Abstract

This research aims to describe the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum in teaching and learning English at SMK Negeri 1 Bulango Selatan. The study focuses on six key indicators of learning based on the standard process: interactive, inspiring, enjoyable, challenging, motivating students to participate actively, and providing sufficient space for initiative, creativity, and independence. The research employed a descriptive qualitative method. The data were collected through observation and interviews involving an English teacher. The results indicate that the English teacher has successfully implemented most of the principles of the Merdeka Curriculum. The learning process was interactive, inspiring, enjoyable, and challenging, supported by student participation and the teacher’s efforts to create a positive classroom environment. However, the aspect of providing sufficient space for initiative, creativity, and independence was less implemented. The findings suggest that while the teacher applied the core values of the curriculum effectively, there is still a need for improvement in promoting student-centered learning through project-based and creative activities.

Abstract

Transition signals is one of the main important things in composing a coherent paragraph; in fact, many students still feel struggle to apply them in their academic writing. Therefore, this research is conducted in order to provide a comprehensive overview of how current students use transition signals in their undergraduate thesis. This research is conducted by using descriptive qualitative method. The data are obtained from nine findings and discussion chapters on undergraduate thesis of English department students. The data are classified based on the types of transition signals by Oshima and Hogue (2006). The result revealed that all types of transition signals are existed in undergraduate thesis, those are transition signals for chronological order, order of importance, additional idea, cause and effect, comparison and contrast, giving example, and conclusion. The type of transition signals that most frequently used is transition signals for addition whereas the type of transition as the least used is transition signals for order of importance. Also, the type of transition signals that most incorrectly used is transition signals for chronological order

Abstract

Filosofi hidup pohon pisang mengandung berbagai nilai yang relevan untuk pengembangan soft skills bagi mahasiswa Pendidikan Anak Usia Dini (PAUD). Artikel ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi bagaimana simbolisme pohon pisang dapat diintegrasikan dalam pembelajaran guna mengembangkan keterampilan seperti ketahanan, adaptasi, empati, kesederhanaan, serta penghargaan terhadap proses belajar. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan kajian literatur, penelitian ini mengidentifikasi nilai-nilai esensial dari filosofi hidup pohon pisang yang dapat diterapkan dalam pembelajaran mahasiswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa filosofi ini dapat membantu mahasiswa PAUD dalam mengembangkan kemampuan beradaptasi terhadap perubahan, meningkatkan empati dalam berinteraksi dengan anak-anak dan lingkungan sekitar, serta memperkuat keterampilan kerja sama dalam tim. Integrasi nilai-nilai ini diharapkan dapat memperkuat karakter mahasiswa sebagai calon pendidik yang kompeten dan siap menghadapi tantangan di dunia pendidikan. Penelitian ini juga menyoroti pentingnya pengembangan soft skills dalam menciptakan generasi pendidik yang tidak hanya profesional secara akademis tetapi juga memiliki karakter yang tangguh dan mampu memberikan kontribusi positif dalam masyarakat.
