Abstract

The meaning of colors has been widely researched in various disciplines. In design, understanding the contextual meaning of color influences design decisions and, hence, is important design information. This research aimed to compile information about the meaning of colors that can be used as design information in design tools so that users can choose the right color palette. This research used a qualitative approach by conducting a contextual document review of reference books about color. Data collection was carried out by identifying relevant data regarding the meaning of colors. The data collected included color association, positive-negative meanings, and cultural links. Although the information derived from these three sources varied in terms of information themes, we could observe some consistent meanings shared by the sources. This research output can be implemented as design information in design tools such as web-based color palette generation applications, graphic design tools and others. It is hoped that the results of this research can provide comprehensive guidance in choosing an appropriate color palette based on the meaning of the colors contained.

Improper waste management results in environmental contamination, affecting land, water, and air quality. This contamination fosters disease-spreading animals like rats, cockroaches, and mosquitoes. Indonesia ranks as the world9s second-largest plastic wastecontributor, generating 14.96 million tons annually with 6.8 million tons unprocessed due to lowawareness and weak regulations. The habit of littering of adults can be passed onto theirchildren, highlighting the importance of teaching waste management to young children forenvironmental care and discipline. This research aims to raise awareness using qualitative andquantitative data to produce an educational illustration book to instil waste managementprinciples in children and shape their character. Abstract

It is the obligation of Muslims in Islam to study, read and understand the holy book of the Al-Quran, in order to fulfill the obligation to read to be able to understand the Al-Quran, and of course, we must learn and understand the language used in the Al-Quran, namely Arabic with the alphabetical itself named as Hijaiyah letters. Indonesia has been using the method of learning Hijaiyah letters with the Iqro method created by KH As'ad Humam for a long time, this method uses a module book. However, this learning media Iqro method is a classic one, in which the book contains the Hijaiyah letters in the form of black and white colors only. In this case, learning with the Iqro book is boring for children, reinforced by the results of observations and interviews that preschool-age children (3-5 years) are often bored with this classical method because Iqro is less interesting for them. Moreover, the learning styles of these children are different, some are more suitable with listening methods, some with visuals, some with interactive methods, and others. Therefore, a more interesting and engaging learning media for Hijaiyah letters is needed, which aims to fulfill the obligations of a Muslim and increase knowledge.
