The implementation of a digital identity system in Indonesia, specifically through the introduction of digital ID cards, represents a significant milestone in the country's public administration. This policy aims to streamline administrative processes, enhance service access, and ensure more efficient management of citizen data. However, the shift to digital identities presents challenges related to personal data protection, technological infrastructure, and public acceptance. This study explores the implications of the digital identity policy, focusing on legal frameworks, public reception, and the protection of personal data. Using a qualitative approach, the study analyzes key findings from interviews, document reviews, and observations, highlighting critical issues such as the security of biometric data, the integration of digital identity systems across public services, and the public's understanding of digital rights. The study concludes with policy recommendations aimed at strengthening data protection laws, improving infrastructure in underserved areas, and fostering greater public awareness to ensure a successful transition to a digital identity system in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study examines the legal aspects of the use of deepfake technology in political campaigns and its implications for the integrity of democracy. Through a qualitative approach with normative legal analysis methods, this study maps regulations related to deepfake in various countries, analyzes case studies of the use of deepfake in political campaigns, and evaluates the effectiveness of regulations in Indonesia. The results show that regulations on deepfake in political campaigns vary significantly between countries, with some countries such as the United States (at the state level) and the European Union having implemented specific regulations, while Indonesia still relies on the Electronic Information and Transactions Law (UU ITE) which does not specifically regulate deepfake. Case study analysis reveals the use of deepfake for positive purposes such as translating political speeches (India) and negative purposes such as spreading disinformation (United States, Russia, Philippines). The main challenges to regulation in Indonesia include the lack of public awareness, limited detection technology, the speed of information dissemination on social media, and the absence of specific sanctions for the misuse of deepfake in a political context. Based on these findings, this study recommends the establishment of specific regulations related to deepfake, strengthening multi-party collaboration in developing detection systems, increasing public education through digital literacy campaigns, and implementing strict law enforcement with specific sanctions. A synergy between comprehensive regulation, advanced detection technology, and high public awareness is needed to mitigate the negative impact of deepfakes on democratic integrity and ensure that this technology is used ethically in political communication.

Abstract

This literature review examines the potential use of earthworm extract (Pheretima javanica K) as an alternative treatment for typhus disease. The study analyzes multiple research findings regarding the antibacterial properties of earthworm extracts against Salmonella typhi, the causative agent of typhus. Through a comprehensive review of studies from Web of Science, PubMed, and Google Scholar databases, this research evaluates the effectiveness of different earthworm species and extraction methods. The findings indicate that Pheretima javanica shows promising antimicrobial properties, particularly when extracted with ethanol, while other species such as Lumbricus rubellus demonstrate limited effectiveness. Pheretima javanica shows promise, other species like Lumbricus rubellus demonstrate limited or no significant antibacterial activity against Salmonella typhi. The success of treatment appears to be heavily dependent on factors such as extraction technique, concentration, and testing methodology. Animal studies, particularly those using white rats, have shown encouraging results with specific dosages, but human trials remain necessary to establish clinical efficacy and safety. The varying results across different studies emphasize the need for standardized extraction methods and testing protocols to ensure consistent outcomes.

Abstract

This study explores the digital-based public communication strategies implemented by the Teluk Bintuni Regency Government, with a focus on the challenges and opportunities of utilizing technology to convey information to the public. As a developing region in West Papua, Teluk Bintuni faces unique geographical and infrastructural challenges, alongside a diverse cultural landscape. The study highlights how digital media, including social media platforms, websites, and online applications, is used to disseminate government policies, development programs, and emergency information. However, it also identifies key barriers such as limited internet access in rural areas, low digital literacy, and insufficient technological infrastructure. The study examines how traditional communication methods, such as local language usage and the involvement of community leaders, play a vital role in ensuring effective communication in remote areas. Additionally, the research provides strategic recommendations for overcoming these challenges, such as improving digital infrastructure, enhancing digital literacy, and fostering collaboration with various stakeholders. The findings underscore the need for a hybrid communication approach that integrates both digital and traditional methods to bridge the digital divide and ensure inclusive public communication in Teluk Bintuni.

Abstract

Teluk Bintuni Regency, located in West Papua, offers significant natural and cultural tourism potential, yet its tourism promotion remains underdeveloped. This study explores the potential of broadcasting technology, particularly digital platforms, in enhancing tourism promotion in the region. Using a qualitative research approach, the study employed literature reviews, field observations, in-depth interviews with key stakeholders, and digital content analysis. The findings reveal that social media platforms such as Instagram, YouTube, and Facebook play a crucial role in promoting the area's natural beauty and cultural heritage. However, challenges such as limited internet access, inadequate infrastructure, and low digital literacy hinder the effective utilization of broadcasting technology. Based on these findings, several strategic recommendations are proposed, including the development of digital infrastructure, digital literacy training for local communities, collaboration with social media platforms, and the creation of engaging video content that highlights both the natural and cultural assets of Bintuni Bay. By overcoming these challenges, the region can leverage broadcasting technology to attract more tourists, stimulate economic growth, and create a sustainable tourism industry. This study offers valuable insights for Teluk Bintuni and similar regions in Indonesia to harness modern technology in promoting tourism while preserving local cultural heritage.

Abstract

This study examines the gap in representation of marginal languages and cultures in digital humanities in Indonesia. As a country with more than 700 regional languages, Indonesia faces serious challenges in preserving linguistic diversity in the digital era. Urbanization, globalization, and the dominance of the Indonesian language have accelerated the extinction of regional languages, with only 13 regional languages having more than one million speakers. In the digital context, local languages and cultures tend to be marginalized by the dominance of the majority and global languages. Through a qualitative approach and literature review, this study identifies several key issues: the inequality of local language representation in digital humanities projects, limited data and resources, and minimal participation of local communities. Several initiatives such as BASAbali and NusaWrites demonstrate good practices in preserving languages through community-based approaches and the development of quality corpuses. However, structural challenges such as uneven digital infrastructure, low digital literacy, and the dominance of Western epistemology remain significant obstacles. This study recommends a collaborative approach between academics, local communities, government, and the private sector to build inclusive policies and initiatives. Digital technology needs to be positioned as a means of empowering local culture, not an instrument of global cultural domination, so that digital humanities can become a fair and representative space for the richness of Indonesian languages and cultures.

Abstract

Transgender and gender non-binary (TGD) youth face complex psychosocial challenges, including increased risk of mental health disorders due to gender identity incongruence with biological characteristics. One approach used to support the gender affirmation process is through medical interventions in the form of hormone therapy and other medical procedures. This article aims to review the scientific evidence related to the benefits and risks of medical interventions in TGD youth, with a focus on short-term and long-term impacts on mental health, physical health, and quality of life. The method used is a systematic literature review with a critical analysis of various scientific publications from international journals indexed by Scopus and PubMed over the past ten years. The results of the review indicate that medical interventions, such as puberty blockers and hormone therapy, have the potential to provide significant benefits in reducing gender dysphoria and improving mental health in the short term. However, there is limited evidence regarding safety and long-term effects, including risks to bone mineral density, cognitive function, and potential fertility disorders. In addition, there is variation in policies between countries in implementing these medical interventions, reflecting differences in ethical, legal, and cultural perspectives. The conclusion of this article emphasizes the need for a holistic, evidence-based approach that takes into account psychosocial aspects and individual human rights in providing health services to TGD adolescents. Longitudinal studies with stronger designs are urgently needed to understand the long-term impact of medical interventions and support appropriate clinical decision-making. These findings are expected to be a reference for health practitioners, policy makers, and the community in understanding health care issues for transgender and gender non-binary adolescents.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between parental involvement and academic achievement of high school students by comparing schools in urban and rural areas. A comparative quantitative approach with correlational survey method was employed, involving 100 eleventh-grade students (50 from urban schools and 50 from rural schools). Data were collected through questionnaires measuring parental involvement based on Epstein's theory and documentation of report card scores for academic achievement. Results revealed a significant positive correlation (r = 0.621; p < 0.05) between parental involvement and student academic achievement. Independent Samples T-Test showed a significant difference (p = 0.002) in academic achievement between urban school students (M = 86.20) and rural school students (M = 82.45). Similarly, parental involvement in urban schools demonstrated higher average scores (M = 82.14; SD = 6.43) compared to rural schools (M = 74.88; SD = 7.12). These findings confirm that geographical context influences patterns of parental involvement in education and its impact on academic achievement. This study contributes to educational policy formulation, particularly in developing effective parental involvement strategies tailored to specific school environments, and highlights the importance of collaborative programs between schools and families to address the urban-rural achievement gap.
