Abstract

ABSTRACTThe community service that has been carried out is a workshop on strategies for publishing scientific works in scientific journals for Singkawang city science teachers. The objectives of this service activity are: (1) providing material regarding knowledge in how to write to publish scientific articles in research journals; (2) providing training in writing and publishing scientific articles. The focus of this service is to provide information to teachers so that they have an understanding in writing scientific papers in both quantitative and qualitative research methods; provide material on strategies for finding correct and relevant scientific journals so that they are recognized in the assessment of teachers' functional positions; provide material on how to send scientific paper manuscripts to scientific journals until the manuscript is accepted. The methods used in this scientific work publication workshop are: 1) planning; 2) implementation; and 3) reflection. Evaluation of activities is carried out through: 1) Question and answer; 2) Google form related to the questionnaire to measure teacher understanding and responses regarding material content and workshop effectiveness. Indicators of success in implementing scientific work publication workshops use 2 methods, namely: (1) evaluation during the activity process, and (2) evaluation after the workshop activity. Keywords: Scientific articles, writing, community service. ABSTRAKPengabdian pada masyarakat yang telah dilakukan adalah kegiatan workshop strategi publikasi karya ilmiah di jurnal ilmiah bagi guru di kota Singkawang. Tujuan kegiatan pengabdian ini yaitu: (1) memberikan materi mengenai pengetahuan dalam cara penulisan artikel ilmiah dan cara mempublikasikan artikel ilmiah di jurnal penelitian;         (2) memberikan pelatihan penulisan dan publikasi artikel ilmiah. Adapun fokus pada pengabdian ini yaitu memberikan informasi kepada guru agar memiliki pemahaman dalam menulis karya ilmiah yang baik dan benar baik di metode penelitian kuantitatif maupun kualitatif; memberikan materi tentang strategi menemukan jurnal ilmiah yang benar dan relevan agar diakui dalam penilaian jabatan fungsional guru; memberikan materi tentang cara mengirim naskah karya ilmiah pada jurnal ilmiah yang sudah didapatkan sampai naskah tersebut dinyatakan diterima (accepted) oleh editor. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan workshop publikasi karya ilmiah ini yaitu: 1) perencanaan; 2) pelaksanaan; dan 3) refleksi. Evaluasi kegiatan dilakukan melalui: 1) Tanya jawab. 2) Google form terkait kuesioner untuk mengukur pemahaman dan respon guru mengenai konten materi dan efektivitas workshop. Indikator keberhasilan dalam pelaksanaan workshop publikasi karya ilmiah menggunakan 2 metode, yaitu: (1) evaluasi selama proses kegiatan, dan (2) evaluasi pasca kegiatan workshop.Kata Kunci: Karya ilmiah, penulisan, pengabdian kepada masyarakat

Abstract

Abstract: The objectives of this research are (1) to describe the learning difficulties of students in terms of self-confidence in the subject of writing compositions in the fourth-grade curriculum; (2) to describe the factors contributing to learning difficulties in writing compositions among fourth-grade students. This research employs a qualitative descriptive method. The subjects of the study are students from class IV A at SDN 23 Singkawang. Data collection techniques in this research include tests, non-tests, and interviews. The data analysis technique used is the Miles and Huberman model, which consists of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study indicate that (1) learning difficulties in writing compositions, viewed from the perspective of student self-confidence, are as follows: (a) students with high self-confidence, some have been able to perform the indicators well, with an average score of 60 in the medium category; (b) students with medium self-confidence mostly experience difficulties in learning to write compositions, with an average self-confidence level of 41.6 in the low category; (c) students with low self-confidence experience learning difficulties, with an average score of 27.5 in the low category. (2) Factors influencing learning difficulties in writing compositions are (a) internal factors, including low learning outcomes and difficulty in composing sentences, mismatch between effort and results, attitudes during learning, and emotional symptoms; (b) external factors, including delays in completing assignments and deviant behavior during learning. Based on the analysis of learning difficulties in writing compositions from the perspective of self-confidence, it can be concluded that students experience significant learning difficulties, as evidenced by an average score of 35, falling into the low category, with 25 out of 28 students being in the low category.Keywords: Learning difficulties, Writing compositions, Self-confidence Abstrak: Tujuan penelitian ini adalah (1) untuk mendeskripsikan kesulitan belajar siswa ditinjau dari kepercayaan diri pada materi menulis karangan materi kelas IV; (2) untuk mendeskripsikan faktor kesulitan belajar pada materi menulis karangan siswa kelas IV. Metode penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas IV A SDN 23 Singkawang. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan  tes, non tes Dan wawancara . Teknik analisis data yang digunakan yaitu model Miles dan Huberman yang terdiri dari reduksi data, penyajian data, penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa, (1) kesulitan belajar menulis karangan yang ditinjau dari kepercayaan diri siswa yaitu (a) siswa dengan kepercayaan diri dengan kategori tinggi ada sebagian sudah mampu melaksanakan indikator dengan baik dan mempunyai rata-rata 60 dengan kriteria sedang (b) siswa dengan kepercayan diri  sedang hampir semua  mengalami kesulitan pada pembelajaran menulis karangan dan mempunyai tingkat kepercayaan diri dengan rata – rata 41,6 dengan kriteria Rendah (c) siswa dengan kepercayaan diri rendah mengalami kesulitan belajar dengan rata-rata 27,5 dengan kriteria rendah; (2) faktor yang mempengaruhi kesulitan belajar pada materi menulis karangan yaitu (a) faktor internal yaitu rendahnya hasil belajar siswa dan kesulitan menyusun kalimat, ketidaksesuaian usaha dan hasil, sikap selama pembelajaran dan gejala emosional,  (b) faktor eksternal yaitu keterlambatan dalam mengerjakan tugas, dan perilaku menyimpang selama pembelajaran. Berdasarkan hasil analisis kesulitan belajar menulis karangan siswa ditinjau dari kepercayaan diri dapat disimpulkan bahwa kesulitan belajar siswa mengalami kesulitan yang signifikan dilihat dari nilai rata – rata 35 berada pada kriteria rendah dengan jumlah siswa 25 dari 28 siswa berada kriteria rendah.Kata Kunci: Kesulitan Belajar, Menulis Karangan, Kepercayaan Diri

Abstract

The research aims to 1) describe student learning style profiles; 2) describe the profile of student learning independence in physics learning; 3) describe the tendencies of learning styles of SMPN student in Singkawang City in terms of learning independence in physics learning. This type of research is survey research using descriptive data analysis techniques where research data will be displayed  using pie charts and tables. Respondents in this study were taken using a cluster sampling technique from the entire population, which is all syate junior high school students in Singkawang City. The data collection technique used in this research uses a questionnaire, namely a questionnaire on student learning style tendencies and a questionnaire on learning independence in physics learning. The research results show that the combination of multimodal learning style (65%) dominates unimodal learning style (35%). Based on the type learning style, it shows that 1 in 3 respondents have the VARK learning style, which makes it the most dominant type. The distribution of learning independence data forms a bell curve indicating that the data distribution tends to be normal. Analysis of learning style data in terms of the learning independence category shows that there is tendency for the VARK learning style type to be dominant in each category.

Abstract

This study is a survey study conducted because of the different tendencies between male and female students. In addition, there has been no study that specifically examines each SPS indicator of male and female students with the aim of showing weaknesses and strengths between them based on the SPS indicators. Based on this statement, this study aims to describe and compare the profiles of basic science process skills of male and female students. This study uses tests as instruments and quota sampling techniques to select grade X students from State Senior High Schools in Singkawang. Data were analyzed using a combination of quantitative descriptive analysis and comparative statistical tests. The results of the study showed that overall, most of the basic science process skill indicators were in the 'moderate' category for both genders. However, the communication indicator stood out in the 'high' category. Female students had an advantage in basic science process skills compared to male students, although both genders showed the same weaknesses. On the other hand, male students were only superior to female students in the measurement indicator.

Abstract

The Joyful Learning method is one of the teaching methods considered enjoyable for students. This method is assumed to be more effective in increasing students' learning interest compared to the direct instruction method. Therefore, this study aims to examine whether there is a difference in the average level of students’ learning interest between those taught using the Joyful Learning method and those taught using direct instruction, as well as to measure the effect size of the method on learning interest. This study employed a Quasi-Experimental Design approach. The sample consisted of 30 fifth-grade students from class V B, which served as the experimental group. The sampling technique used in this study was saturated sampling. Data were collected using a student learning interest questionnaire. The data analysis techniques used were the independent sample t-test and Effect Size. The results of the study indicate that: (1) Based on the independent sample t-test, the result shows a t-value of 4.762, which is greater than the t-table value of 2.0017 (4.762 > 2.0017), thus Hₐ is accepted and Hₒ is rejected. This indicates a significant difference in the average learning interest in IPAS (Social Sciences) between the class using the Joyful Learning method assisted by audio-visual media and the class using direct instruction. (2) The Effect Size value was found to be 1.3, which falls under the "very large effect" category. Therefore, it can be concluded that the Joyful Learning method assisted by audio-visual media has a significant impact on the learning interest of fifth-grade students at SD Negeri 5 Singkawang.

Abstract

Perkembangan teknologi menuntut guru sekolah dasar untuk dapat menguasai penggunaan aplikasi yang mendukungnya dalam pembelajaran. Aplikasi Canva dapat dimanfaatkan dalam pembuatan media pembelajaran. Permasalahan yang ditemukan adalah masih terdapat guru yang belum menguasai aplikasi Canva dalam membuat media pembelajaran yang menarik dan interaktif. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan hasil kegiatan pelatihan penggunaan aplikasi Canva Guru Sekolah Dasar Negeri 92 Singkawang Utara, Provinsi Kalimantan Barat melalui pembuatan media pembelajaran IPA berbasis STEAM. Metode yang digunakan berupa presentasi, diskusi, demonstrasi, dan praktik penggunaan aplikasi Canva dengan pendampingan. Presentasi berupa penyampaian materi tentang manfaat penggunaan aplikasi Canva dalam pembelajaran IPA yang dikaitkan dengan STEAM bagi guru sekolah dasar. Diskusi berupa tanya jawab. Demonstrasi dengan video tutorial, dan penjelasan langsung. Praktik dilakukan guru secara berkelompok didampingi instruktur. Guru diberikan tantangan menghasilkan media pembelajaran IPA yang dikaitkan dengan STEAM berbantuan aplikasi Canva. Hasil pengabdian ini menunjukkan bahwa masih terdapat guru yang baru mengenal aplikasi Canva, guru yang baru memahami penggunaan aplikasi Canva, dan guru memiliki kreativitas yang sangat baik. Urutan indikator kinerja pelatihan ini sesuai hasil pengamatan dari persentase besar ke kecil, yaitu gagasan, partisipan, kedisiplinan, dan kerja sama. Kegiatan ini memberikan dampak yang positif bagi peserta pelatihan. Diharapkan dapat diterapkan bagi guru di seluruh sekolah dasar Kota Singkawang untuk meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran melalui pembuatan media pembelajaran yang inovatif melalui penggunaan aplikasi Canva.

Abstract

This study aims to determines: 1) theim provement of students' understanding of mathematical concepts through the coope rativelearning model of the make a match type using props Panjurang aids on addition and subtraction materials; 2) students' responses during learning with the cooperative learning model of the make a match type using Panjurang teaching aids on addition and subtraction. There search design used in this study is one group pre -test post-test design. The sampling technique used in this study was nonprobability sampling with the purposive sampling type . The data collection instruments used were students' mathematical concept understanding question sheets and student response questionnaire sheets. There sults of the study showed that 1) there was anincrea sein understanding of mathematical concepts through the use of the make a match type cooperative model accompanied by the use of props Panjurang aids in grade II students at SDN Negeri 8 Singkawang, namely with an N-Gain valueof 0.90. 2) student responses through the make a match type cooperative learning model using props Panjurang aids on addition material were classified as very good, this was indicate d by the overall results of thepercentage of student respondent questionnaires of 93.

Abstract

This study aims to 1) find out the difference in the science learning outcomes of fifth grade students in SDN 11 Singkawang before and after the used of the Problem Based Learning model assisted by Question Card; 2) find out the magnitude of the influence of learning outcomes of fifth grade students in SDN 11 Singkawang used Problem Based Learning assisted by Question Card. This study is a quantitative research with a one group pretest-posttest design. The sample used in this study was 22 students. The sampling technique used is the saturated sample technique. The results of the data analysis concluded that the prerequisite test used was a normality test used the shapiro wilk formula obtained by using a test, the data of this study was discontinuous normally with a P-value of 0.911 and a T-count of 0.913 for the pretest questions and a P-value of 0.911 and a T-count of 0.926 for the posttest questions. The results of the data analysis show that there is 1) a significant difference between the pretest and the posttest. This can be seen in the results of the paired t-test which shows that the t-count > t-table is 4.69 > 2.08. 2) the magnitude of the influence of learning outcomes with an effect size value of 3.73. Thus, the Problem Based Learning model assisted by Question Card has been proven to have an effect on student learning outcomes compared to the conventional model.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the level of students’ speaking skills in the Gembira Dong program at SDN 94 Singkawang. The research employed a quantitative approach with a descriptive design. Data were collected through a speaking test administered to 28 representative students and analyzed descriptively. The results showed that the speaking skills of fourth-grade students at SDN 94 Singkawang were generally in the good category across all assessed aspects. The percentage scores for each aspect were as follows: pronunciation 66%, intonation 65%, fluency 67%, language use and content 79%, and expression 66%. The overall average score across these five aspects was 69%, indicating a good level of speaking proficiency. Therefore, it can be concluded that the students’ speaking skills in the Gembira Dong program at SDN 94 Singkawang are categorized as good.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of the scientific learning approach assisted by a smart box media on fifth-grade students’ IPAS learning outcomes in the topic Harmony in Ecosystems at SDN 10 Singkawang. The research employed a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental design, specifically a nonequivalent control group design. The population consisted of all fifth-grade students at SDN 10 Singkawang, with total sampling used to determine the sample. The results of the study show that: (1) there was a significant difference in IPAS learning outcomes between the experimental and control classes, as indicated by the t-test result where tcount (2.6909) > ttable (2.0105); and (2) the scientific learning approach assisted by smart box media had a moderate effect on students’ learning outcomes with an effect size of 0.71. Therefore, it can be concluded that the scientific learning approach assisted by smart box media has a significant and positive impact on the IPAS learning outcomes of fifth-grade students at SDN 10 Singkawang.
