Abstract

Pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memberikan informasi yang komprehensif mengenai diabetes melitus, termasuk gejala, faktor risiko, dampaknya terhadap kesehatan, serta upaya pencegahan dan pengendalian. Sasaran program pengabdian ini adalah 15 perempuan warga Desa Lemah Kembar Kecamatan Sumberasih Kabupaten Probolinggo yang sudah menderita diabetes melitus. dan kelompok berisiko terkena diabetes melitus dari berbagai golongan usia. Metode yang diterapkan dalam program pengabdian ini adalah Participatory Action Research (PAR) meliputi tahap persiapan, tahap pelaksanaan dan tahap evaluasi. Hasil kegiatan pengabdian ini memperlihatkan bahwa sasaran kegiatan pengabdian antusia sdan memberikan respon yang baik. Hasil evaluasi berdasarkan wawancara, kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pengetahuan yang signifikan mengenai diabetes melitus.

Abstract

This community service initiative (PkM) addressed the critical need for English communication skills among students at Pesantren Mahasiswa Darushohabah in Jakarta. Recognizing English proficiency as an essential global competency, the program targeted persistent challenges in oral communication faced by pesantren students (Santri) due to limited practice opportunities and confidence issues. The "English for Communication" seminar employed Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) methods, combining motivational lectures with practical speaking exercises including role-plays, simulations, and interactive discussions. Fifteen participants engaged in 2 hours of intensive training focusing on daily communication scenarios, strategies for improving speaking skills, and confidence-building techniques. Pre-activity observations revealed students' initial reluctance and anxiety about speaking English, particularly in formal settings. However, post-activity evaluations demonstrated significant improvement in participation levels, with 80% of attendees actively engaging in conversation exercises by the session's conclusion. Qualitative feedback highlighted increased motivation and reduced speaking anxiety among participants, who particularly valued the non-judgmental learning environment. The program successfully achieved its dual objectives of enhancing practical communication skills and fostering self-efficacy, as evidenced by participants' requests for ongoing English clubs and additional learning materials. This intervention demonstrates the effectiveness of CLT approaches in religious educational contexts and underscores the importance of creating supportive environments for language practice. Recommendations include establishing regular speaking sessions and developing contextual learning resources to sustain the program's impact.

Abstract

Kebutuhan akan data digital menjadi sangat krusial dalam era informasi saat ini. Data digital menawarkan banyak kelebihan dibandingkan dengan data fisik, salah satunya adalah kemampuan untuk digunakan secara terus menerus tanpa mengalami kerusakan atau penurunan kualitas. Ini membuat data digital sangat berharga bagi berbagai sektor, mulai dari bisnis hingga pendidikan. Namun, meskipun memiliki banyak kelebihan, penerapan data digital juga dihadapkan pada berbagai tantangan. Salah satunya adalah keterbatasan umur perangkat penyimpanan yang digunakan untuk membaca dan menulis data. Perangkat seperti hard drive dan SSD memiliki masa pakai yang terbatas, yang dapat mengakibatkan hilangnya data jika tidak dikelola dengan baik. Selain itu, risiko kehilangan media penyimpanan fisik, seperti flash disk, juga dapat menjadi hambatan serius dalam pekerjaan, terutama jika data penting tersimpan di dalamnya. Sebagai solusi atas berbagai tantangan tersebut, cloud storage muncul sebagai alternatif media penyimpanan yang lebih fleksibel dan aman. Cloud storage memanfaatkan teknologi cloud computing dan jaringan internet untuk memungkinkan akses data dari mana saja dan kapan saja. Dengan demikian, pengguna tidak lagi terbatas pada perangkat fisik tertentu untuk mengakses data mereka. Selain kemudahan akses, cloud storage juga menawarkan berbagai fitur tambahan seperti kemampuan untuk mengunggah, mengunduh, menulis, dan mengedit dokumen secara real time, baik dalam bentuk word processor, spreadsheet, maupun presentasi. Hal ini memungkinkan kolaborasi yang lebih mudah dan efisien di antara pengguna, yang pada akhirnya dapat meningkatkan produktivitas dan efektivitas pekerjaan. Dengan demikian, cloud storage bukan hanya sekadar media penyimpanan, tetapi juga sebuah platform yang dapat mengoptimalkan cara kerja dalam berbagai situasi dan lingkungan.

Abstract

This study reports a community service program (Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat/PkM) aimed at exploring and strengthening santri’s perceptions and aspirations toward English mastery in an Islamic boarding school context. In the era of globalization, English proficiency is increasingly essential not only for academic and professional advancement but also for enabling santri to engage in global communication and represent Islamic values internationally. This program was conducted at Pondok Pesantren Salafiyah Syafiiyah Sukorejo and involved 100 santri as participants. A mixed-method approach was employed, combining a structured questionnaire and semi-structured interviews to obtain quantitative and qualitative data. The questionnaire measured santri’s attitudes toward English, motivation and passion for learning English, as well as perceived benefits and barriers, while interviews explored their experiences, challenges, and future aspirations. Quantitative data were analyzed descriptively using mean scores, standard deviations, and reliability coefficients, whereas qualitative data were analyzed thematically. The findings indicate that santri demonstrated highly positive attitudes and strong motivation toward English learning, particularly driven by aspirations for global engagement and the dissemination of Islamic values. However, moderate levels of confidence and limited practice opportunities were identified as key challenges. Overall, the program highlights the importance of communicative, supportive, and context-sensitive English learning initiatives in pesantren environments. The study recommends sustained English programs, increased speaking practice, and institutional support to enhance santri’s English proficiency in a sustainable manner.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the political satire represented in a short animation on the YouTube channel @GlobalPresidents001, uploaded on September 10, 2025, with a duration of approximately five seconds. The analysis was conducted using Roland Barthes' semiotics, which covers three levels of meaning, namely denotation, connotation, and myth. Data was obtained through observation of visual elements, character expressions, symbols, and visual flow in the animation. Data analysis followed Miles and Huberman's interactive model, which consists of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study were then linked to a number of previous studies and current phenomena developing in the media related to political relations between the United States and Burkina Faso. Validation was carried out through expert triangulation, peer discussion, and increased analytical rigor to ensure the reliability of the interpretation. The findings show that the animation presents a critique of the manipulative dynamics of political relations. The United States is depicted in a lower physical position to show a strategy of humbling itself for certain political interests. The actions of the American character, who takes Burkina Faso's money pump and then runs away, represent economic exploitation, power imbalance, and irresponsibility in the political cooperation process.

Abstract

Character education in contemporary educational discourse extends beyond cognitive attainment to include value orientation, moral attitudes, and spiritual awareness. Within this context, symbolic media such as songs play an important role in engaging affective and cultural dimensions. This study examines the representation of religious values as character education messages in the song “Senandung Ma’had Sunan Ampel al-‘Ali,” a symbolic element of Ma’had al-Jāmi‘ah at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang. This study employs a qualitative text-centered design using qualitative content analysis integrated with thematic analysis. The analysis is guided by character education theory and Islamic ethical perspectives. The data consist of the complete song lyrics, analyzed through coding, categorization, and interpretive meaning construction. Analytical rigor was ensured through theoretical triangulation, peer debriefing, and iterative coding verification. The findings identify five core values: devotion-oriented religiosity, appreciation of knowledge as a spiritual value, sincerity and dedication, moral struggle (jihad) as an ethical ethos, and social morality reflected in the concept of ulul albab. These values are constructed through symbolic and affective language, positioning the song as a medium for implicit value internalization. The study indicates that institutional song lyrics function as symbolic discourse through which religious values are organized and communicated, highlighting the role of affective-cultural media in character education.

Abstract

This study aims to examine Al Jazeera Arabic’s coverage of the 2025 floods in Sumatra, as presented on its YouTube channel, and to analyze the discourse representation through the lens of Teun A. van Dijk’s Critical Discourse Analysis. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach, focusing on the live broadcasts reported by Sohaib Jazeem from the affected areas in Aceh. Data were collected through listening, note-taking, and translation, and subsequently analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model. The results indicate that the coverage emphasizes issues of environmental crisis, the impact of the disaster, and the conditions of the victims. At the macro level, the main theme relates to the environmental crisis, while at the superstructure level, comparisons are drawn with the 2004 tsunami to build audience understanding and provide an introductory overview of the natural destruction, which nearly matched the scale of the tsunami event. At the micro-structural level, the emphasis on victim data and aid distribution reveals a specific focus on three aspects: 1) the nature of the environmental damage, 2) the lack of accountability among authorities, and 3) the government’s inadequate response to flood victims. In addition to these three aspects of the text structure, this study is also informed by social cognition or social class position and social context—specifically, the prevailing knowledge or values within society—which also influence the analytical perspective. This study demonstrates that media coverage helps shape the public’s perspective on disaster events.

Abstract

This study examines the increasing institutional use of Arabic in Indonesian Islamic higher education and its role beyond administrative regulation. Although Arabic is commonly regarded as a marker of religious authority, its function in shaping students’ identities within institutional contexts has received limited scholarly attention. This study aims to analyze how Arabic language practices at Ma’had Al-Jami‘ah, Universitas Islam Negeri Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, contribute to the construction of students’ religious–academic identities. Using a descriptive qualitative approach with interpretative analysis within the framework of identity linguistics, this study investigates institutional discourse, everyday linguistic interactions, and symbolic terminology employed in the ma’had environment. Data were collected through non-participatory observation, documentation, and field notes, and analyzed by identifying identity-related linguistic patterns in official announcements, instructional discourse, and daily communication. The findings indicate that institutionalized Arabic terms such as murabbi, ta‘lim, and halaqah function not only as administrative labels but also as linguistic markers that shape normative roles and value orientations within the ma’had structure. At the same time, differences between institutional discourse and students’ interpretations suggest that identity formation occurs through continuous negotiation rather than one-directional institutional control. Thus, Arabic operates both as a medium for transmitting institutional values and as a space in which religious–academic identity is dynamically constructed.
