Abstract

Chili (Capsicum annuum L.) exhibits a wide range of variations in terms of crown shape, fruit shape, fruit color, leaf color, leaf shape, and taste. While chili is commonly known as a food plant, it also serves as an attractive ornamental plant. Specifically, ornamental chili plants are desired to possess specific traits, such as compact growth, high fruit yield, and a variety of fruit colors within a single plant. This study aims to comprehensively describe the quantitative and qualitative superiority of the Nazla IPB variety in terms of its characteristics. The research was conducted in the Leuwikopo Darmaga experimental garden's greenhouse, located in Bogor, utilizing a randomized complete block design with four replications. The Nazla IPB variety, which is an open-pollinated (OP) cultivar, stands out due to its short plant height, ranging from 17.83 to 26.42 cm, making it highly suitable for ornamental purposes. Furthermore, the chili plants of the Nazla IPB variety possess a compact crown shape, enhancing their visual appeal, coupled with their short stature (ranging from 21.83 to 26.69 cm). The primary distinguishing features of the ornamental chili variety Nazla IPB include: 1) the color of the leaves, which transition from green (Green 137 C) to purple (Purple N186 A); 2) the black color of the young chili fruit (Black 203 A); 3) the fruit shape of Nazla IPB, which can be described as moderately triangular; and 4) the fruit undergoes a color transformation from black to dark green and finally to red. Nazla IPB has potential to serve as an attractive decorative plant option.

Abstract

Abstrak: Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilatarbelakangi oleh tingginya kasus Stunting di Desa Calingcing, Kecamatan Sukahening, Kabupaten Tasikmalaya. Selain itu, desa ini memiliki potensi lahan produktif yang besar tetapi tingkat konsumsi sayur dan buah oleh masyarakat juga rendah. Tujuan utama dari kegiatan ini adalah membantu masyarakat khususnya Kelompok Wanita Tani (KWT) Dahlia sebanyak 25 orang agar dapat meningkatkan kemampuanya dalam memanfaatkan lahan pertanian dengan jenis tanaman sayur dan buah melalui teknik hidroponik melalui shading house untuk meningkatkan nilai ekonomis potensi lahan, pendapatan dan ketahanan pangan keluarga. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat dilakukan pada bulan Juli hingga September 2022. Metode yang digunakan adalah pelatihan melalui kegiatan penyuluhan, demonstrasi dan pendampingan pembuatan isntalasi dan penanaman secara hidroponik. Sistem evaluasi menggunakan kuesioner pree test dan post test. Hasil dari kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini yaitu (1) Kelompok Wanita Tani (KWT) Dahlia dapan menerapkan pembuatan shading house, perakitan media tanam hidroponik dan menanam ragam buah dan sayur melalui media tanam hidroponik; dan (2) Terdapat peningkatan pengetahuan dan penerapan keterampilan Kelompok Wanita Tani (KWT) Dahlia terhadap inovasi hidroponik dalam shading house untuk penanaman sayuran dan buah, yaitu sebesar 88%. Hal ini terbukti dengan keberhasilan panen yang dapat dinikmati hasilnya oleh para anggota KWT Dahlia.Abstract: This community service activity was motivated by the high number of stunting cases in Calingcing Village, Sukahening District, Tasikmalaya Regency. Apart from that, this village has large potential for productive land but the level of vegetable and fruit consumption by the community is also low. The main objective of this activity is to help the community, especially the Dahlia Women's Farming Group of 25 people, to increase their ability to utilize agricultural land with types of vegetable and fruit plants using hydroponic techniques through shading houses to increase the potential economic value of land, income and food security. family. Community service activities will be carried out from July to September 2022 on agricultur land of Dahlia Women's Farming Group. The method used is training through outreach activities, demonstrations and assistance in making hydroponic installations and planting. The evaluation system uses pre-test and post-test questionnaires. The results of this community service activity are (1) the Dahlia Women's Farming Group can implement the construction of a shading house, assemble hydroponic planting media and plant a variety of fruit and vegetables using hydroponic planting media; and (2) There is an increase in knowledge and application of the skills of the Dahlia Women Farmers Group regarding hydroponic innovation in shading houses for growing vegetables and fruit, namely by 88%. This is proven by the success of the harvest that KWT Dahlia members can enjoy.

Abstract

Land in Tawangsari District, Sukoharjo Regency had a limiting factor in the form of water availability. One of the local commodities cultivated for generations on dry land in this region is gembili (Dioscorea sp.). However, the gembili cultivation process has not produced optimal productivity and is threatened with extinction. Therefore, gembili cultivation and use of dry land need to be optimized by carrying out integrated land management. The aim of utilizing dry land is to increase local food production and sustainability as alternative food and maintain national food security. This research was conducted using data on productivity, quantity and type of fertilizer obtained through interviews with gembili farmers and secondary data on soil types obtained from BPP Tawangsari District, Sukoharjo Regency. The results showed that grumusol and lithosol soil types had no significant effect (p > 0.05) on gembili productivity. Providing organic + inorganic fertilizer with giving organic fertilizer without a combination produced values that were not significantly different (p > 0.05). However, the average productivity results were sequentially from grumusol and lithosol (6.1 ton.ha-1 and 7.1 ton.ha-1). Meanwhile, the use of organic fertilizer is 8.06% higher compared to organic fertilizer + inorganic fertilizer. The results of the multiple regression test for organic fertilizer had a significant effect (p < 0.05) on the productivity of Dioscorea sp..

Abstract

Kemajuan seleksi menunjukkan sejauh mana nilai peningkatan yang diperoleh dari karakter yang diseleksi. Kemajuan seleksi dipengaruhi oleh intensitas seleksi, ragam dan heritabilitas. Percobaan ini bertujuan untuk memperoleh kandidat genotipe segregan transgresif pada populasi terseleksi cabai rawit. Hasil dari penelitian ini pada populasi F3-285290 dan F3-C321290 nilai kemajuan seleksinya positif untuk semua karakter kecuali untuk umur berbunga dan umur panen. Nilai heritabilitas populasi F3-285290 termasuk dalam kategori sedang untuk karakter bobot per buah, panjang tangkai buah dan jumlah buah per tanaman. Sedangkan nilai heritabilitas pada populasi F3-321290 yang termasuk kategori tinggi terdapat pada karakter umur panen, bobot per buah, panjang buah, diameter buah dan panjang tangkai buah. Genotipe segregan transgresif pada populasi F3-285290 terdapat pada karakter panjang buah, tebal daging buah dan panjang tangkai buah. Genotipe yang terverifikasi segregan transgresif hanya pada karakter panjang buah yang terdapat pada tiga genotipe yaitu F3-285290-205, F3-285290-248 dan F3-285290-257. Pada populasi F3-321290 genotipe segregan transgresif terdapat pada karakter tebal daging buah, panjang tangkai buah dan bobot buah per tanaman. Genotipe yang terverifikasi segregan transgresif hanya pada karakter bobot buah per tanaman yang terdapat pada dua genotipe yaitu F3-321290-33 dan F3-321290-293. Adanya informasi segregan transgresif pada kegiatan pemuliaan cabai rawit ini dapat dijadikan sebagai akselerasi dalam memperoleh kandidat calon varietas.

Abstract

Cabai, selain dimakan, dapat pula berfungsi sebagai tanaman hias yang mempunyai nilai keindahan. Berbagai nilai estetika yang dapat diambil antara lain adalah karakter pemendekan ruas, posisi bunga, dan warna buah muda. Pola warisan karakter itu diperlukan untuk pelaksanaan kegiatan seleksi. Informasi itu dimanfaatkan agar proses seleksi menjadi lebih efisien. Ciri pemendekan ruas pada tanaman cabai akan menjadikan bentuk tajuknya menjadi perdu, hal ini tentunya sangat menarik karena buah cabai akan terkelompok, posisi bunga dan warna buah muda juga dapat meningkatkan keindahan tanaman cabai hias. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendapatkan informasi mengenai pola pewarisan karakter kualitatif yang berhubungan dengan pemendekan ruas, posisi bunga, dan warna buah muda sebagai kriteria seleksi dalam proses pemilihan calon cabai hias. Tanaman yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah populasi tetua betina (P1) Seroja IPB yang memiliki karakter pemendekan ruas, posisi bunga tegak, dan warna buah hijau kekuningan, sedangkan tetua jantan (P2) Peter Pepper memiliki karakter buah berwarna hijau tua dan bentuk buah yang unik. Populasi dari tanaman cabai yang digunakan terdiri dari P1, P2, F1, dan F2. Analisis data dilakukan dengan uji Chi-kuadrat untuk menetapkan rasio Mendel dalam populasi F2. Temuan penelitian mengindikasikan semua karakter yang dipengaruhi oleh satu gen. Seluruh karakter diatur oleh satu gen dengan rasio 3 (dominan): 1 (resesif). Karakter pemendekan ruas, posisi bunga tegak, dan warna buah hijau tua adalah karakter yang bersifat resesif. Karakter resesif ini akan berguna sebagai kriteria seleksi karena tanaman hasil seleksi yang ditanam di generasi berikutnya tidak akan mengalami segregasi, sehingga tanaman akan lebih cepat seragam.

Abstract

Cayenne pepper is one of the important horticultural commodities and has high economic value for Indonesian people. The demand for cayenne pepper in Indonesia was relatively high, especially for household consumption. Therefore, superior varieties were needed to meet the needs of cayenne pepper in Indonesia. One way to guarantee the superiority of varieties and the validity of variety descriptions was to conduct yield testing. Our research aims to evaluate the performance and yield of seven genotypes of cayenne pepper. This research was carried out from March 2023 to September 2023 at Leuwikopo Experimental Garden, IPB University. It consisted of one factor: ten genotypes (seven genotypes and three control varieties). Experimental design in our research using randomized complete block design with three replications. The results showed that there were differences in performance and yield between cayenne pepper genotypes. The flowering ages of all genotypes ranged from 41.33 - 45.67 DAP with the harvest ages ranging from 83.33 - 92.67 DAP. The percentage of plants observed at the end of harvest ranged from 37.50 - 70.83% with the Rawita F1 variety showing the lowest percentage (37.50%). F1.372340 genotype was the highest productivity genotype, reaching 4.80 t.ha-1. The productivity of F1.372340 was higher than control varieties, which ranged from 1.48 to 2.72 t.ha-1. Line’s genotype had a shelf life ranging from 9.30 - 15.00 DAH which was the same or better than the control varieties which ranged from 9.67-12.33 DAH.
