Abstract

The 2024 election has become Indonesia’s political agenda to carry out elite circulation in a timely manner, but the political party elite threw out the idea of postponing these activities. Therefore, this study aims to explain the political motive of party elites and responses on Twitter about the idea of postponing the 2024 Indonesian elections. This study uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. This study also uses NVivo 12 Plus software as a data analysis tool. The findings in this study are that the political motives of Muhaimin Iskandar, Zulkifli Hasan and Airlangga Hartarto in raising the idea of postponing the 2024 election tend to be material-intensive motives. Meanwhile, the content and narrative of Twitter netizen responses tend to lead to rejection of the idea of postponing the 2024 election. Twitter netizens prefer the 2024 elections to be held according to a predetermined schedule. The conclusion in this study is that the idea of postponing elections, which is dominated by the private interests of the elite, is not responded positively by the public. This has implications for the emergence of public distrust of private elites and their political parties.

Abstract

The National Mandate Party (PAN) is the largest Islamic party that supports legislative candidates from among artists. Therefore, this study aims to explain PAN’s political motives in supporting legislative candidates from among artists for the 2024 elections. This research used a qualitative method with a case study approach. The findings explained that the political motives of material incentives and solidarity dominated PAN’s political recruitment. The material incentive motive is that artist candidates are used as a voter-getter strategy based on their financial strength and popularity. Then, the solidarity incentive political motive tends to be related to emotional and moral relationships. On the emotional side, PAN believes in supporting artist candidates again because it reflects their significant contribution to the party’s internal and parliamentary elections. Meanwhile, from the moral side, PAN has a specific goal to convey to the public that the party has an inclusive principle for all groups. It contradicts the Islamic religious identity attached to PAN, which is not specifically shown in nominating legislative candidates for the 2024 elections.

The purpose of this study is to explain the discourse in online media related to the implementation of Sirekap in the 2024 elections. This research uses a qualitative method with a case study approach. The findings in this study explain that there are four crucial issues in the news in online media related to the problem of using Sirekap by the KPU in the 2024 elections, namely photo converstion errors of vote counting result documents, KPPS officers have difficulty accessing, application security and alleged election fraud. From the perspective of online media coverage, Tempo.co Kompas.com and Detiknews.com were found to be massively reporting on KPPS officers having difficulty accessing. Meanwhile, CNNIndonesia online media has two dominant issues in its news, namely the problem of KPSS having difficulty accessing the Sirekap application and alleged election fraud. Furthermore, conversations in online media are still very dominant in discussing election results in the context of the vote data entered in Sirekap and the performance of the KPU and KPPS. Then, the network of actors discussed in the online media is the KPU and Bawaslu as election organizers. Abstract

This research aims to explain the political recruitment process of the Perindo Party in endorsing legislative candidates with the family backgrounds of its general chairman. This research uses a qualitative method with a case study approach. The results showed that the Perindo Party normatively implemented a more innovative political recruitment process for the 2024 legislative elections by involving public participation and technology. However, in this idealized process, a phenomenon of family politics occurs. The family of the chairman of the Perindo Party did not go through the entire recruitment process because they have strong ties to the party elite who have decision-making power. The chairman's family jumped straight to the nomination stage to be nominated by the Perindo Party. The mechanism is also directly through appointment rather than e-voting as cadres and the general public must go through the title of the people's convention. Therefore, the political recruitment of the Perindo party for the 2024 legislative elections has a gap in the process for the chairman's family because it does not apply the principles of openness and fairness. This has implications for the lousy party institutionalization trend in political recruitment.

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyze the failure of the PPP in the 2024 elections using the perspective of political party institutionalization. This research uses a qualitative method with a case study approach. The data collection technique in this research is a literature study. The findings of this study explain that PPP's failure to qualify for parliament in the 2024 elections is dominated by its very poor institutionalization factor. On the root of society indicator, the PPP failed in two ways, namely the party elite's poor psychological reading of its voter base and its slowness in understanding the importance of transforming internal changes, which resulted in a significantly underdeveloped social mass base. Then, the autonomy indicator explains that PPP does not fully have autonomy in making decisions regarding the nomination of candidates for the 2024 elections. On the Level of organization indicator, PPP also experienced a very acute and prolonged management conflict problem. This has made PPP's image in the community very bad. Finally, the coherence indicator shows that PPP is weak in consolidating cadres and sympathizers, which has an impact on the lack of solidarity in following the decisions taken by the party for the 2024 elections.
