Logos is a term known to many Christians. The word logos is expressed by humans, translated from Greek meaning: word, saying, message or word. The word Word also refers to what dwells in the human mind such as; mind, reason or logic. The research method used to answer this problem is a qualitative research method with literature study work that supports a historical criticism approach to the text. From this discussion, the author offers the result as a new perspective that the church needs to implement the meaning of the logos, through Christian education for the congregation.

Abstract

Abstract This study explores the revitalization of church music within the Minahasa Evangelical Christian Church (GMIM) through the lens of creative economy, identifying opportunities, and formulating contextually grounded development strategies. Despite rich musical traditions and high congregational competence in choral and traditional performances, these assets remain underutilized as economic resources because of the absence of professional management, digital infrastructure, and institutional policies. Employing a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, focus group discussions, direct observations, and document analysis across selected GMIM congregations in Minahasa. Thematic analysis revealed four key opportunity domains: physical products, digital content, performance services, and strategic collaboration. While digital platforms and inter-institutional partnerships offer high economic potential, their implementation is hindered by their limited technical capacity, copyright awareness, and formal revenue-sharing mechanisms. The findings indicate that current music-related activities are primarily driven by spiritual and communal motives, with economic benefits remaining incidental rather than systemic. To address this, this study proposes a four-pillar development framework of management, production, marketing, and values centered on the establishment of a church-based creative unit (“Bait Musica”), capacity-building programs, digitalization, and cultural preservation. Strategic initiatives, such as an annual Minahasan Sacred Music Festival, cooperative-based distribution, and monetized digital content, are recommended to ensure sustainability and inclusivity. Crucially, the model emphasizes ethical commercialization, ensuring that economic development aligns with spiritual integrity and communal values. This study contributes to the discourse on faith-based creative economies by demonstrating how religious institutions can serve as catalysts for local economic empowerment without compromising cultural or theological authenticity. The proposed framework offers a replicable model for other religious communities seeking to transform sacred art into sustainable community-driven enterprises.

Abstract

This article highlights the attitude towards insults based on 1 Peter 3:9 in the context of the passage 1 Peter 3:8–12. This study is a qualitative library research using a socio-rhetorical hermeneutic approach. The primary data source is the biblical text of 1 Peter 3:8–12, supported by related scriptural references and academic literature. Data were collected through document analysis, focusing on textual and contextual interpretation. The data analysis employed Vernon K. Robbins’ socio-rhetorical method, involving five textures: inner texture, intertexture, social and cultural texture, ideological texture, and sacred texture. The results of the study show that the call not to return insult for insult is not only a moral demand, but part of the ethical identity of the Christian community. The values of love, peace, and blessing are presented as an alternative response to social injustice. This study contributes to the understanding of biblical texts and their application in today's social context.

Abstract

This study examines the practice of tithing in GMIM Imanuel Toraget Congregation, Langowan Dua District, from a practical theology perspective and the factors influencing congregational awareness in giving offerings. The main issue identified is the low level of understanding among church members regarding tithing, influenced by limited church teachings, the perception of tithing as a financial burden, and economic factors. This research employs a qualitative method with a descriptive approach, collecting data through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings indicate that the congregation’s limited theological understanding and lack of church education contribute to the low practice of tithing. To enhance awareness, the church needs to strengthen practical theological education, develop a more systematic church policy, and provide economic support that enables members to give joyfully

Abstract

This paper focuses on the praxis of simplicity among Minahasan affiliates of the Christian Evangelical Church in Minahasa (GMIM) as a spirituality that opposes consumeristic religion. A qualitative case study design was employed to gather data in the form of in-depth interviews, participant observation, and analysis of documents using purposely chosen congregants who always engage in simple living in family, ministry, and everyday life. Data were interpreted using thematic analysis, which was informed by the theological-hermeneutical framework. The results indicate that simplicity is not considered an absence but a planned, religious lifestyle of sufficiency, gratitude, humility, and reliance on God’s providence. In practical terms, the concept of simplicity is reflected in judicious handling of finances, low-profile consumption, non-competitive involvement in worship, and judicious use of social media. Congregants define this way of life as a protest against consumerist ideas such as extravagance, flaunting, and spiritual arrogance, which are becoming more pronounced in church activities and general society. This opposition is anchored in the merging of Minahasan cultural norms, particularly mapalus (mutual help) and the GMIM ethos of love, service, and modesty. This study concludes that the praxis of simplicity among GMIM congregants is a situational spirituality of resistance that protects and revitalizes the church’s theological identity. It provides pastoral implications for faith formation, leadership, and ecclesial practices that are useful in enabling congregants to resist religious consumerism while being involved in modern social life in the plural context of Indonesia.
