Abstract

Abstract: There are two findings found by the author from the observation related to science (physics) learning activities in several Junior High Schools (SMP) at Palangka Raya city. The first one, science learning tends to be more focused to the teachers, so that most students thought that science (physics) as the subject which is hard to understand. The second one, science (physics) teachers have not completely done their duty yet to plant  some moral values inside the students’ mind. Generally, the learning activities only focused to the cognitive aspect. Based on those two findings, science instruction which is interested from product, process, and attitude, need to be applied. Therefore, this article was presented to describe the harati instruction which try to balance between the “thingking” and the “feeling” aspect in science (physics) learning practice in Junior High School (SMP)Key Words: moral value, harati instruction Abstrak: Ada dua hasil observasi yang ditemukan penulis berkaitan dengan kegiatan pembelajaran IPA (fisika) di sekolah menengah pertama (SMP) di Kota Palangka Raya. Pertama pembelajaran IPA cenderung lebih berpusat pada guru sehingga sebagian besar siswa menganggap mata pelajaran IPA (fisika) sebagai mata pelajaran yang sulit dipahami. Hal ini berefek pada hasil belajar siswa yang tidak sesuai dengan harapan. Kedua, guru IPA (fisika) belum sepenuhnya melaksanakan tugasnya sebagai pendidik yang bertanggung jawab untuk menanamkan nilai moral dalam diri siswa. Umumnya pembelajaran hanya fokus kepada aspek kognitif. Berdasarkan dua hal tersebut, pembelajaran IPA yang sesuai dengan hakikatnya sebagai produk, proses, dan sikap yang terintegrasi perlu untuk dilakukan. Oleh sebab itu, artikel ini hadir untuk memaparkan pembelajaran harati, yaitu pembelajaran yang mengupayakan keseimbangan  antara  aspek  “pikir”  dengan “hati” dalam praktik pembelajaran IPA (fisika) di SMP.Kata Kunci: nilai moral, pembelajaran harati

Abstract

Abstract. The purpose of this study is to describe the understanding of the direct current electric circuit basic concept that posses by senior high school students and natural science (physics) student teacher. The research instrument used in this study was the concept understanding test in the form of objective test that accompanied by certainty of response index (CRI). This test was developed from some relevant studies. The concept understanding test was given to 30 senior high school students and also 32 graduate students of physics education study program in Palangka Raya City. From the study result, it was found that the same of the kind of missconception problem tends to be found among the senior high school students and also the graduate students, for example is the concept of the consumption model of electric current and battery are the fixed current supply. The missconceptions on the direct current circuit that found in this study were also have been founded in some studies from other countries for various group of age and level of study.  Keywords: missconception, electric circuit, direct current, CRI. Abstrak. Tujuan dari studi ini adalah untuk memberikan gambaran mengenai pemahaman siswa di sekolah menengah (SMA) dan mahasiswa calon guru IPA (fisika) terhadap konsep dasar rangkaian listrik arus searah. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini berupa tes pemahaman konsep dengan pilihan ganda beralasan terbuka disertai dengan certainty of response index (CRI). Tes ini dikembangkan dari beberapa studi yang relevan. Tes pemahaman konsep diberikan kepada 30 siswa SMA dan 32 mahasiswa Prodi S1 Pendidikan Fisika yang berada di Kota Palangka Raya. Berdasarkan hasil studi ditemukan kesalahan konsep (miskonsepsi) yang cenderung sama pada siswa dan mahasiswa, antara lain model konsumsi arus listrik dan baterai merupakan sumber arus listrik yang tetap. Kesalahan konsep (miskonsepsi) mengenai rangkaian listrik arus searah yang ditemukan dalam studi ini juga ditemukan di beberapa studi di luar negeri pada berbagai kelompok umur dan jenjang pendidikan. Kata kunci: miskonsepsi, rangkaian listrik, arus searah, CRI

Abstract

Tujuan dari artikel ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan pemahaman siswa SMP di Kota Palangka Raya terhadap konsep-konsep fisika. Konsep-konsep fisika yang menjadi kajian dalam penelitian ini adalah konsep gerak jatuh, listrik arus searah, gaya, berat dan massa, serta gelombang. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif dengan sampel penelitian 112 siswa kelas IX yang berasal dari tiga SMP di Kota Palangka Raya tahun 2015, yaitu SMPN 1, SMPN 6, dan SMPN 8.  Pemahaman konsep siswa dianalisis dengan  menggunakan certainty of response index (CRI). Berdasarkan hasil analisis data diperoleh hasil: siswa yang paham konsep di SMPN 1 hanya sebesar 8,89%, siswa yang paham konsep di SMPN 6 dan  SMPN 8 memperoleh persentase yang sama sebesar 11,49%. Berdasarkan temuan itu, dapat disimpulkan bahwa sebagian besar siswa di masing-masing sekolah sasaran penelitian ini masih memiliki pemahaman konsep yang rendah. Banyak miskonsepsi yang ditemukan pada konsep gerak jatuh, arus listrik, gaya, berat dan massa, serta gelombang. Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menghasilkan perangkat pembelajaran fisika berbasis kombinasi model pembelajaran langsung dan model pembelajaran kooperatif pada materi kalor yang valid, praktis, dan efektif untuk melatih keterampilan pros es sains. Pengembangan perangkat dalam penelitian ini mengadaptasi model. Validitas perangkat menunjukkan bahwa perangkat pembelajaran yang dikembangkan dapat digunakan dalam pembelajaran. Kepraktisan perangkat ditinjau dari: (a) Keterlaksanaan RPP 1 dan keterlaksanaan RPP 2 memperoleh kategori baik; dan (b) Aktivitas siswa yang dominan pada pertemuan pertama adalah memperhatikan penjelasan guru dan aktivitas yang dominan pada pertemuan kedua adalah mengerjakan LKS. Keefektifan perangkat ditinjau dari: (a) Ketuntasan hasil belajar kognitif produk sebesar 87,5% di kelas VII-A dan 86,36% di kelas VII-B; (b) Keterampilan proses sains melalui tes kinerja menghasilkan ketuntasan sebesar 75,00% di kelas VII-A dan 86,36% di kelas VII-B; dan (c) Respon siswa pada umumnya sangat positif terhadap perangkat dan kegiatan pembelajaran.  Berdasarkan temuan-temuan hasil penelitian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa perangkat pembelajaran berbasis model pembelajaran langsung dan model pembelajaran kooperatif melalui kegiatan eksperimen yang dikembangkan valid, praktis, dan efektif untuk digunakan dalam kegiatan pembelajaran fisika pada materi kalor.

Abstract

This study aims to map the quality of elementary schools in remote areas in Kapuas and North Barito districts Central Kalimantan Province based on modified e-EDS by considering the ease of use and understanding of the “user” (principal of remote primary schools). This descriptive study using a qualitative approach was conducted in 9 (nine) remote elementary schools in the Kapuas and North Barito districts. Sources of data in this study consisted of nine school principals and the education officials from the two districts. Data collection techniques were carried out by interview (interview), observation, and e-EDS instruments which were developed referring to the SNP for elementary and secondary education. Data analysis using interactive data analysis. The data validation technique used the confirmability technique. The results showed that all elementary schools in remote areas received “red report cards”. The issue of disparities in the quality of education in remote areas has not been properly handled by district and provincial policymakers and related stakeholders. In this article, we provide recommendations for conducting policy lending from countries that are successful in overcoming education problems in remote areas as a means of conducting policy lessons to address the quality problems of remote elementary schools in the future.

Abstract

Problem solving is a vital ability for students to be able to solve physics questions. Physics learning in the classroom needs to improve and develop this ability in students. Therefore, this research aims to analyze the students' problem-solving abilities as learning outcomes that have been obtained by high school students in Palangkaraya City. The research type is descriptive research with survey methods. The instrument used was a problem-solving ability test for the topic of work and energy. It was implemented on 155 12th grade in Palangkaraya. The results were analyzed quantitatively to identify the ability to describe problems, identify variables, plan solutions, implement plans, and check and evaluate the process. The results show that the students’ ability to describe problems and identify variables is better than other abilities. They can identify the variables in the questions and describe the physical situations. In addition, when the questions involve formula analysis and calculations, many students are unable to identify the equations that must be applied. They also have problems with their mathematical abilities to obtain the final answer. Educators need to concern these results in designing work and energy learning that can accommodate students' problem-solving abilities.

Abstract

The low psychomotor skills and students' learning outcomes in class VII of SMPN 1 Katingan Hilir motivate this research. The purpose of this study is to improve the psychomotor skills and learning outcomes of students through the application of the direct instruction model with the practicum method. This research is classroom action research where each cycle consists of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. The subjects of the study were all 25 students of class VII of SMPN 1 Katingan Hilir. Data on students' psychomotor skills were obtained through performance tests, while data on students' learning outcomes were collected through written tests. The results showed an increase in students' psychomotor skills and learning outcomes from cycle I to cycle II. In cycle I, 44% of students achieved the expected learning outcomes, and 68% of students had good psychomotor skills. In cycle II, 92% achieved the expected learning outcomes, and 88% of students had good psychomotor skills. This increase shows that the direct instruction model with the practicum method can improve students' psychomotor skills and learning outcomes in measurement material.

Abstract

Understanding the concept of energy is a crucial aspect of science education, as it serves as the foundation for comprehending various natural phenomena and processes around us. However, the energy concept comprehension of Class VIII-A students at SMP Negeri 13 Palangka Raya remains low due to their lack of active participation during lessons and the unappealing media used in teaching. This low understanding results in poor learning outcomes. To address this issue, this study employs the discovery learning model supported by PhET Simulation media. The aim of this research is to improve learning outcomes on the topic of energy. The study was conducted in two cycles using Classroom Action Research (CAR). Each cycle involved four stages: planning, action, observation, and reflection. Data were collected from 18 students in Class VIII-A of SMP Negeri 13 Palangka Raya during the 2023/2024 academic year and from colleagues. Data collection methods included teacher activity observation sheets and student learning outcome tests, which were then analyzed descriptively. The results showed an increase in the students' average scores from 87.06 in Cycle I to 87.22 in Cycle II, with an improvement in classical mastery from 82.35% to 83.33%. It can be concluded that the use of the discovery learning model supported by PhET Simulation media on the topic of energy successfully enhanced the learning outcomes of Class VIII-A students at SMP Negeri 13 Palangka Raya.

Abstract

Students need a proper mental model to advance mastery of physics and understand the application of the concept of science. Therefore, it is necessary to research how to improve students' mental models based on Newton's third law, which integrates modeling cycles into problem-based learning. As an anchor of learning, the students were asked to explain action and reaction forces and their effects on Borneo’s local wisdom, balogo, and jukung barenteng. The research method used was quasi-experimental with a pretest-posttest control group design. The samples included 87 students of the 10th class in SMAN 1 Kelua and MAN 2 Tabalong. The essay test obtained students' mental models and was analyzed using N-Gain and a one-way ANOVA. The data analysis showed that every class has an average gain, and the p-value for the post-test score is less than 0.05. This means significant differences exist between students' post-test scores in the experimental class and students' post-test scores in the control class. It is indicated that problem-based learning with the modeling cycle and problems of balogo and jukung barenteng improves students' mental model of Newton's Third Law. Integrating local cultural elements such as balogo and jukung barenteng fosters deeper conceptual comprehension and offers an effective method for contextualizing abstract physics concepts through real-world examples. These learning strategies could be applied to other physics topics to improve students’ mental models and learning engagement.

Abstract

Pembelajaran yang didominasi guru membuat siswa kelas IV di SDN 1 Tumbang Rungan pasif dan aktivitas belajar mereka minim. Untuk mengatasinya, diperlukan pembelajaran yang mendorong siswa belajar dalam kelompok untuk membangun pengetahuan. Karenanya, penelitian ini dilaksanakan untuk meningkatkan aktivitas dan hasil belajar siswa melalui pembelajaran berbasis masalah pada mata pelajaran Tematik di kelas IV SD. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) model Kurt Lewin yang dilaksanakan dalam tiga siklus. Setiap siklus terdiri dari perencanaan, pelaksanaan, pengamatan, dan refleksi. Instrumen pengumpul data berupa dokumen pekerjaan siswa, soal evaluasi dan lembar observasi. Skor rata-rata aktivitas belajar siswa pada siklus 1 sebesar 70,8, siklus 2 sebesar 71,5, dan siklus 3 sebesar 77,4. Skor rata-rata hasil belajar siswa pada siklus 1 sebesar 68, siklus 2 sebesar 68,05, dan siklus 3 sebesar 70,68. Hasil tersebut menunjukkan model Problem Based Learning dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa pada mata pelajaran Tematik. Mengacu pada indikator keberhasilan yang ditetapkan dalam penelitian ini, maka penelitian ini dinyatakan berhasil karena siswa yang memenuhi KKM melebihi 70%.
