In : Herlinda S et al.(Eds.), Prosiding Seminar Nasional Lahan Suboptimal ke-11 Tahun 2023, Palembang 21 Oktober 2023. (pp.285-297).Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).Pumpkin (Cucurbita moschata D.) can be used for various food preparations and contains high carotenoids. But now pumpkin production has decreased by 40% per year due to powdery mildew (Eryshipe cichoracearum). Symptoms of powdery mildew disease are marked white spots on the surface of the pumpkin leaves like flour. Biostimulants are believed to affect prevention of disease and pest attacks in the field. Purpose of this study was to determine the effect of biostimulants on the intensity of powdery mildew attacks on pumpkin and pest attacks. Research selected vegetative phase, observations made in the morning with the calculation of the percentage of powdery mildew disease using Natawigena formulation. There are 4 treatments, namely control, WB , RL and RL+WB , each treatment is 10 repetitions, 4x applications with a frequency of 1x a week, 5X observations. Results of the 2nd week the intensity of the disease increased due to rain after application with moist environmental conditions that support the growth of fungi. The effect of the 3 biostimulant treatments, can reduce the intensity of powdery mildew on pumpkin, was proven on the 3rd to 5th week, which is according to the data % severity of powdery mildew disease always decreases with a percentage of control that continues to increase. The percentage of influence of the greatest effectiveness in the treatment of WB, which is 95% powdery mildew and 2% Aulachopora similis pest control. In the application should see the weather conditions, so that the biostimulant applied can be optimally affected.

(Eds.), Prosiding Seminar Nasional Lahan Suboptimal ke-10 Tahun 2022, Palembang  27 Oktober 2022. pp. 1011-1022.  Palembang: Penerbit dan Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).The luffa plant/oyong is a fruit vegetable that is widely consumed by Indonesians in the form of fresh fruit The nutritional value of luffa is quite good because this fruit vegetable is a source of vitamins and minerals. Oyong plant is a climbing plant/vine. Oyong plants need a dry climate, with sufficient water availability throughout the season. Agricultural cultivation systems are never free from pests or diseases. In the field of farmers, there is not much knowledge about plant diseases or the causes of the disease itself. For this reason, this research practice aims to determine the effect of intercropping on disease attacks on Oyong (Luffa acutangula) plants. Field practice has been carried out in Kuripan Village, Empat Petulai Dangku District, Muara Enim Regency, South Sumatra Province from May to June 2022. The observation method used in this field practice is the direct observation method in the field which is carried out by determining the land, the land being taken has different cropping patterns. Then determine the plants to be sampled using the diagonal method. The data collected were primary data in the form of direct observation of symptoms in the field and secondary data obtained from farmer interviews. From the observation, there were 2 types of diseases, namely brown spots and virus mosaic.

The effect off mulch on pest attack on eggplant (Solanum melongena L.) in village  Timbangan,  Subdisctrict Indralaya North, Ogan Ilir City. In: Herlinda S et al. (Eds.), Prosiding Seminar Nasional Lahan Suboptimal ke-10 Tahun 2022, Palembang 27 Oktober 2022. pp. 1023-1032. Palembang: Penerbit dan Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).Eggplant is a type of vegetable that is favored by the community because besides having a good taste, it also contains lots of vitamins and nutrients. In eggplant cultivation, there are several obstacles that must be faced. This obstacle cannot be separated from the attack by plant pests. Plant damage caused by pests results in decreased production due to the growth and development phase of eggplant plants cannot grow and develop optimally. The purpose of this research is to determine the effect of technical culture on the types of pests, population and intensity of pest attacks on purple eggplant (Solanum melongena L.) in Timbangan Village, Indralaya Utara District, Ogan Ilir Regency. The method used includes determining the land, determining sample plots and sample plants, as well as observing population numbers and intensity of pest attacks. The research was conducted in two eggplant fields with different plant ages. The population number and intensity of pest attacks were analyzed using the t test at the 5% confidence level. The pests found in eggplant are Spodoptera litura, Cheilomenes sexmaculata, and Atractomorpha crenulata. Statistical analysis shows that there are significant differences in the two fields due to different cultivation techniques.

Intensity and incidence of bacterial wilt disease (Ralstonia solanacearum) on eucalyptus in Ogan Komering Ilir District, South Sumatera. In: Herlinda S et al. (Eds.), Prosiding Seminar Nasional Lahan Suboptimal ke-12 Tahun 2024, Palembang 21 Oktober 2024. (pp. 446–460). Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).Ralstonia solanacearum is a disease that attacks eucalyptus plants which is usually characterized by symptoms of wilting in the tops of leaves and young twigs which will then cause tissue death in plants. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to determine the intensity and incidence of bacterial wilt disease in PT Bumi Andalas Permai Ogan Komering Ilir. With the method of observing directly by surveying eucalyptus at PT Bumi Andalas Permai in Ogan Komering Ilir Regency, South Sumatra. The survey was conducted by taking samples of plants affected by disease in the field. Sampling method with Transect method. Samples were taken as many as 30 samples measuring 5x5 mm, ooze that was in the sample was taken and then isolated with NA media. Based on research on eucalyptus plants at PT Bumi Andalas Permai, it was found that plants of the EP4136AA clone type in the Air Sugihan district with a plant age of 10 months and a plant spacing of 1.87m per plant and in the Jeletung district with the same clone and a plant age of 11 months and a plant spacing of 1.87m had susceptibility to Ralstonia solanacearum bacterial wilt disease attack. In contrast, clones EP6098, EP0077, and EP0361 in PT Bumi Andalas Permai in Ogan Komering Ilir District are resistant to Ralstonia solanacearum disease. Attacks in both districts show different levels of intensity and incidence, in the Air Sugihan district the intensity is up to (6.063%) and the incidence is up to (16.50%) and the intensity in the Jelutung district is up to (16.688%) and the incidence is up to (17.25%). So the conclusion of this study found that eucalyptus plants attacked by bacterial wilt disease at PT Bumi Andalas Permai have intensity and incidence that fall into the heavy or high category.

Abstract

Arsi, A., Pratama, R., Adriansyah, F., Hamidson, H., Tricahyati, T., Suparman, S., Doni, R., Dona, R., Rinaldi Fahril Izzati, Rian Saputra, Gita Trianda, Lidya Dwi Wahyudi, Putri Barokah. (2024). The relationship of farmers' education level to pest and disease attacks in plant cultivation in South Sumatra. In: Herlinda S et al. (Eds.), Prosiding Seminar Nasional Lahan Suboptimal ke-12 Tahun 2024, Palembang  21 Oktober 2024. (pp. 787–798).  Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).The aimed of this research was to determine the behavior and understanding of farmers in using pesticides based on educational background. Pesticide is a poisonous chemical which is able to ruin human and animal health and also pollute the environment. The use of pesticide has to consider five properness i. e. proper target, proper active ingredient, proper time, proper dosage/concentration and proper equipment. Knowledge is one of factors affecting people behavior, including behavior in pesticide application. The less knowledge of farmers in pesticide application made them use too much pesticide which might cause degradation of environment and pesticide residue in agricultural products which is dangerous to consumers. Method applied in the study was an interview method using questionnaire to 180 farmers, followed by field observation in their field. 57% of respondents had Elementary School background, 20% had Junior High Scholl background, 23% had Senior High School background and one of them had university education background. The average score of pesticide use was 1,92 from farmers who graduated from bachelor, then the pesticide score of farmers who graduated from elementry school, junior high school, and high school had the same pesticide score of 2,39 and all education is categorized as good in using pesticides. The pesticide application score did not correlate with the presence of pest in the field but significanly correlate with the prsence of plant diseases. The highest plant disease intensity (26.55) was found in the farms belonged to farmers with elementary school backfround, while the lowest (6.61) was found in the field of farmer with university educational background.

Abstract

Rahayu, R. I., Pratama, R., Umayah, A., Saputra, M. R., Andreansya, D, J., Billah, E, A., Saputri, K., A. & Ningsi, S. Y. (2024). Cultivation of white oyster mushroom (Pleurotus ostreatus) in Payakabung Village, North Indralaya District, Ogan Ilir Regency, South Sumatera Province. In: Herlinda S et al. (Eds.), Prosiding Seminar Nasional Lahan Suboptimal ke-12 Tahun 2024, Palembang 21 Oktober 2024. (pp. 720–730).  Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).White Oyster Mushroom (Pleurotus ostreatus) is a unique mushroom with a high market price, although the cultivation of white oyster mushrooms has become one of the agricultural product development efforts in Indonesia. The purpose of this research was to find out what ingredients are really and how they affect the cultivation of white oyster mushrooms, as well as their development in the blog. White oyster mushrooms have a very high value in food production and cultivation. The use of baglogs is one of our studies in the development of white mushrooms. One important factor in harvesting high quality mushrooms is the durability and quality of the mushrooms themselves. The more optimal the harvesting method, the better the durability and quality of the picked mushrooms. Conclusions are based on the results obtained, taking into account the formulation of the problem and the objectives of the study. The stages of Mr. Eko Supandi's white oyster mushroom cultivation process are making a barn, preparing and making seedlings, making planting media or baglogs which consist of several stages, namely preparation of planting media, mixing ingredients and composting, packaging media, pasteurization, the next stage of seedling inoculation, incubation of seedlings for 40-60 days, baglog maintenance, harvesting and post-harvest.
