Abstract

Diperlukan faktor koreksi β untuk memprediksi distribusi konsentrasi sedimen suspensi pada tepi sungai dengan nilai faktor koreksi β > 1.Suspension sediment transportation is the problem which is frequently occurs in the bottom of natural rivers, and it sometimes causes rivers shallowing. The mixing between water and coarse grain sediment or bed load will settle down faster rather than finer grain sediment or suspended load that will be transported further by stream water. Due of those can reduce both quality and quantity of river water. This research was conducted by measurement of sediment suspension concentration using two parameters which are vertical and transversal measurement. Point Integrated Sampling was employed in the measurement processes. Opcon probe was used to measure suspended sediment concentration meanwhile the propeller current meter was used to measure water velocity. In the implementation and observation both of measurement tools was drowned in the flowing water, in position  the cross section of rivers. Closer to the rivers bottom, the sediment suspension concentration is increased in the contrary it is decreased in concentration close to the surface. Rouse equation is able to predict the distribution of sediment suspension in the middle of the river, and when the transversal direction or location is not in the middle of river (0.5B) such as in the river profile side, Rouse equation is not good enough to predict the distribution of sediment suspension concentration. The correction factor (β) is needed in predicting concentration  of sediment suspension in rivers side, where  β > 1.

Abstract

The Geospatial and Mining Geology Expertise Program at SMKN 1 Balikpapan has limitations in terms of facilities and infrastructure, the workshop building uses a former automotive workshop building which is not sufficiently representative as other skill program workshops. In terms of Geomatics practice equipment, two skill programs with resource sharing with very minimal facilities, where the equipment owned are as follows: 3 units of PPD, 1 unit of Digital Theodholite, and 2 units of TS where 1 battery unit is damaged, not proportional to the number of students with geospatial skills as many as 165 people with 6 teachers and 248 skill students with 8 teachers being less than optimal during geomatics practice. The assistance and training of the simulation tool survey and stake out guide carried out by the PkM Poltekba team is an alternative tool for the teaching and learning process in the field of measurement, making it easier for teachers and students to facilitate basic measurements and surveys in the field and reduce the risk of using limited tools so that the teaching and learning process becomes more optimal.

Abstract

The infiltration rate of soil data is important in a wide range of planning, such as city planning, drainage design, landuse planning, flood prediction, flood disaster mitigation, etc. Collecting data of infiltration through in-site direct measurements is time consuming and costly. Indeed, inferring the infiltration rate using available parameters and the fittest model is needed. The model can shortcut the field measurement to get a predicted accurate infiltration rate that is worthy to support vital planning. This research aims to develop a model of infiltration rate based on initial water contents and grain size of soils. The results are three outstanding models based on the Multiple R Squared, Root Mean Square Error (RMSE), and Mean Average Error (MAE). The implication of the fittest model is reducing the cost and time to get the predicted infiltration rate. The field measurements can be skipped by sampling undisturbed soils and laboratory tests. Keywords: infiltration rate, initial water contents, grain size

Abstract

In the Mining Geology and Geospatial expertise program, practical learning is mostly conducted outdoors or in the field. This means that there is a high flow of equipment in and out of use, and students' negligence can cause damage to the equipment. Additionally, manual management of practice tools can be inefficient and result in losses, which can hinder the learning process. To address these issues, an online tool management system based on ubiquitous computing is proposed. This system can be accessed on various devices such as computers, androids, and smart TVs. The research begins with a preparatory phase that involves surveying user requirements. The implementation phase involves data analysis, application design, testing, and software implementation, followed by maintenance and further development. By using this system, practical tools can be tracked, and the advantages of the application can be accessed anywhere and anytime. This facilitates the administration of borrowing and returning practice tools at the workshop for Mining Geology and Geospatial SMKN 1 Balikpapan.

Abstract

The function of Primary arterial street is to serve as road users to connect to the national activity center and for regional activity, which is long-distance travel. On that road, there are so many roads damaged, damaged due to heavy vehicle loads and some high frequencies. The study aims to identify the type of damage and to help in how the maintenance management of this street through system will be managed and systematically stored in the form of databases. The research used Bina Marga methods, assessments of road conditions refer to the Organizing of Urban Road Maintenance Programs issued by the Directorate General of Bina Marga. The survey was divided into 20 segments per 100 meters, the data were obtained from field surveys, with damage data and field photos, and then input data of the street table that use the file formats in ArcGIS software, and later data can be further analyzed. Research shows that the dominant damage happens in grains and patching. Research results on the road of Soekarno-Hatta KM 8-10 have a pretty low rate of damage, shown by the maintenance priorities listed in a regular maintenance program, which means maintenance or repair simply top layer without repairing road structures

Abstract

The city of Balikpapan has many flood points every year,.Flood events are a priority issue for the Balikpapan City Government, in 2017 there was an increase in flood events by 89 incidents. To solve this problem is to apply the construction with the latest environmentally friendly technology, namely porous concrete so that surface water can seep into the ground and can become a groundwater reserve. Porous concrete is the latest type of concrete technology with high porosity which is applied as a concrete plate which allows rainwater and water from other sources to pass through. Limited facilities and infrastructure, lack of teaching staff relevant to the Construction and Housing Study Program at SMKN 1 Balikpapan School so that they cannot carry out concrete manufacturing and testing because this is a basic competency that every student must have. The activity began by formulating a program that was relevant to the knowledge and research of the PkM team of the Civil Engineering Department of the Balikpapan State Polytechnic and the problems that exist around Balikpanan City. SMKN 1 Balikpapan to carry out follow-up activities or programs to be implemented, activity planning, activity schedules and activity output. The activities were carried out for 2 days which included socialization and practice of making porous concret.

Abstract

The in-situ soil infiltration test using A Double Ring Infiltrometer (DRI) apparatus can be conducted in the field according to DIN 19682-7 standards and procedures. As required by these standards, the traditional paper-based measurement form can be replaced with a new application developed to meet standard requirements. The DRI apparatus consists of two concentric rings placed in the soil, filled with water, while the outer ring maintains a constant water level. The water level drop in the inner ring is observed and recorded at regular intervals. The infiltration rate can be calculated for each interval by measuring the change in water height over time. This new application facilitates the automatic calculation of both the actual soil infiltration rate and the Horton soil infiltration model. Comparison tests between the application results and Excel calculations have yielded similar outcomes. The goal of this research is to develop a mobile web-based application for recording data and calculating soil infiltration measurements using the DRI method. The research methodology involves transforming the measurement procedure into a concept, designing the application, and then implementing that design. By replacing the paper-based process, this application will enhance the efficiency, accuracy, and flexibility of soil infiltration measurement projects in various locations. Furthermore, the data will be stored in the cloud, allowing for crowdsourced infiltration data collection and monitoring from any location, including the office.
