Abstract

Tujuan dari pengabdian ini adalah memberikan pembekalan pendalaman materi Olimpiade Sains Nasional (OSN) yang berkaitan dengan bidang kedokteran yaitu substansi genetika. Kegiatan pengabdian ini dilaksanakan pada tanggal 13 hingga 23 Februari 2023 dan dilaksanakan secara full online. Program Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat ini memiliki skema Pemberdayaan Kemitraan Masyarakat (PKM). Mitra kegiatan adalah 17 siswa SMAN 1 Tarik Sidoarjo yang bergabung dalam Biologi Club sekaligus kandidat seleksi Olimpiade sains kabupaten (OSK) mata pelajaran biologi dan 5 orang guru mata pelajaran Biologi. Properti yang diperlukan dalam pengabdian adalah laptop yang terkoneksi dengan wifi, google drive untuk materi power point (PPT) dan video, aplikasi go-formative untuk pretest dan posttest, handphone atau laptop untuk mengakses soal test. Materi yang diperdalam adalah substansi genetika, meliputi DNA, RNA, dan Replikasi DNA. Hasil pre test dan post test dianalisis secara deskriptif. Hasil kegiatan ini adalah pihak sekolah memberikan dukungan penuh terhadap kegiatan belajar ini. Kegiatan pendalaman materi berjalan lancar dan diikuti oleh 11 siswa dan 2 orang guru mata pelajaran biologi. Siswa sudah mulai beradaptasi dengan soal-soal dasar level perguruan tinggi yang diberikan oleh pemateri dalam satu hari pelaksanaan. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan nilai rerata pretest dan posttest, selain itu ada peningkatan jumlah jawaban benar per soal pada saat posttest dibandingkan pretest. Jumlah peserta Olimpiade yang memenuhi kriteria nilai naik di atas 50 ada 9 orang. Pendalaman materi OSN perlu dilanjutkan dengan topik lain dan siswa perlu berlatih banyak soal OSN.

Abstract

Penurunan kognitif akibat usia berdampak besar bagi kehidupan sehari-hari lansia dan peningkatan risiko kematiannya, serta menimbulkan beban yang besar bagi masyarakat. Domain kognitif merupakan bagian dari jaras penghidu, sehingga fungsi penghidu dapat berhubungan dengan fungsi kognitif. Penelitian analitik observasional dengan rancang bangun potong lintang ini dilakukan pada bulan Mei - Juni 2023 yang bertujuan untuk menganalisis hubungan antara fungsi penghidu dan fungsi kognitif pada lansia. Total sampling digunakan dalam pemilihan sampel dan uji korelasi Spearman dalam menganalisis hubungan. Total sampel sebanyak 89 orang lansia diperoleh dari empat panti werda di Kota Surabaya. Mayoritas lansia dalam penelitian ini adalah perempuan (65,17%) dan berusia 60-74 tahun (47,19%). Lebih dari separuh lansia mengalami anosmia (55,06%) dan beberapa mengalami hiposmia (17,98%). Sebagian besar lansia tidak mengalami gangguan fungsi kognitif (64,04%) dan pada sebagian kecil didapatkan gangguan fungsi kognitif berat (3,37%). Penelitian ini juga menemukan hubungan yang bermakna antara fungsi penghidu dan fungsi kognitif pada lansia (p = 0,000) dengan kekuatan hubungan bersifat sedang dan arah hubungan bernilai positif (r = 0,466) yang menyimpulkan semakin terganggu fungsi penghidu lansia, maka semakin tinggi risiko lansia untuk mengalami gangguan fungsi kognitif sebesar 46,6%. Abstract

Coffee drinking habits exist in Indonesian culture. Coffee as the primary source of caffeine is here the effect of embryotoxicity on paralysis, wrong brain. The brain is going on so that the body is a curiosity. Fibronectin and shroom proteins play in the primary stacking cage, which is the seasoning of the nerve roof. This study aimed to predict molecular inhibition of compounds in coffee in fibronectin protein and shroom protein in silica. The research method used samples of ligands and target proteins from the PubChem database and protein databank, then analyzed using PyRx, Discovery Studio, and PyMol software. The results of the study of literature there are five compounds in coffee. As a result of molecular docking simulation analysis, caffeine compounds (CID 2519) had lower total binding energy (-9.9 kcal/mol) in other combinations in fibronectin and shroom proteins. There are six residues of the amino acid fibronectin and 5 in shroom with caffeine. There are chemical bonds provided for caffeine compounds consisting of hydrophobic, alkyl, Van der Waals, and electrostatic. Caffeine can inhibit fibronectin and shroom protein activity and in vitro and in vivo tests to validate bioinformatics results.

Abstract

Physical and mental changes in the elderly can have an impact on the health of the elderly. Dementia is one of the main health problems experienced by the elderly, characterized by decreased cognitive function that impacts quality of life and independence. Lack of public understanding of early detection, treatment, and prevention of dementia increases the risk of delayed treatment and worsens the condition of the elderly. This community service aims to increase knowledge and awareness of dementia through interactive seminars for the elderly and their families at GKI Sepanjang Sidoarjo. The results of the interactive seminar showed that the percentage of correct answers in the post-test increased by 13.14% from the pre-test. As many as five out of 10 questions with correct answers amounted to more than 50% of the total respondents. Judging from the answers obtained, program participants were not familiar with examples of cognitive functions and the definition of Hoarding Syndrome. At the end of this activity, there was an increase in participants' understanding of improving the health of the elderly, but there were still questions that participants could not answer. In conclusion, this activity succeeded in increasing health literacy related to dementia among the elderly and their families at GKI Sepanjang Sidoarjo, but other educational methods or media are needed to further increase the knowledge of the elderly regarding dementia.

Abstract

Toxoplasmosis is an infection caused by the protozoan parasite Toxoplasma gondii. One of the transmission routes of T. gondii infection is the consumption of undercooked meat. Goats are an important source of income for farmers in Bali and have been reported to have the potential to carry T. gondii. The aim of this study was to detect the presence of Toxoplasma gondii contamination in goat meat in Kuta and Ubud, Bali, using molecular methods with BAG1 primers. Meat samples obtained from markets in Kuta and Ubud were sectioned, followed by extraction of T. gondii DNA, amplified by PCR, and electrophoresed on a 1% agarose gel. The resulting amplification products were approximately 470 base pairs in size. The study results indicated that goat meat was only successfully obtained from the Kuta market. Examination for the presence of T. gondii parasite in goat meat from the Kuta market targeting the BAG1 gene yielded all negative results (100%). Hygiene in goat husbandry should be maintained and even improved. Meat sold in markets or stores must be routinely inspected to ensure safety. Additionally, meat should be cooked at sufficiently high temperatures, and consumption of undercooked or rare meat should be avoided
