Abstract

Pengabdian kepada masyarakat merupakan proses implementasi keilmuan yang dipelajari di perguruan tinggi guna memberikan manfaat seluas-luasnya bagi masyarakat. Tujuan dari kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah untuk mengimplementasikan ilmu pengetahuan yang telah diperoleh selama perkuliahan kepada masyarakat, membangun ikatan silaturahmi antara dosen dan mahasiswa di lingkup program studi  dan fakultas, serta secara umum di lingkungan Universitas Serambi Mekkah dengan masyarakat Gampong Luthu Dayah Krueng. Kegiatan Pengabdian dilaksanakan di Gampong Luthu Dayah Krueng Kecamatan Sukamakmur Kabupaten Aceh Besar pada tanggal 20 Maret 2023  secara kolaboratif dengan melibatkan Dosen dan Mahasiswa selingkupan FKIP Universitas Serambi Mekkah. Rangkaian kegiatan pengabdian terdiri atas penyampaian pentingnya literasi bagi masyarakat, penyerahan bingkisan berupa kain sarun, Alquran dan cat untuk pagar meunasah, serangkaian perlombaan dan pengecatan areal meunasah. Kegiatan pengabdian dilaksanakan dengan lancar, yang ditandai dengan partisipasi aktif dari semua pihak yang terlibat yaitu pihak kampus Universitas Serambi Mekkah Kota Banda Aceh  dan masyarakat Gampong Luthu Dayah Krueng. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini diharapkan dapat dilaksanakan secara berkala dan berkelanjutan, sehingga dapat memberikan berbagai macam manfaat dan menumbuhkan rasa persaudaraan.

Abstract

Literasi merupakan keterampilan penting yang harus dimiliki oleh setiap siswa. Kemampuan literasi meliputi seluruh keterampilan berbahasa yaitu menyimak, berbicara, membaca, dan menulis. Dalam pembelajaran, kemampuan ini merupakan langkah awal yang sangat penting dalam keberhasilan proses pembelajaran yang produktif dikarenakan dengan kemampuan literasi yang baik siswa memiliki daya serap yang baik terhadap informasi yang diperolehnya sehingga dapat menghasilkan gagasan dan karya. Kegiatan Pengabdian Masyarakat ini telah dilaksanakan pada tanggal 11 November 2021 di MAN 2 Aceh Besar melibatkan guru dan siswa MAN 2 Aceh Besar, mahasiswa serta Dosen Prodi Pendidikan Matematika, Dosen dan staff Universitas Serambi Mekkah dan Delegasi HMJ selingkupan FKIP Universitas Serambi Mekkah. Metode pelaksanaan pengabdian ini dilaksanakan secara langsung/ kunjungan lapangan ke sekolah yang meliputi workshop penulisan karya ilmiah, Mahasiswa Mengajar dan penanaman pohon bersama dosen dan mahasiswa. Kegiatan pengabdian terlaksana dengan lancar, tertib dan sukses dibuktikan dengan animo peserta yang berhadir tidak hanya dari Prodi Pendidikan Matematika juga dari Prodi yang lain selingkupan institusi Universitas Serambi Mekkah, juga sambutan yang sangat meriah dan antusias dari siswa dan guru-guru MAN 2 Aceh Besar yang sangat fokus dan berperan aktif dalam pelaksanaan pengabdian ini.

Abstract

The use of agricultural waste as an alternative energy source represents a strategic solution to address energy crises and environmental challenges. Corn cobs (Zea mays L.), often regarded as low-value agricultural residues, possess significant potential as a bioethanol feedstock due to their high lignocellulosic content. This study aims to analyze the potential of corn cobs as a raw material for environmentally friendly bioethanol production through hydrolysis and fermentation processes. The research employed an experimental approach consisting of material pretreatment, lignocellulosic hydrolysis to convert cellulose and hemicellulose into fermentable sugars, and fermentation using Saccharomyces cerevisiae as the bioethanol-producing microorganism. Bioethanol yield and production efficiency were evaluated to determine feasibility and performance. The findings indicate that corn cobs can produce bioethanol in competitive yields compared with other lignocellulosic feedstocks. The hydrolysis process effectively increased reducing sugar content, supporting optimal fermentation performance. In addition to technical feasibility, the utilization of corn cobs offers ecological advantages, including the reduction of agricultural waste accumulation and lower carbon emissions. Since corn cobs do not compete with food resources, their use aligns with renewable energy development strategies and circular economy principles. Corn cobs demonstrate strong potential as a sustainable and environmentally friendly bioethanol feedstock. Optimizing production efficiency at an industrial scale and strengthening policy support are recommended to enhance the development and commercialization of agricultural waste-based bioenergy.

Abstract

Project-Based Learning (PjBL) is an active and innovative learning model that can improve students' understanding of complex concepts in biology. This study aims to analyze the application of the PjBL model in biodiversity material and its impact on the knowledge of 10th grade high school students. The research method used a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group design. The research sample consisted of 55 students divided into two groups: an experimental group (28 students) using the PjBL model and a control group (27 students) using a conventional learning model. The results showed a significant difference between the learning outcomes of the experimental and control groups (p < 0.05). The average posttest score of the experimental group (85.2) was higher than that of the control group (74.6). The PjBL model proved to be effective in fostering students' knowledge of biodiversity through authentic and contextual learning experiences.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to test the effectiveness of integrated science teaching materials for junior high schools, especially the theme of household health and environmental sanitation. The research design uses a quasi-experiment with Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. The research was carried out at SMPN 6 Banda Aceh class VII. The sample was determined by purposive sampling. The treatment in the experimental group was learning that used integrated science teaching materials, while the control group used electronic school books. The instruments used are test items, learning observation sheets, and learning tools. Data analysis was carried out using Anava to test mean differences and Scheffe test to test the effectiveness of integrated science teaching materials. The results of the research show that there are differences in high-level thinking abilities between junior high school students who use integrated science teaching materials and students who use separate/individual science teaching models in the field of biological studies. Students can remember 13%, understand 15%, application 18%, analysis 30% and evaluation 25% for thinking achievement. Teaching using integrated science teaching materials is very effective in improving the high-level thinking abilities of students at SMP Negeri 6 Banda Aceh.
