Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic, which lasted for more than 2 years, had a tremendous impact in Indonesia. One of its impacts on the education sector that is still affecting the post-pandemic period is learning loss. Learning loss is a phenomenon where students lose their knowledge and skills due to certain conditions. Learning loss also affects students’ psychology. In speaking learning, anxiety is one of the students' obstacles to speaking fluently. This study aimed to investigate the strategies employed by students to mitigate speaking anxiety in the post-pandemic era. The case study design was used to do an in-depth investigation of complex problems regarding students' speaking anxiety in a school. The study involved six students in grade seven at a junior high school in West Java, Indonesia, as participants. The participants selected were those representing different speaking abilities based on their speaking test results. The data was collected through semi-structured interviews. The findings show that students employ several strategies to mitigate their speaking anxiety, including preparation, relaxation, positive thinking, and peer-seeking. In other words, those strategies reflect students’ resilience to deal with learning loss in the post-pandemic era.  This study is intended to serve as a valuable resource for educators and EFL learners by providing strategies to alleviate speaking anxiety effectively.

Abstract

The development of information and communication technology in the 21st century spurs the need for digital learning systems to improve the quality of education. This research aims to develop a Learning Management System (LMS) Moodle with additional features that support mathematics learning at the high school level. The research method used in this research is the research and development (R&D) method, with the model used being the Four-D Model or adapted into a 4-D model. Based on the research results, the features developed include typing mathematical formulas using MathType by Wiris, graph visualization, and GeoGebra-based simulations. The results of the trial show that this additional feature increases the effectiveness of mathematics learning and the efficiency of students' learning time. Developing an LMS with interactive features supports a more dynamic and meaningful learning process.

Abstract

This study examines teachers' strategies as the learning process transitions from face-to-face to online learning. In other words, the researcher is attempting to investigate strategies for piquing students' interest in English learning at home. The qualitative research methodology was utilized for this investigation. The researcher used three methods to conduct this study: observation, interviewing participants, and keeping detailed records. Methods of qualitative data analysis were applied in this particular research project. The subject of this research is the seventh-grade teacher and students at SMPN 1 Sumber Cirebon. This data revealed that using appropriate learning media not only facilitates the delivery of material but also increases effectiveness in achieving learning goals, which can increase interest and motivation to learn. As a result, the accuracy of selecting learning media is determined not by price but rather by the level of efficiency and effectiveness in achieving goals. Students' individual interests had the greatest influence on their career goals, and thus course selections in a well-prepared online classroom would result in successful learning and teaching. This study highlights opportunities for educators, technology developers, curriculum designers, administrators, policymakers, researchers, and academics to enhance online learning experiences, student engagement, and teaching practices.

Abstract

Purpose: The research aims to develop a learning management system (LMS) for multi-platform use as a mathematics learning medium. Methodology: The methodology employed follows a development model consisting of definition, design, and development stages. During the design phase, an analysis of teachers' and students' needs in mathematics learning using LMS, particularly focusing on materials and functions, is conducted. Additionally, a needs analysis for LMS is performed at this stage. Subsequently, during the design phase, the LMS characteristics and features of the selected system are outlined. In the development stage, feasibility tests and field trials are conducted, incorporating feedback from experts, including program experts (programmers), language experts, and teacher practitioners. Findings: The findings indicate a feasibility level of 93.44%, as assessed by media, material, and language experts. Significance: This suggests its high suitability and effectiveness for implementation.
