Abstract

Secang (Caesalpinia sappan L.) merupakan tanaman yang banyak digunakan sebagai minuman kesehatan yang memiliki banyak khasiat, salah satunya sebagai antioksidan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membuat sediaan Orally Disintegrating Tablets (ODT) ekstrak secang sebagai antioksidan, yang memenuhi persyaratan sediaan farmasi. ODT diharapkan akan mengalami disintegrasi cepat dalam mulut. Dibuat tiga formula ODT dengan metode kempa langsung dengan variasi konsentrasi HPMC yaitu 3%, 4%, dan 5%. Evaluasi massa cetak meliputi susut pengeringan, laju alir dan sudut istirahat, kerapatan nyata, kerapatan mampat, dan kompresibilitas. Evaluasi hasil cetak meliputi keseragaman ukuran, keseragaman bobot, friabilitas, waktu hancur, dan kekerasan. Uji aktivitas antioksidan ODT menggunakan metode Diphenylpicylhydrazyl (DPPH). Uji efektifitas sediaan ditentukan dengan mengukur  aktivitas antioksidan dari sediaan ODT. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan formula sediaan ODT dapat memenuhi semua persyaratan sebagai suatu sediaan farmasi menurut Farmakope Indonesia IV. Hasil pengujian antioksidan terhadap ketiga formula ODT ekstrak secang tergolong dalam kategori antioksidan sangat kuat karena nilai IC50 kurang dari 50 ppm.

Abstract

GERD merupakan suatu gangguan yang ditandai dengan refluks isi lambung ke kerongkongan dan dapat menimbulkan gejala berupa heartburn, regursitasi, mual, nyeri ulu hati, odinofagia, serta disfagia. Pengobatan GERD yang biasa digunakan adalah obat golongan PPI dan H2RA. Namun, obat golongan ini masih memiliki bioavailabilitas, permeabilitas, dan kelarutan obat yang rendah, sehingga obat ini masih kurang efektif bagi sebagian besar penderita GERD. Untuk mengatasi permasalahan tersebut dilakukan pengembangan teknologi formulasi obat baru. Salah satunya adalah nanoformulasi. Nanoformulasi merupakan suatu teknologi untuk pengobatan, diagnosis, atau pencegahan suatu penyakit dimana ukuran partikel yang digunakan adalah sekitar 10 -1000 mm. Teknologi nanoformulasi dapat digunakan untuk pengobatan GERD dan telah terbukti dapat meningkatkan efektivitas obat.

Abstract

Abstrak :Nutraseutikal adalah suatu senyawa metabolit sekunder berasal dari tanaman, mikroba, dan hewan yang dapat dikonsumsi untuk meningkatkan kesehatan, mencegah penyakit, dan mengobati penyakit. Nutraseutikal sering kali ditemukan kelarutan dalam air, bioavailabilitas, absorbsi, dan efek farmakologinya rendah. Hal ini dikarenakan beberapa zat aktif mudah terdegradasi oleh sinar matahari dan larutan tertentu dengan pH asam atau basa. Permasalahan tersebut dapat diatasi dengan pembentukan nanopartikel. Nanopartikel adalah partikel berukuran kecil atau nanometer yang dapat meningkatkan efektivitas metabolit sekunder. Nanopartikel kitosan merupakan nanopartikel yang dapat digunakan untuk mengatasi permasalahan tersebut. Nanopartikel kitosan telah terbukti dapat meningkatkan kualitas nutraseutikal.Kata kunci: nanopartikel, kitosan, nutraseutikalAbstract:Nutraceuticals are secondary metabolits derived from plants, microbes and animals that can be consumed to improve health, prevent disease and treat disease. Nutraceuticals are often found to have low water solubility, bioavailability, absorbtion, and pharmacological effects. This is because some active substances are easily degraded by sunlight and certain solution with acidic or basic pH. These problem can be overcome by the formation of nanoparticles. Nanoparticles are small or nanometer-sized particles that can increase the effectiveness of secondary metabolites. Chitosan nanoparticles are nanoparticles that can be used to overcome this problem. Chitosan nanoparticles have been proven to improve nutraceutical quality.Keywords: nanoparticles, chitosan, nutraceuticals

Abstract

Between mid to late 2022, Indonesia recorded a decrease in daily Covid-19 cases and deaths. However, the total number of cases exceeding 3.69 million and deaths surpassing 109,000 indicate the need for more effective prevention strategies. The predominance of the young adult population (millennials) in Indonesia necessitates a socialization approach tailored to their lifestyle. This community service program aims to analyze the knowledge, attitudes, and actions of millennials regarding Covid-19 prevention and to provide education on the role of immunomodulators in preventing infection. The program began with a survey that revealed limitations in the socialization and knowledge of millennials regarding the use of natural ingredients as immunomodulators to combat Covid-19. This program was conducted virtually to prevent the formation of new transmission clusters. Information on the relationship between Covid-19 and immunomodulators was disseminated through social media platforms such as YouTube and podcasts in an easily understandable manner, including an explanation of the mechanisms of immunity. The implementation of this program was successful with the cooperative support of various stakeholders. The results showed an increase in millennials' understanding of immunomodulators and their role in preventing Covid-19 infection. Thus, this program is expected to reduce the risk of virus transmission in the future through effective strategic measures.Pada pertengahan hingga akhir tahun 2022, Indonesia mencatat penurunan angka kasus harian dan kematian akibat Covid-19. Namun, total kasus yang melebihi 3,69 juta dan kematian yang melampaui 109.000 jiwa menunjukkan perlunya strategi pencegahan yang lebih efektif. Dominasi penduduk usia muda (millennial) di Indonesia menuntut pendekatan sosialisasi yang sesuai dengan gaya hidup mereka. Program pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengetahuan, sikap, dan tindakan kaum millennial terkait pencegahan Covid-19, serta memberikan edukasi mengenai peran imunomodulator dalam mencegah infeksi. Program pengabdian diawali dengan survei yang menunjukkan adanya keterbatasan dalam sosialisasi dan pengetahuan kaum millennial mengenai penggunaan bahan alami sebagai imunomodulator untuk menangkal Covid-19. Program ini dilaksanakan secara virtual guna mencegah terbentuknya klaster penyebaran baru. Informasi mengenai keterkaitan Covid-19 dan imunomodulator disampaikan melalui platform media sosial seperti YouTube dan podcast dengan cara yang mudah dipahami, mencakup pemahaman tentang mekanisme kerja imunitas. Pelaksanaan program ini berhasil dengan dukungan kooperatif dari berbagai pemangku kepentingan. Hasilnya menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman kaum millennial mengenai imunomodulator dan perannya dalam pencegahan infeksi Covid-19. Dengan demikian, program ini diharapkan dapat mengurangi risiko penyebaran virus di masa depan melalui langkah-langkah strategis yang efektif.

Abstract

Cancer is a major cause of death globally. It is often detected at a late stage, whileconventional treatments are more effective during the early and middle stages.These traditional treatments also cause many side effects due to the lack oftargeted delivery. Nanotechnology, particularly mesoporous silica nanoparticles(MSNs), has been investigated for cancer treatment and diagnosis. Theranostics,which combine therapy and diagnostics, can provide simultaneous treatment anddetection, potentially lowering mortality rates. A literature review was conductedusing keywords such as mesoporous silica nanoparticles, cancer, diagnosis, andtherapy in online databases like PubMed. The results of this review were analyzedand compared with existing literature, aiming to provide a comprehensiveoverview of mesoporous silica nanoparticles as current cancer treatment anddiagnosis.Keywords: MSNs, cancer, theranostic, therapy, literature.

Abstract

The development of animal husbandry in Indonesia has seen positive progress through government initiatives to increase productivity and efficiency. The field of veterinary medicine plays a vital role in maintaining the health and productivity of livestock, which ultimately impacts the productivity and quality of animal products. However, areas still require improvement, particularly infrastructure, technology, and management. Pharmaceutical science, specifically veterinary pharmacy, focuses on treating animals using different drug delivery systems due to physiological differences. Significant modification in livestock drug delivery involves adjusting medication based on animal needs to improve health and reduce the risk of overmedication and antibiotic resistance. Advancements in technology and medical developments are continuously being reviewed and studied to improve veterinary medicine.

Abstract

The drug delivery system is an attractive field of study since it has several applications in veterinary and human medicine. In the realm of veterinary medicine, the discovery of new routes of administration or new delivery systems to regulate the release of medications is of great importance. Due to the high number of animals and the special issues related to the administration of drugs and their market potential is very large, it is necessary to modify the dosage form to produce an effective and practicable preparation. Cats are the most popular pet in the world, outnumbering dogs by a ratio of three to one. It is vital to understand the prevalent illness patterns and limits of traditional delivery systems to establish appropriate dosage forms for cats. We believe this publication will be of interest to veterinarians and pharmaceutical scientists working in the field.
