Abstract

This comprehensive study delves into the multifaceted implications of Indonesia's proposed 40-75 percent entertainment tax hike, shedding light on the intricate social and economic landscape it unveils. Focusing on sectors like spas, bars, nightclubs, and karaoke joints, the proposed tax has elicited significant opposition from businesses and workers, triggering concerns about its impact on Indonesia's society. From an economic perspective, spa owners, particularly in Bali, have contested the tax increase, emphasizing potential job losses and economic fallout beyond business owners. The study reveals the profound social implications, emphasizing the threat to financial stability for individuals like Murniyati, a taxi driver dependent on the entertainment sector. Government responsiveness to these concerns, as indicated by a delayed tax hike pending evaluation, reflects a commitment to holistic assessment. Situating the tax within Indonesia's economic policies, the study calls for a balanced approach that considers the interdependencies within the entertainment sector. A legal perspective highlights court challenges, adding a layer of uncertainty for businesses. Regional and demographic differentials, global economic considerations, cultural dimensions, and digital discourse are explored, offering a comprehensive understanding. In exploring societal ramifications, the study considers entertainment services' cultural and social value, emphasizing the need for policies to preserve cultural diversity. The economic landscape is examined for potential ripple effects on employment, and alternative fiscal measures are proposed for a balanced approach. Historical contexts and fairness assessments contribute to a forward- looking perspective.

Abstract

In the era of advanced digitalization, the ability of SMEs to adapt and adopt e-business innovation is a key factor to survive and compete in the global market. This study aims to determine the effect of e-business innovation in improving the resilience of SMEs and explore the extent to which financial literacy moderates the relationship between the adoption of e-business innovation and SME resilience. This research was conducted in the printing sector of Malang City, Indonesia, which has around 2,145 printing SMEs based on data from the Malang City Cooperative Office in 2023. The research method uses a quantitative approach with a Structural Equation Model (SEM) assisted by the Smart PLS application. The sampling technique used purposive sampling with a sample of 100 SMEs selected based on criteria such as business size, level of e-business technology adoption, and financial literacy. The results showed that the variables studied had a significant and positive effect so that it was accepted. In addition, strong financial literacy can strengthen the relationship between e-business innovation and SME resilience. These findings underscore the importance of improving financial literacy among SMEs as part of the strategy to maximize the benefits of ebusiness innovation in improving SMEs' business resilience.

Abstract

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) play a crucial role in supporting economic growth, employment creation, and poverty reduction in developing countries. Despite their importance, the rapidly growing body of literature on MSMEs has produced a fragmented research landscape that requires systematic mapping to understand its development and emerging directions. This study aims to analyze the landscape of MSME research in developing countries using a bibliometric approach. Data were collected from the Scopus database and analyzed using bibliometric techniques and visualization tools, particularly VOSviewer, to identify publication trends, collaboration networks, and dominant research themes. The results reveal that MSME research has developed into a multidisciplinary field connecting themes such as entrepreneurship, innovation, financial inclusion, sustainability, and digital transformation. Collaboration network analysis shows that several authors and institutions act as key connectors in the research network, while countries such as India and Indonesia emerge as major contributors to global MSME research. Keyword co-occurrence and overlay analyses indicate that earlier studies primarily focused on entrepreneurship and innovation, whereas more recent research emphasizes digital transformation, technology adoption, and sustainable development goals. These findings demonstrate that MSME research is evolving toward addressing contemporary challenges related to digitalization and sustainable economic development. This study provides a comprehensive overview of the intellectual structure and development trends of MSME research and offers insights for future research directions in the field.
