Abstract

The purpose of this study to develop valid and practical Cadets Worksheets based on Problem Centered Learning. This type of research was a Research and Development (R & D) research, which uses six research steps: potential problems, information gathering, product design, design validation, design improvement, and testing. The research instrument used was a questionnaire of validity and questionnaire of practicability. Analysis techniques used to test the validity and practicality of learning materials developed student worksheet was Likert-scale analysis techniques. Based on validation data analysis by validator obtained average percentage value of Cadets Worksheet was 83,6% (very valid). The result of Cadets Worksheet practice percentage by students' was 83.4% (very practical). Based on the above data analysis can be concluded that Worksheet Physics based PCL developed valid and practical.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the lack of attractive learning materials used by teachers, so that students have difficulties in understanding the lessons. One solution is to design learning materials in the form of Student Worksheets (LKPD) using a learning model that can improve the abilities and interests of students. The model used in the design of this LKPD is a model (Predict Observe Explain POE. The research carried out includes the type of Research and Development (R&D). The data collection instrument is an LKPD questionnaire based on the Predict Observe Explain model, a questionnaire to determine the practicality of the LKPD. LKPD based on the Predict Observe model Explain was tested at SMAN 2 Lubuk Alung Class X Semester 1. Based on the results of the LKPD validation analysis by the validator, a valid LKPD was obtained with an average score of 79.13% of the validity of the lecturer's questionnaire, and 80% of the validity of the teacher's questionnaire. POE-based LKPD which is very practical with an average score of 78.30% of the practicality of teachers, and 85.83% of practicality of students.

Abstract

COVID-19 pandemic has changed many things in human life, including education where the learning process is now required to be online. Online learning has various drawbacks, one of which is the difficulty of students and lecturers connecting within the specified lecture time. Therefore, flexible and easily accessible learning media is needed to increase student understanding. Contextual learning videos are the solution that can answer these problems because of their flexibility and ease of access. The practicality of learning videos was evaluated through student responses to aspects of Ease of Use, Time Effectiveness, Attractiveness, and Benefits. The average score for the Ease of Use aspect is 86.24%, for the Time Effectiveness aspect it is 85.94%; the Attractiveness aspect scored 82.81%, and the Benefit aspect scored 85.42%. This study indicates that the learning video used was practical and very helpful in the online learning process during the Covid-19 period

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya hasil belajar IPA siswa kelas IX SMPN 2 BatangAnai. Faktor penyebabnya ada yang berasal dari dalam diri siswa dan dari luar diri siswa. Faktoryang berasal dari dalam diri siswa seperti malas belajar. Faktor luar diri siswa seperti faktorlingkungan keluarga yang terdiri dari faktor orang tua, suasana keluarga, lingkungan keluarga,kondisi keluarga yang tidak sehat atau broken home. Hal ini berpengaruh dalam proses belajardan hasil belajar siswa di sekolah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan gayakepemimpinan orang tua terhadap hasil belajar IPA siswa kelas IX SMPN 2 Batang Anai.Jenispenelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif. Populasi penelitian adalah semua siswa kelas IXSMPN 2 Batang Anai yang terdaftar dalam tahun ajaran 2016/2017. Sampel penelitian adalahsemua kelas IX SMPN 2 Batang Anai. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan totalsampling. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan berupa angket atau kuesioner yang diberikan kesiswa. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan untuk menguji hipotesis adalah analisis korelasidengan menggunakan uji chi kuadrat untuk melihat antara hubungan gaya kepemimpinan oramgtua dengan hasil belajar IPA siswa kelas IX SMPN 2 Batang Anai. Berdasarkan analisis datadidapatkan dua gaya kepemimpimam yaitu otoriter dan demokratis. Hasil uji hipotesis diperolehX2hitung< X2tabel = 0,004 < 3,841 sehingga hipotesis Ho diterima pada taraf nyata 0,05 danhipotesis Hi ditolak. Jadi tidak ada hubungan yang berarti antara gaya kepemimpinan orang tuaterhadap hasil belajar IPA siswa kelas IX SMPN 2 Batang Anai.

Abstract

This research was conducted due to the problem of cadets' leadership, which is still not perfect. The cadets' leadership is assumed to be influenced by parenting patterns from the institution and their self-efficacy. This research aims to describe the influence of parenting patterns and self-efficacy on the leadership of the cadet regiment. This quantitative research applied ex post facto methods. The population was the cadets of Batch VII and VIII at Merchant Marine Polytechnic of West Sumatera. Accordingly, the research sample used a probability sampling technique with proportionate stratified random sampling by using the Slovin formula. The total sample of this research was 191 cadets, while the instrumentation was a questionnaire about parenting patterns, self-efficacy, and leadership. The data collection technique involved giving a questionnaire directly to the sample. The data analysis technique used multiple linear regression analysis by using the SPSS application. The results showed that Hypotheses 1, 2, and 3 were accepted, which means parenting patterns and self-efficacy influenced the leadership of the cadet regiment, and there is an influence of self-efficacy and parenting patterns simultaneously on the leadership of the cadet regiment. The relevant practical implication of this research focused on both internal stakeholders, namely the lecturers or officers and the cadets of Merchant Marine Polytechnic of West Sumatera. Therefore, it is recommended that the director and management pay attention to the parenting patterns and the cadets pay attention to their self-efficacy in order to develop better leadership of the cadet regiment.

Abstract

This study aims to develop Applied Physics teaching materials based on a scientific approach to enhance students' creativity in the Nautical Technology Study Program at the Politeknik Pelayaran Sumatera Barat. Creativity, which includes critical thinking, flexibility, and originality, is an essential competence in science education to address the challenges of the workforce. This study employs the Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE development model, encompassing the stages of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The results indicate that students previously lacked relevant printed teaching materials, and the learning process relied on digital resources like presentations, which were deemed less scientific. The developed teaching materials cover Statics, Motion Dynamics, Fluids, and Temperature, presented systematically and applicatively. Experts have confirmed that these teaching materials have high feasibility, with an average score of ≥3.26, although some revisions are needed to enhance the context and relevance of the content. Student responses to these teaching materials demonstrate high effectiveness in helping them understand Applied Physics concepts, with average scores for material and language aspects reaching ≥3.09, respectively. Moreover, the scientific activities in the teaching materials successfully encouraged students to think creatively and generate new ideas. In conclusion, the scientific-based Applied Physics teaching materials developed effectively enhance student creativity and are relevant to education and industry needs. This study significantly contributes to innovation in science teaching methods in higher education.

Abstract

This study aims to develop teaching materials in the form of high school physics technology handouts in the Science Technology Society (STM) model on straight motion material. This type of research is research and development that uses six steps of research, namely potential problems, information gathering, product design, design validation, design improvement, and product trials. The research instrument used was a questionnaire. Based on the analysis of the validation of the handout by the lecturer, an average value of 79% and an analysis of 88.5% of teachers showed that the handout was valid, and the practicality value of two teachers by 89% showed that the handout was very practical to use. Based on the analysis of the data above, it can be concluded that the handout of the STM model is valid and very practical to be used as teaching material for class X high school semester

Abstract

This study aims to determine: 1) Difficulties in learning science for students at SMPN 2 Batang Anai 2) Factors that cause difficulties in learning science for students at SMPN 2 Batang Anai during the covid-19 pandemic, 3) efforts made to overcome difficulties learning science for students at SMPN 2 Batang Anai during the covid-19 pandemic. The population in this study were all students of SMPN 2 Batang Anai for the academic year 2020/2021. The sample technique in this study was taken using a random sampling technique. The research instrument that the researcher uses is in the form of a questionnaire or a questionnaire given to the sample and documentation. The analytical technique used is statistical test analysis technique. Statistical tests are used to see the accuracy or accuracy of an equation function to estimate the data that we analyze. The results of this study indicate that students' learning difficulties in science at SMPN 2 Batang Anai during the COVID-19 pandemic were categorized as low with a percentage of 28.25% with a score of 21% -40%.

Abstract

This research is background by the low of student activity in learning IPA for VII.2 class student of SMPN 2 Batang Anai. The causes are the teacher still lack of using interesting learning strategies. The lack of student desire to repeat the lesson has been given at the school, so it is difficult to understand by the student. Consequently the result of student learning is low. One of the way in improving the student active learning is to implement active learning strategies through the type of Giving Question and Getting Answer (GQGA). The purpose of this research is to improve the student activity in learning IPA for VII.2 class students of SMPN 2 Batang Anai through the type of GQGA.The kind of the research is action class research. The subject of this research is VII.2 class students of SMPN 2 Batang Anai who registered in period of 2015/2016. The instrument of this research was observation sheet in each meeting into two cyclus for student activity learning data, and result of final test in each final cyclus for result student learning data. Data analysis is like quantity analysis by using observation sheet, consist of positive and negative activities indicator student as long as learning in the class. Based on the data analysis is gotten the improve of student activities learning in positive indicator from 68% to cyclus 1 become 90% to cyclus 2. It influence to improve the student test achievement in percent in each final cyclus from 59% to cyclus 1 become 100% to cyclus 2. It can concluded there is improvement of the student activity in learning IPA for VII.2 class student of SMPN 2 Batang Anai through strategy active learning by the type of GQGA.

Abstract

Menjaga kinerja pompa air laut sebagai pendingin mesin di kapal KM Surya Pioneer sangat penting dengan mengetahui faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi kinerja pompa air laut dan upaya untuk menjaga kinerja pompa air laut tetap dalam kondisi yang baik dan tidak mengalami masalah di kapal KM. Surya Pioneer. Praktek berlayar dilaksanakan di KM. Surya Pioneer. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif yang bersifat deskriptif, pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan cara observasi, wawancara, dokumentasi dan teknik analisis data dengan reduksi data, penyajian data dan penarikan kesimpulan.Hasil penelitian menyimpulkan bahwa faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi kinerja pompa air laut di kapal adalah tersumbatnya strainer oleh lumpur atau sampah, dan tidak lurusnya poros pompa, bocornya mechanical seal. Dampaknya pada mesin yaitu bisa membuat mesin menjadi overheat karena pendingin tidak jalan dan cara mencegahnya dengan membersihkan sea chest strainer, memperbaiki poros yang tidak lurus , dan mengganti mechanical seal yang rusak
