Abstract

The increase number of vehicles is not the main factor causing congestion. There are other factors, such as the movement of pedestrians crossing the road using a zebra cross. This study aims to determine the effect of pedestrians crossing on vehicle queue lengths using shock wave analysis, and evaluate whether zebra cross facilities are still suitable for use or not at research site. This research was conducted for 4 days on Sam Ratulangi street in front of Multimart Ranotana Manado City. Data analysis uses traffic characteristics correlation of volume, speed and density. The characteristic correlation that will be used for the shock wave analysis calculation is based on the highest coefficient of determination (R2). The results of the study, based on shock wave analysis showed that pedestrians crossing could make a vehicle queue length of 33.5 meters for the left lane and 74.6 meters for the right lane. Based on the average number of pedestrians crossing the volume of vehicles and the number of conflicts that occur (PV2), it is recommended that the type of crossing facility is pelican with a protector. The greater duration of pedestrians crossing (r) then the maximum queue length of vehicles (Qm) will be greater.

Abstract

Cause traffic accidents include human factors, vehicle factors, road factors and the environment. This study aims to analyze the effect of age, income level, and road geometry on the potential for traffic accidents. The research location is in the Talaud Archipelago Regency, North Sulawesi Province. This research uses a quantitative approach by collecting data using a questionnaire distributed to 200 respondents who use two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles. The Likert scale measurement method analysis uses the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) on the Amos 22.00 program The results showed that age does not directly have a significant effect on the potential for accidents of 0.917 but indirectly age has a significant effect on the potential for accidents through the condition of the vehicle with a statistical value of 3.779, the level of income directly has a significant effect on the potential for accidents with a probability value <0.001 and indirectly has a significant effect through vehicle condition Z statistics value of 2.925, road geometry does not directly influence the potential for accidents with a probability value of 0.184, driving behavior does not directly influence the potential for accidents 0.820 and vehicle conditions directly have a significant effect on potential accidents probability value <0.001.

Abstract

The Zero Point intersection is the zero point of Manado City which is also the transfer point for public transportation passengers. The land use around this location is offices, pharmacies, shops, places of worship, hotels and there are also street vendors. This research is to analyze the characteristics of Zero Point intersections using the 2014 Indonesian Road Capacity Calculation (PKJI) method and the PTV Vissim application simulation to obtain alternative solutions. The results of the analysis are that the highest traffic volume (Q) occurred on Monday at 6493.4 cur/hour, vehicle capacity (C) was 2900 cur/hour, the degree of saturation (DJ) was 1,329, the intersection delay value (T) was 376,6 seconds/currency and the Level of Service (LOS) of the unsignaled intersection is at level D which indicates poor intersection performance. The results of this analysis then looked for alternative solutions by trial and error and the chosen alternative was to improve the performance of unsignalized intersections, namely the first was to change the vehicle's turning direction from the direction of Jl. Sudirman (next to Bank Sulut) which will turn towards Jl. Sam Ratulangi has to go around the Zero Point roundabout and the second alternative is to make changes, namely making a median or road divider on the Jl. Sudirman (next to Bank Sulut).
