Abstract

Pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memberikan wawasan tentang menumbuhkembangkan potensi anak dengan pengenalan bahasa Inggris sejak dini dalam keluarga pada masyarakat melalui Pendampingan Pengenalan Bahasa Inggris yang menyenangkan (Fun Learning) Kepada Anak Usia Dini dengan Menggunakan Model Pembelajaran LTW (Listening, Thinking, Writing). Di Indonesia masih banyakyang belum mengusai bahasa Inggris dikarenakan kurangnya pendampingan pembelajaran yang mereka dapatkan atau baru mendapatkan pembelajaran bahasa asing ketika usia mereka sudah dewasa, sehingga daya tangkap otak kurang optimal. Sasaran pengabdian adalah masyarakat di RW 01 kampung Cunting Kel.Tanjung Uncang Kota Batam.Persiapan dilakukan dengan melakukan survei pendahuluan untuk melihat kondisi di lapangan mengenai masalah yang dihadapi masyarakat. Pelaksanaan dilakukan dengan memberikan layanan informasi menggunakan metodeyang menyenangkan menggunakan model Pembelajaran LTW (Listening, Thinking, Writing). Hasil kegiatanmenunjukkan bahwa: (1). Program pengabdian padamasyarakat dengan kegiatan pendampingan Pendampingan Pengenalan Bahasa Inggris yang menyenangkan (Fun Learning) Kepada Anak Usia Dini dengan Menggunakan Model Pembelajaran LTW (Listening, Thinking, Writing),  dapat dilaksanakan dan direspon dengan baik. (2). Pelaksanaan program pengabdian pada masyarakat ini sangat bermanfaat bagi masyarakat sehingga dapat diterapkan para orang tua dengan keterbatasan guna menumbuhkembangkan potensi anak dalam berbahasa Inggris sejak dini.

Abstract

In this research We will find the problem in learning process in the class especially in listening laboratory. The problems are the students do not know what is the meaning of what are they listening from the conversation or the teachers explanation. This research has purpose to students’ listening skill by using whispering game at second semester English Department UNRIKA academic Year 2016/2017. This research is quantitative research. The researcher used total sampling. The experimental class was taught byusing whispering game, whereas the control class was taught using lecturing method. In this research, the researcher gave 20 of questions in multiple choices form. The result of analysis can be concluded that there was significant effect. It was showed     (3,01 2,01) so  was rejected and  was accepted. The result of analysis can be concluded that the use of whispering game at Second semester UNRIKA in academic Year 2016/2017  gave significant effect in the students’ activity in learning process than the use of close procedure.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe objective of the study is to find out whether Describe and Draw Technique is Effective or not in improving student ability in writing at SMKS Al-Jabar Batam this study is limited on Writing for Eleventh grade student at SMKS Al-Jabar Batam in Academic year 2018/2019.The study designed used by the researcher is quasi experimental design (pre-test and post-test control group). The population of study is eleventh grade students of SMKS Al-Jabar Batam. They are four classes of eleventh grade student with the total number 71 students. The samples of the study are two classes which consist of 24 student in experiment class and 24 students in control class. The instrument in this study is writing test. The data analyzed in using t-test.  According to the result of statistical calculation. The result showed that sig (2 tailed) of student pre-test and post-test in experimental was 0.401 and standard significant level it was 0.05 by comparing the sig (2 tailed) and standard significant level, it was known that sig (s2 tailed0 was bigger than standard significant. The calculation of testing hypothesis used T-test formula with Null Hypothesis (Ho) and Alternative Hypothesis (Ha) it can be sum up that tcount (1.729) ≥ ttable (1.71714). Therefore, Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. The conclusion was Describe and Draw Technique gives significant effect in improving student ability in Writing. Keywords: Writing, improving, Describe and Draw Technique

Abstract

Abstract The aim of this research was carried out to find the influence of using sociodrama method in teaching speaking for ten grade of junior high school at SMKN 4 Batam whether there is significance different in speaking achievement of the students who are taught using a sociodrama and those who are taught without sociodrama. The subjects of the study were 76 students. The method used in this study was quasi experimental study with Non Equivalent Control Group design. The researcher divided two classes into an experimental class and a control class. Before the treatment, the researcher did a pre-test in both classes. Moreover, the researcher taught speaking by a sociodrama method in the experimental class. The last, the researcher conducted a post-test in both. After that, she calculated independent sample t-test to analyze the data. Value of the significant was 0.000 and significant level 5% was 0.05. As the result, the value of significant was lower than significant level. It can be concluded that the using of sociodrama method able to encourage the students to affective in teaching speaking and the hypothesis tested in this study was accepted.Keywords: Speaking skill, Sociodrama Method.

Abstract

Pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memberikan wawasan pengetahuan tentang meningkatkan ekonomi keluarga melalui UMKM. Dengan pengabdian masyarakat ini diharapkan ekonomi keluarga dapat meningkatkan melalui UMKM atau pemberdayaan UMKM agar semakin menarik. Sosialisasi ini dilakukan untuk memberikan pemahaman bagi warga RW.001 Kecamatan Batu Aji Kelurahan Bukit Tempayan dan pelaku UMKM terkait dengan berbagai peluang usaha UMKM dan ekonomi kreatif di masa krisis, masa krisis adalah masa berlangsungnya pandemic Covid-19. Warga RW.001 Kecamatan Batu Aji Kelurahan Bukit Tempayan diberikan motivasi untuk lebih mengedepankan inovasi dan orientasi global sesuai kebutuhan masyarakat. Sosialisasi ini juga memaparkan pentingnya marketing digital sebagai bentuk promosi penjualan ke masyarakat yang lebih luas. Persiapan dilakukan dengan melakukan survei pendahuluan untuk melihat kondisi di lapangan mengenai masalah yang dihadapi masyarakat. Pelaksanaan dilakukan dengan memberikan layanan informasi dengan menggunakan metode ceramah berupa sosialisasi yaitu dengan teknik presentase, dilanjutkan dengan diskusi dan tanya jawab. Hasil kegiatan sosialisasi menunjukkan bahwa: (1). Program pengabdian pada masyarakat dengan kegiatan sosialisasi tentang meningkatkan ekonomi  keluarga melalui peran UMKM di RW 01 Kelurahan BukitTempayan Kota Batam dapat terlaksanakan dan direspon dengan baik. (2). Pelaksanaan program pengabdian pada masyarakat ini sangat bermanfaat bagi masyarakat sehingga dapat diterapkan para warga dengan meningkatkan UMKM yang sudah ada seperti melakukan pemasaran secara online, memperbaiki kemasan agar lebih menarik.

Abstract

English is not included as a compulsory subject for Elementary School and young learners. However, most kindergartens and private primary schools in Batam, teach and use English intensively. It is different from the case of most state Kindergartens and in which teaching and learning English is very limited. This is also due to lack of knowledge and skills of teachers who teach in Kindergartens so teaching learning English for kindergarten students is difficult to apply. Based on the problem above, the lecturers team of English Department University of Riau Kepulauan provides English language training for teachers at Kindergartens Batam. The team collaborate with the Education Officer for PAUD and PNF Batam to choose and send delegation from each Kindergarten and Pos PAUD to participate in the training. After going through intensive training for 30 meetings, the trainees showed an improvement in English especially to deliver the teaching material for young learners which was integrated with some relevant and suitable teaching activities for young learners.

Abstract

Seluruh siswa di Indonesia mempelajari bahasa Inggris sebagai mata pelajaran di sekolah, dan pada jenjang sekolah dasar di buat sebagai muatan lokal. Mereka perlu belajar bahasa Inggris karena belajar bahasa Inggris penting untuk dipelajari sebagai persiapan untuk jenjang selanjutnya seperti SMP, SMA, dan Universitas. Dan ini juga bertujuan untuk mempersiapkan diri di era 4.0. Namun, banyak siswa di sekolah umum yang masih membutuhkan bantuan belajar. Mereka menghadapi banyak masalah termasuk kurangnya panduan akses informasi, materi pembelajaran, media, inovasi pembelajaran, sumber daya manusia, dan dukungan kelas. Oleh karena itu, bantuan bahasa Inggris diberikan dalam rangka membantu dan membimbing para siswa Sekolah Dasar di Sagulung, Indonesia sesuai dengan permasalahan mereka dalam proses pembelaran. Hal ini dilakukan dalam rangka berbagi dan meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan bahasa Inggris. Selain itu juga untuk mempersiapkan siswa menghadapi ujian akhir di sekolah. Dan membuat mereka mudah beradaptasi di pelajaran bahasa Inggris tingkat berikutnya di sekolah menengah pertama. Program ini dilakukan sebagai bimbingan belajar bahasa Inggris.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to find out the students’ perception toward Hello English application as media in learning vocabulary at SMP Kristen Immanuel Batam. This study utilized a qualitative descriptive method. The researcher used an instrument questionnaire and interview. The instrument questionnaire use three factors of influence perception are Perceiver, Target, and Situation. There are thirteen indicators in the instrument questionnaire namely: Attitude, Motive, Interest, Experience, Expectation, Novelty, Motion, Background, Proximity, Similarity, Time, Work Setting, and Social Setting. But interview instrument only use one factor of perception based on the individual concerned (perceiver) with five indicators: Attitude, Motive, Interest, Experience, and Expectation. In analyzing the data from a questionnaire, the researcher did some steps, they were scoring the students, classifying the score of the students using likert scale, the classification of the students’ scores, and the percentage formula of the students. Then data from the interview were used to clarify and strengthen the data from the questionnaire. The finding of this research showed that Hello English application has many benefit for students because Hello English application is not only to memorize vocabulary but also some students can learn about writing the text vocabulary, answering the question, speaking the text, and building sentences on Hello English application. Therefore it could be assumed that all students perceived positively toward Hello English application as media for learning vocabulary.

Abstract

AbstractThe problem discussed in this thesis is how the effect of the English learning method using an open-ended questions strategy to improve speaking skills in ninth grade students at the ADVENT Junior High School Lubuk Baja Batam. The purpose of this study was to determine whether there was an effect of the English learning method using an open-ended questions strategy in improving students’ speaking skill. The theories in this research are related to speaking skill and open-ended questions strategy.This research used quantitative research. Furthermore, this research used a pair of instruments to assess and collect data from both variables. To assess students’ critical thinking skill, researcher used a holistic scoring rubric critical thinking skills designed by Facione and Gittens, and to assess the speaking skill, the researcher used an Oral Proficieny scoring categories designed by Brown in his book Language Assessment - Principles and Classroom Practices. The researcher used the Independent Sample T-test formula to measure the two variables, with the calculation obtained the result of t=6.570 and matched it with significance level 0.05;n=40 which is 2.024. So, it can be concluded that there is a significant effect of the open-ended questions strategy in improving students’ speaking skill. According to the results of data accumulation, it can be concluded that the method of learning English using an open-ended questions strategy has a significant effect in improving students’ speaking skill.

Abstract

Abstract The objective of this research is to find out the kinds of moral values in Maleficent: "Mistress of Evil" movie. The researcher uses Hartmann's theory to analyze the kinds of moral values in the movie. The research design used in this research is descriptive qualitative research, the data sources are from the utterances and the scene of Maleficent: "Mistress of Evil" Movie and theory from books, e- books, journals. Data collection procedure uses document methods and data analysis procedure uses data reduction, data display and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the movie Maleficent: "Mistress of Evil", based on Hartmann theory found 9 kinds of moral values consisting of Justice, Courage, Self-Control, Brotherly Love, Truthfulness, Trustworthiness, Fidelity, Personality and Personal Love. and there are 21 data found in the movie regarding Kinds of moral values. And based on the data, can be determined that the most dominant moral value in the movie are Brotherly love and Fidelity.
