisang sebagai cadangan pakan. Program pengabdian masyarakat berbasis Integrated Farming System melalui pembuatan silase batang pisang terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan keterampilan peternak, menyediakan pakan alternatif yang berkelanjutan, serta mendukung peningkatan produktivitas ternak kambing di Desa Adolang.
