Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of implementing the Kokapal game (Palembang Vocabulary Cards) in increasing students’ learning interest in the Baso Palembang subject in Class VI B at SDN 021 Palembang. Students’ learning interest is a crucial aspect of the learning process, especially in local language education, which is often perceived as less engaging by students. Using a quasi-experimental approach, this research involves Class VI B students as research subjects, comparing their level of learning interest before and after the application of the Kokapal game. Data were collected through observations, learning interest questionnaires, and interviews with students and teachers to obtain a comprehensive understanding of students’ perceptions of the applied learning method. The results of the study indicate that the use of the Kokapal game significantly increases students’ learning interest, marked by enhanced active participation and enthusiasm in the learning process. The implications of this study suggest that game-based learning methods can be an effective alternative to increase students’ interest in Baso Palembang and have the potential to be applied to other subjects as well.

Data were collected through questionnaires, observations, and documentation. Data analysis includes tests for validity, reliability, normality, multicollinearity, and heteroscedasticity, followed by multiple linear regression, t-test, F-test, and coefficient of determination (R²). The results showed that 1) the principal’s leadership style has a positive and significant influence on teacher professionalism, 2) academic supervision has a positive and significant influence on teacher professionalism, and 3) both variables simultaneously have a significant influence on teacher professionalism. Abstract

Governance of the Department of Sports and Coaching in the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education includes aspects of planning, implementation, evaluation, and follow-up in both academic and non-academic management. This study employed a qualitative approach with data collection techniques including interviews, observations, and document analysis. The research subjects involved department leaders, lecturers, and administrative staff. The findings reveal that the department's governance has been implemented fairly well, although some weaknesses were identified in the monitoring system and coordination among implementing units. In addition, the follow-up actions from evaluation results have not been optimal in improving the quality of academic services. Therefore, a strategy to strengthen performance-based management and a more integrated reporting system is needed.

Abstract

General Background: Early childhood education is a critical foundation for character development and readiness for formal schooling. Specific Background: One essential competence to be cultivated is independence, which reflects children’s confidence and responsibility in daily tasks. Knowledge Gap: Although prior studies have examined independence in young learners, limited attention has been given to how teachers systematically foster independence through structured daily practices in specific PAUD institutions. Aim: This study aimed to describe the role of teachers in fostering independence among children aged 5–6 years at PAUD Teratai Putih Muaro Jambi. Results: Findings revealed that 75% of children were able to eat independently, 65% could tidy up toys, and 85% could wear shoes without assistance. Teachers acted as facilitators, motivators, and guides by applying consistent routines, gradual guidance, and positive reinforcement. Novelty: The study highlights how practical strategies in everyday routines can effectively stimulate independence, with contextual insights from a local PAUD setting. Implications: These findings emphasize the importance of teacher creativity and collaboration with parents in developing children’s autonomy, providing a useful reference for early childhood educators and policymakers. Highlights: Teachers foster independence through daily structured routines Parental support and learning environment strengthen outcomes Independence emerges through guided practice and motivation Keywords: Teacher Role, Early Childhood, Independence, Autonomy, PAUD

Abstract

General Background: Fine motor development is a crucial foundation for early childhood learning readiness, particularly for writing, drawing, and self-care activities. Specific Background: Children aged 5–6 years require appropriate stimulation to strengthen finger muscles and hand-eye coordination, yet structured motor skill programs remain limited in many kindergartens. Knowledge Gap: Although playdough has been widely used in informal learning, little research has documented its systematic application in formal early childhood education. Aims: This study investigates how structured playdough activities contribute to improving fine motor skills in children aged 5–6 years at TK Pembina Muara Sabak Barat. Results: Findings revealed significant improvements, with 80% of children demonstrating enhanced abilities in rolling, cutting, pinching, and shaping objects after four weeks of intervention. Novelty: The study highlights playdough as a low-cost, engaging, and versatile medium that integrates physical skill development with creativity and thematic learning. Implications: The results underscore the importance of incorporating sensory-based play regularly in early childhood classrooms, offering practical guidance for teachers and parents to support holistic child development. Highlights: Playdough strengthens hand-eye coordination in early childhood Structured activities improve finger dexterity and creativity Effective low-cost medium for motor and learning development Keywords: Playdough, Fine Motor Skills, Early Childhood, Sensory Play, Kindergarten
