Abstract

Aizuchi merupakan respon singkat dalam budaya komunikasi Jepang yang menandakan bahwa mitra tutur (pendengar) memperhatikan, mendengarkan, dan memahami isi pembicaraan yang disampaikan oleh penutur. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan bentuk dan fungsi aizuchi yang digunakan oleh sesama orang asing (gaikokujin). Penelitian ini menggunakan teknik deskriptif kualitatif. Sumber data penelitian ini diambil dari 5 video pada Channel Youtube The Ogasawara Family. Objek data penelitian ini berupa tuturan aizuchi yang dituturkan oleh 4 wanita yang berasal dari Negara Ukraina, Rusia, Jerman, dan Prancis. Penelitian ini menggunakan teknik simak catat untuk pengumpulan data dan teknik unsur pilah penentu dengan daya pilah pragmatis untuk analisis dan pengolahan data. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori Horiguchi untuk menganalisis bentuk aizuchi dan teori Kubota untuk menganalisis fungsi aizuchi. Hasil analisis data ditemukan 175 tuturan aizuchi. Bentuk aizuchi ditemukan 152 tuturan bentuk aizuchishi (bentuk ungkapan), 22 tuturan bentuk kurikaeshi (bentuk pengulangan), dan 1 tuturan bentuk iikae (bentuk kata pengganti). Ditemukan 9 jenis ekspresi aizuchi yaitu“そう系”、“あ系”、“繰り返し系”、“ヘー” 、“え系” 、“はい” 、“いや” 、“分かる” 、“うん”. Fungsi aizuchi ditemukan fungsi doi no shingou (tanda sependapat) sebanyak 56 tuturan, fungsi rikaishiteiru to iu shingou (tanda memahami) sebanyak 28 tuturan, fungsi kiiteiru to iu shingou (tanda mendengarkan) sebanyak 53 tuturan, fungsi jyouhou wo tsuika, teisei, youkyuu no shingou (tanda menambahkan, mengoreksi, meminta informasi) sebanyak 21 tuturan, fungsi kanjou no shingou (tanda ungkapan perasaan) sebanyak 12 tuturan, fungsi hitei no shingou (tanda menyangkal) sebanyak 3 tuturan, dan fungsi ma wo motaseru shingou (tanda penyambung jeda) sebanyak 2 tuturan. Sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa aizuchi banyak digunakan dalam percakapan sehari-hari antar orang asing (gaikokujin) menggunakan bahasa Jepang.

Abstract

Intercultural Contact (Hereafter IC) is when two or more people from different cultural backgrounds carry out socio-economic or political exchanges in one contact zone. Intercultural contact is possible to appear everywhere and by one. Intercultural contact concerning immigrants, either as students or workers abroad. This study aims to investigate the intercultural contact of Indonesian workers, focusing on trainees (Jjisshusei) in Japan. International workers face cross-cultural communication with co-workers or domestic workers. The trainees as respondents in this study are sent to Japan as a form of on-the-job training in collaboration between the Indonesian government and the Japanese. The trainees were exposed to the Japanese language, culture, society, and economy. Therefore, their cultural competence is essential. This study examines intercultural communication in the trainee’s community, mainly focusing on how intercultural contact occurs between trainees and Japanese residents. The result showed that apart from the trainees’ understanding of the importance of learning Japanese, they still lack experience in communicating with Japanese locals besides their co-workers. This study contributes to second language learning in intercultural understanding and L2 learners’ identity.

Abstract

Due to the covid-19 pandemic, online platform has made learning more flexible. However, in its implementation, there are obstacles that hinder learning to achieve its goals. Instagram, a social media platform for sharing photos and videos, is one of the most popular social media among millennials. The existence of Instagram as an alternative learning tool makes it possible to supports the achievement of learning objectives, especially language learning. The purpose of this study was to identify the use of social media Instagram as a medium for learning Japanese. This study uses the method of observation and documentation. The data objects are learning content and Instagram features utilization of five content accounts of Japanese language learning creators in Indonesia, namely @auliasenpai, @kejepangan, @harumon.japanese, @jepangeasy and @nihongo.monggo accounts. The results of the study indicate that Instagram social media can be an alternative medium for learning Japanese by utilizing existing Instagram features to create learning content. The types of material themes found in the data are Japanese linguistic, historical and cultural materials. Besides, the introduced Japanese language learning material was diverse, containing linguistic materials which introduce idioms, expressions and several others. These accounts also address JLPT or Noryokushiken test units.

Abstract

Artikel ini memaparkan kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat bagi dosen program studi Pendidikan Bahasa Jepang Universitas Negeri Semarang. Adapun tujuannya adalah untuk menumbuhkan kompetensi komunikasi antar budaya para calon pemagang Indonesia yang akan diberangkatkan ke Jepang. Khalayak sasaran kegiatan ini yaitu 20 orang calon pemagang atau Jisshusei dari LPK Yutaka Mitra Global Indonesia. Metode pelaksanaan program yang dilaksanakan yaitu: (1) pemberian penguatan pemahaman komunikasi antarbudaya bagi calon pemagang Jepang; (2) pengayaan materi tentang budaya Jepang khususnya Honne dan Tatemae; (3) pemberian sosialisasi undang-undang pemagangan teknis bagi calon pemagang dari LPK Yutaka Mitra Global Indonesia. Kegiatan ini dilakukan mengingat para pekerja migran Ketika di Jepang menghadapi kendala berkomunikasi dengan orang Jepang. Dikarenakan program pelatihan Bahasa Jepang yang cukup pendek, sehingga pemahaman yang dilatarbelakangi social budaya dan kompetensi pragmatic masih kurang. Hasil yang dicapai adalah adanya kesadaran dalam pemahaman komunikasi antarbudaya yang disebabkan perbedaan budaya antara Indonesia dan Jepang. Selain itu, calon pemagang perlu mengetahui segala bentuk ketentuan pemagang teknis yang tertulis yang dikeluarkan oleh pemerintah Jepang.

Abstract

In interpersonal communication, the listeners' role is as necessary as the speaker's. Backchannel is considered a universal behavior; it often occurs in the conversation to send a signal from the listener without claiming the floor. Linguists have identified backchannel responses in many languages and cultural differences regarding the backchannel's type, frequency, and placement. This study investigates the use of backchannel in Indonesian conversation by native speakers in interview settings. This mixed-method study combines a quantitative and qualitative study that examines the function and frequency of ten dyadic Indonesian native speakers in an interview setting. The sampling subject participant is 20 Indonesian native speakers with each gender; we selected ten people whose first language is the Indonesian language Each interview session took 20 to 30 minutes, totalling 4 hours, and 20 minutes of dialogue for the whole corpus. Based on the study findings, Indonesian native speakers often use nodding (each gender has the same frequency of around 42%) as a non-verbal backchannel. The current analysis suggests that nodding and facial expressions such as smiles, and laughter consider one of the listener responses in Indonesian conversation. Indonesian speakers' verbal backchannel does occur, but nodding occurs most frequently as a sign of the backchannel. The non-verbal behavior of nodding gives listening signals without bothering the speaker's utterance. The current study adds to our understanding of the listener's role in Indonesian conversation. These results contribute to intercultural understanding in the era of globalization.
