Abstract

Daerah penelitian terletak di Kecamatan Peusangan dan sekitarnya di Kabupaten Bireuen, Provinsi Aceh. Daerah tersebut yang memiliki prospek kandungan hidrokarbon ditandai dengan terdapatnya beberapa sumur produksi minyak bumi milik warga yang masih berproduksi, namun tidak adanya pengolahan limbah yang baik sehingga kemungkinan adanya pencemaran airtanah disekitar sumur minyak tersebut. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui kondisi geologi daerah penelitian, dan untuk mengetahui kondisi hidrogeologi daerah penelitian meliputi kedalaman muka airtanah, arah aliran airtanah, kondisi akuifer, dan pencemaran airtanah terhadap kandungan hidrokarbon pada daerah penelitian. Penelitian ini menggunakan 3 (tiga) metode yaitu metode pemetaan geologi, metode pemetaan hidrogeologi dan metode analisis minyak dan lemak terhadap sampel airtanah pada daerah penelitian. Kondisi bentang alam pada daerah penelitian terbagi menjadi 3 (tiga) yaitu: Satuan Dataran Rendah, Satuan Dataran Rendah Pedalaman dan Satuan Perbukitan Rendah. Kondisi litologi pada daerah penelitian terbagi menjadi 4 (empat) satuan batuan yaitu: satuan endapan lempung, satuan batupasir, satuan batupasir karbonatan dan satuan batupasir gunungapi klastika. Hasil yang didapatkan dari analisis pencemaran airtanah terhadap kandungan hidrokarbon dari 5 (lima) sampel airtanah bahwa sampel airtanah dengan kode sumur 3 merupakan airtanah yang paling tercemar dengan hasil analisis minyak dan lemak sebesar 271.254,0 g/L dan telah melewati baku mutu airtanah yang telah ditentukan, sedangkan untuk sampel airtanah dengan kode sumur 1, sumur 2, sumur 4 dan sumur 5 masih berada dibawah baku mutu airtanah yaitu 1000 g/L.

Abstract

Subsurface mapping of the distribution of the reservoir is essential to be conducted in order to minimize many risks such as financial losses and also to increase profit from hydrocarbon production. This research was conducted on the Jatibarang conglomerate reservoir in Melandong Field, North West Java Basin, Indonesia. There are three objectives of this study which are to perform elastic impedance (EI) seismic inversion using available 3D seismic data, to determine the most suitable elastic impedance angle for the data, and to map spatiotemporal distribution of the Jatibarang Formation reservoir in the Melandong field, North West Java basin, Indonesia. EI inversion was selected for this study using the inversion angle ranging from the near stack (5º-15º) to the far stack (20º-30º). Results from this study show that EI seismic inversion can help in detecting the distribution of the lithology and hydrocarbon within the target zone. Angle 5º is considered as the best EI angle for the studied data as indicated by a correlation value of 0.65. Moreover, EI angles 15º and 10º are less reliable as shown by their correlation value of 0.6 and 0.56, respectively. These results are expected to provide some new insights into the distribution of the Jatibarang reservoir, and help in exploration, exploitation, and development of oil and gas fields in Melandong Field, North West Java Basin, Indonesia.

Abstract

The research location is in Ketukah, Gayo Lues Aceh, which is composed of the Late Oligocene to Early Miocene Rampong Formation. Lithology includes sandstones, conglomerates, and mudstones. The study aims to determine the origin of the sandstones in the Rampong Formation. Provenance studies are beneficial in providing information for oil and gas exploration. The analysis is critical for understanding the sediment transport channel, the overall depositional pattern of the basin, and predicting the location of sand bodies in the basin. Because the Rampong Formation is located in the North Sumatra Basin, the availability of provenance information is useful in efforts to search for oil and gas potential in the future. In this research, we restrict the study to the provenance, which includes the tectonic setting, origin rock, and paleoclimate where these sandstones originate. The methods are geological mapping and petrographic analysis. In petrographic analysis, we use JMicrovision to calculate mineral composition. The results showed that the sandstones of the Rampong Formation are arenite sandstones, especially sub-arkosic and sub-lith arenite. They originate from a tectonic setting known as a recycled orogen, related to the subduction of Eurasia and the Indo-Australian plates.  The sandstones were formed from granite that had undergone low metamorphism in the Late Cretaceous to the Eocene period. In addition, the paleoclimate is humid.

Abstract

Diagenetic studies observe the process of changing sedimentary deposits into sedimentary rocks. This study is critical because it relates to the quality of rock porosity, which can be filled by fluid.  The analysis of the Peunasu Formation is interesting because previous researchers considered that the Tertiary sedimentary rocks in the Northwest Aceh Basin are equivalent to rock units in the petroleum system in the North Sumatra Basin and Mergui Basin. Meanwhile, studies on the Peunasu Formation, a tertiary sedimentary rock, still need to be completed. Therefore, this study was carried out to determine the characteristics and diagenetic processes in the sandstone of the Peunasu Formation. The method used is petrographic observation, which identifies the composition of rocks along with textures such as grain size, roundness, sorting, grain contact, and porosity. The results are that the Peunasu Formation sandstone is classified as sublitharenite, lithic greywacke, and litharenite. The diagenetic regime is mesogenesis. In the mesogenesis stage, the sandstone of the Peunasu Formation experiences compaction, cementation, and dissolution. The porosity of the Peunasu Formation sandstone, as determined by the percentage of pores, exhibits a range of 0.5% to 16.8%, categorizing it as ranging from negligible to moderate. Compaction reduces the intergranular porosity, while the dissolution of grains contributes to the formation of secondary porosity.

Abstract

This study examines the grain-size distribution of the Tutut Formation sandstone using granulometric analysis. The purpose of this granulometric observation is to determine the depositional environment and its transportation mechanisms. In addition to using granulometric methods, this study also includes geological mapping to observe the rock lithology in the field. The results show that the study location consists of sandstone and mudstone units of the Tutut Formation, Meulaboh sand deposit units, and alluvial deposit units. The characteristics of Tutut Formation sandstone are gray-brown, reddish-brown due to weathering, coarse to fine sand grain size, medium to slightly rounded roundness, and does not react with HCl. Based on granulometric analysis, Tutut Formation sandstone has an average grain size of 0.214-0.327 ϕ, which is classified as coarse sand. The degree of sorting is 0.321 ϕ to 0.417 ϕ, with an average of 0.35 ϕ, so it is classified as good. Skewness values range from 0.107 to 0.263, with an average of 0.1775 ϕ, indicating fine skewness. The 0.1775 ϕ of the average skewness value indicates that the flow in this depositional environment is turbulent and a river depositional environment. Meanwhile, the kurtosis value ranges from 0.060 to 0.11, indicating a platykurtic to highly platykurtic distribution, suggesting a fairly diverse and even grain-size distribution from fine sizes in the matrix to coarse sizes. The diverse grain size implies that the matrix fills the pores between coarse grains. Thus, porosity is not available and has no potential as a reservoir rock.

Abstract

Gampong Baro, subdistrict of Mesjid Raya, Aceh Besar was strongly hit by the Indian ocean earthquake and tsunami in 2004. This is mainly due to its location which is situated near the shoreline. Moreover, many villagers of the Gampong Baro lost their lives during that geological hazard. It is well known that earthquake and tsunami may potentially return again in the future, and may cause another great misery. Our earlier, current study shows that many villagers of Gampong Baro are not familiar with the earthquake and tsunami hazards, and they have very little understanding of these geological phenomenon. Therefore, in order to help mitigate this geological hazard, we decided to organize a training about geological hazards mitigation procedures for the villagers of Gampong Baro, Aceh Besar. There are two objectives of this community service, which are: (1) to improve geological knowledge of the villagers of Gampong Baro, Aceh Besar; and (2) to conduct training about geological hazards mitigation procedures. Qualitative analysis, including focus group discussion, interviews, questionnaire, and surveys was carried out during this activity. Our findings show that villagers of Gampong Baro, Aceh Besar are eager to learn about geological knowledge, and have strong commitment to better understand many geological hazard mitigation procedures. They were very happy that we provided this training because they considered it as an important training, considering the potential of many geological hazards that may hit their village.

Abstract

Persoalan bencana gempa bumi sangat erat kaitannya dengan sisi kehidupan masyarakat baik bersifat individual maupun kelompok. Pemahaman akan potensi terjadinya bencana gempa bumi sangat penting di kehidupan sehari-hari. Dalam menangani bencana gempa bumi perlu dilakukan pendekatan secara menyeluruh dengan melibatkan semua elemen masyarakat. Hal ini bertujuan agar terbangun kesadaran akan potensi terjadinya bencana gempabumi. Pengabdian ini telah dilakukan dengan melibatkan salah satu elemen masyarakat yaitu pelajar di Sekolah Menengah Pertama (SMP) Negeri 2 Darul Imarah, Kabupaten Aceh Besar, Provinsi Aceh. Sosialisasi tentang bahaya dan dampak terjadinya bencana gempa bumi sangatlah penting mengingat bencana ini dapat terjadi kapan saja dan dimana saja. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk dapat memberikan informasi tentang penyebab terjadinya gempa bumi dan faktor bencana yang muncul akibat gempa bumi tersebut. Kegiatan sosialisasi ini dilakukan menggunakan metode Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) yang dilakukan dengan cara mengajak para peserta kegiatan untuk berpartisipasi dalam proses pengembangan sebuah kegiatan. Setelah mengikuti kegiatan ini, para pelajar diharapkan dapat berhati-hati apabila bencana gempa bumi tersebut muncul serta dapat melakukan tindakan mitigasi akibat bencana yang muncul dari gempa bumi.

Abstract

Unsur tanah jarang (UTJ) semakin diminati dalam beberapa tahun terakhir karena meningkatnya permintaan teknologi kendaraan listrik, industri hijau, dan industri lainnya. Indonesia memiliki potensi UTJ yang berkaitan dengan keberadaan batuan beku dan batuan sedimen. Penelitian pada batupasir Formasi Rampong di Ketukah, Gayo Lues menarik dilakukan karena batuan ini berasal dari pelapukan batuan granit. Tujuan studi ini adalah untuk mengetahui komposisi batupasir Formasi Rampong dan unsur – unsur kimia batuan, termasuk unsur utama dan UTJ. Metode yang digunakan meliputi analisis petrografi dan geokimia menggunakan teknik XRF dan ICP. Enam sampel petrografi diamati terdiri dari empat batupasir quartz arenite dan dua batupasir feldsphatic greywacke. Kedua jenis batupasir tersebut merupakan batuan yang tersusun dari dominan butiran, dengan komposisi matriks 2.5% - 4.5% pada batupasir quartz arenite dan 18.83% - 21.13% pada batupasir feldsphatic greywacke. Quartz arenite tersusun dari mineral kuarsa, sedikit litik dan muskovit, semen silika dan semen oksida besi. Feldsphatic greywacke terdiri dari kuarsa, K-Feldspar, plagioklas, fragmen litik, muskovit, semen silika serta semen oksida besi. Analisis geokimia mengungkapkan bahwa UTJ pada batupasir ini adalah Neodimium (Nd) berkisar antara 19.21 ppm hingga 23.81 ppm dan Praseodimium (Pr) berkisar antara 5.76 ppm hingga 5.89 ppm. Unsur tersebut diinterpretasikan terkonsentrasi dalam mineral lempung dan oksida besi dengan pengkayaan relatif rendah.

Abstract

Kecamatan Babahrot mempunyai tata gunalahan yang diperuntukkan sebagai area perkebunan sawit dan pemukiman penduduk. Potensi akan terjadinya pencemaran airtanah sangat memungkinkan dikarenakan penggunaan pupuk pada area perkebunan sawit dilakukan secara terus menerus. Kualitas dan kuantitas airtanah menjadi penting untuk diperhatikan, mengingat airtanah merupakan sumber utama kehidupan makhluk hidup. Studi kerentanan airtanah menggunakan metode GOD (Groundwater Occurrence, Overlaying Lithology and Depth Of Groundwater) berdasarkan data resistivitas dan hidrogeologi memiliki peran yang sangat penting dalam studi pencemaran airtanah. Metode GOD dalam studi kerentanan intrinsik airtanah dilakukan pada 3 jenis parameter meliputi tipe akuifer, tipe akuitar, dan kedalaman muka airtanah. Penggunaan metode GOD dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk dapat memetakan zonasi potensi kerentanan airtanah terhadap pencemaran di lokasi penelitian. Berdasarkan pengamatan dilapangan diperoleh hasil kondisi hidrogeologi di Kecamatan Babahrot memiliki kedalaman muka airtanah sebesar 0,42 hingga 1,58 meter, sedangkan jenis akuifer tergolong kedalam jenis akuifer bebas dan akuifer tertekan dengan litologi terdiri dari pasir, pasir dan kerikil jenuh. Untuk jenis akuitar dilokasi penelitian berdasarkan data resistivitas diperoleh hasil yaitu lempung pasiran, lempung, dan kerikil sedang. Berdasarkan metode GOD yang telah dilakukan, menunjukkan hasil tingkat kerentanan airtanah di lokasi penelitian termasuk kedalam kategori rendah, tinggi, dan sangat tinggi. Dari hasil pengujian geokimia airtanah dilokasi penelitian menunjukkan nilai konsentrasi biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) pada 3 titik sampel airtanah di lokasi penelitian melewati batas ambang dengan batas maksimum sebesar 2 mg/l yaitu pada sumur S-01 sebesar 2,032 mg/l; sumur S-02 sebanyak 2,490 mg/l, dan sumur S-05 sebanyak 2,1951 mg/l.
