Abstract

THE EFFECT OF MULTIVITAMIN MINERAL SUPPLEMENTATION ON NUTRITIONAL STATUS AND HEALTHUse of multivitamin mineral (MVM) supplement has grown rapidly over the past several decades.According to several studies, supplement users tend to have higher micronutrient intakes from theirdiet than nonusers. Consequently, they have an increased intake but are also more likely to exceedthe upper level. The study was aimed to analyze the effect of MVM supplementation on renal functionthrough the double blind randomized controlled trial. Subjects were 93 of the female workers in PTRicky Putra Globalindo Tbk, Citeureup, Bogor who were randomly allocated to three treatments. Thefirst received only placebo (without vitamin C and MVM); the second received 1000 mg vitamin C; andthe third received MVM supplement that contains 1000 mg vitamin C, 45 mg vitamin E, 700 µg vitaminA, 6,5 mg vitamin B6, 400 µg folic acid, 9,6 µg vitamin B12, 10 µg vitamin D, 10 mg Zn, 110 µg Se, 0,9mg Cu, and 5 mg Fe. The supplements were distributed and consumed daily during 10 weeks. Themean change before and after study were tested with t paired test. The results showed the BMI,systolic and diastolic blood pressure, urea and creatinine blood serum were not significantly differentbefore and after study (p>0,05). The distribution of female workers based on BMI showed that morethan half of them have normal nutritional status (BMI 18,5-24,9 kg/m2). The distribution based onsystolic and diastolic blood pressure showed that most of them were not hypertension (systolic <140mmHg, diastolic <90 mmHg); and the distribution based on urea and creatinine showed that most ofthem have normal status (urea 8,0-25,0 mg/dl; creatinine 0,6-1,5 mg/dl).Keywords: food supplement, BMI, blood pressure, urea, creatinine.

Abstract

Wilayah Pulau Lombok yang terletak di Provinsi Nusa Tengara Barat mengalami goncangan gempa 6,4 SR pada tanggal 29 Juli 2018. Dari 5 kabupaten/kota yang ada di Pulau Lombok, kerusakan terbesar dialami oleh masyarakat di Kabupaten Lombok Timur. Kerusakan tersebut ditambah dengan gempa susulan 7.0 SR pada tanggal 5 Agustus 2018. Gempa kembali menghantam masyarakat wilayah Lombok namun kerusakan terbesar dialami oleh masyarakat di Kabupaten Lombok Utara. Masyarakat di Kabupaten Lombok Barat, Kabupaten Lombok Tengah dan Kota Mataram pun terkena dampaknya. Gempa 6,2 SR selanjutnya menghantam kembali pada tanggal 9 Agustus 2018. Serangkaian goncangan tersebut merupakan goncangan yang berat bagi warga terdampak karena tidak hanya korban jiwa, bencana gempa seringkali mengakibatkan banyak korban luka-luka, mengungsi, serta merusak bangunan rumah dan fasilitas umum termasuk fasilisitas ibadah, perkantoran, jalan dan pelayanan kesehatan. Masalah yang sering kali luput dari perhatian ialah kecukupan gizi bagi penyintas bencana. Penurunan status gizi pasca bencana dapat terjadi akibat layanan kesehatan terbatas, terputusnya jalur distribusi makanan serta sanitasi yang buruk (Kementrian Kesehatan RI, 2012). Kebutuhan layanan kesehatan dan pangan jelas akan meningkat pada daerah pasca bencana. Untuk itu manajemen penanggulangan untuk pemenuhan status gizi penyintas bencana perlu menjadi perhatian semua pihak terutama kebutuhan nutrisi bayi, balita, anak-anak, ibu hamil serta lansia yang rentan terserang penyakit pasca bencana (Tumenggung, 2017).Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji efektifitas penanggulangan gizi balita pasca bencana gempa bumi di Desa Dasan Geria Kecamatan Lingsar Kabupaten Lombok Barat. Desain penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif, dimana peneliti sebagai instrumen kunci. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan secara triangulasi (gabungan). Metode pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah wawancara mendalam, observasi dan studi dokumen pada 10 orang informan utama dan 10 orang informan pendukung. Análisis data bersifat induktif/kualitatif dan hasil penelitian lebih menekankan makna daripada generalisasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kegiatan gizi pra bencana belum terlaksana dengan baik karena belum adanya data awal wilayah yang rawan terkena gempa serta belum terlaksananya sosialisasi dan pelatihan petugas untuk penanganan gizi balita. Demikian pula dengan ketersediaan makanan untuk balita baik dari segi jenis, kuantitas maupun kualitas belum memenuhi standar Angka Kecukupan Gizi yang dianjurkan. Sementara itu, kegiatan gizi pasca bencana berupa pemantauan dan evaluasi telah dilaksanakan dengan tujuan untuk meningkatkan dan mempertahankan status gizi dan kesehatan balita korban bencana

Abstract

Pada penelitian ini dilakukan pengujian karakteristik sifat fisik berupa nilai pH dan viskositas serta sifat organoleptik berupa rasa dan warna pada sirup asam (Tamarindus indica Linn.) yang ditambahkan enam perlakuan konsentrasi gula. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan konsentrasi gula yang tepat dalam menghasilkan sirup asam dengan kualitas terbaik dan diharapkan dapat memperbanyak variasi produk olahan yang dihasilkan dari buah asam. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode eksperimental. Rancangan yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan faktor tunggal konsentrasi gula menggunakan enam perlakuan dengan tiga kali ulangan sehingga dihasilkan 18 unit percobaan. Hasil pengamatan selanjutnya dianalisis menggunakan analisis keragaman (ANOVA) pada taraf nyata 5%, bila terdapat beda nyata maka diuji lanjut menggunakan Uji Beda Nyata Jujur (BNJ) pada taraf nyata yang sama. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penambahan berbagai konsentrasi gula memberikan pengaruh yang nyata terhadap nilai pH, viskositas, rasa dan warna. Dari penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa semakin tinggi penambahan konsentrasi gula maka semakin tinggi pula nilai pH dan viskositas. Dan berdasarkan hasil uji organoleptik, sirup asam yang lebih disukai oleh panelis adalah sirup dengan penambahan konsentrasi gula 160 dan 180% dengan warna coklat.

Abstract

Pada penelitian ini telah dilakukan kajian terhadap perilaku higiene penjamah makanan berdasarkan pengetahuan tentang higiene di kantin SDN 3 Kekait Kecamatan Gunung Sari Kabupaten Lombok Barat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perilaku higiene penjamah makanan berdasarkan pengetahuan tentang higiene di kantin SDN 3 Kekait. Penelitian initermasuk jenisdeskriptifdengan desain cross sectional. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tidak ada hubungan antara pengetahuan dengan perilaku dimana pengetahuan higiene penjamah makanan baik yaitu (100%) sedangkan perilaku higiene penjamah makanan kurang baik yaitu (33,3%). Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah tingginya pengetahuan tentang higiene tidak diikuti oleh perilaku higiene yang baik

Abstract

The Province of West Nusa Tenggara Province (NTB) is known as a source of beef cattle in eastern Indonesia. The use of antibiotics in animal foods can threaten health and cause antibiotic resistance to the normal flora of the animal and humans. One of the causes of antibiotic resistance is extended spectrum β-lactamase (ESBL). The purpose of the study was to detect the prevalence of ESBL-producing Enterobacteriaceae in beef cattle sold in the central Lombok animal market. The faecal samples were collected from beef cattle to 65. Cultured on MacConkey agar supplemented with cefotaxim 1 mg/L, incubated at 37oC for 24 hours. Then the growing colony were tested for ESBL producer by Double Disk Synergy Test (DDST). Identify the type of bacteria by biochemical testing. Identify the type of bacteria by biochemical testing and gram staining. Results: identified showed 1 (1.5%) sample of ESBL positive beef cattle the faecal samples with Escherichia coli bacteria (100%). Through feces, resistant bacteria contained in animal faecal can migrate to the environment and cross-transmission of genetic material between bacteria through water, soil, air, plants, food, humans and food-producing animals.

Abstract

Abstrak: Anemia defisiensi besi diperkirakan menjadi satu-satunya penyebab terbesar kesakitan dan kematian pada remaja. Anemia yang terjadi dapat menyebabkan menurunnya kesehatan reproduksi, perkembangan motorik, mental, kecerdasan terhambat, menurunnya prestasi belajar, tingkat kebugaran menurun dan tidak tercapainya tinggi badan maksimal. Hasil wawancara dengan kepala puskesmas penimbung serta kader desa penimbung didapatkan data bahwa masalah yang dihadapi mitra saat ini adalah belum teridentifikasinya kasus anemia pada remaja putri karena belum pernah dilakukan pemeriksaan screening Hb yang diketahui efektif mengidentifikasi kejadian anemia remaja putri. Solusi permasalahan yang dilakukan adalah screening Hemoglobin untuk meningkatkan kesadaran remaja tentang pentingnya anemia serta faktor yang mempengaruhinya. Kegiatan screening anemia dimulai dengan registrasi peserta screening sebanyak 50 remaja putri, dilanjutkan dengan pemeriksaan TB dan BB, Pemeriksaan Hb dan wawancara food recall 24 jam. Hasil kegiatan didapatkan bahwa semua remaja putri (100 %) di dusun penimbung timur mengikuti kegiatan screening, 11 diantaranya mengalami anemia dan sebanyak 44 remaja berstatus gizi kurus. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat selanjutnya berfokus pada pemberdayaan keluarga dengan anemia remaja untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan ketrampilan diet remaja.Abstract: Iron deficiency anemia is thought to be the single biggest cause of morbidity and mortality in adolescents. Anemia that occurs can cause a decrease in reproductive health, motoric development, mental development, inhibited intelligence, decreased learning achievement, decreased fitness levels and not achieving maximum height. The results of interviews with the head of the penimbung health center and penimbung village cadres obtained data that the problem faced by partners at this time was that there had not been identified cases of anemia in young women, because there had never been an Hb screening examination that was known to be effective in identifying the incidence of anemia in young women. The solution to the problem is hemoglobin screening to increase adolescent awareness about the importance of anemia and the factors that affect it for young women in east penimbung hamlet. The anemia screening activity began with the registration of screening participants as many as 50 young women, the activity continued with height and weight examinations, Hb examinations and 24-hour food recall interviews. It was found that all young women (100%) in east penimbung hamlet participated in screening activities, 11 of them had anemia and as many as 44 adolescents had thin nutritional status. Further community service activities focus on empowering families with adolescent anemia to improve adolescent dietary knowledge and skills.

Abstract

Nutrition education and training on healthy food processing made from local food is one of the efforts to increase knowledge and improve mother's behavior in processing healthy foods that are diverse, nutritious and balanced and safe for toddlers to consume. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of nutrition education and training on healthy food processing made from local food on mother's knowledge and behavior in feeding toddlers. The method used in this study is a quasi-experimental with non-equivalent control group design. The sample in this study was 60 mothers of children under five who were divided into 2 groups, namely the control group and the intervention group.

Abstract

Introduction: The rapid advancement in technology and information has significantly transformed the field of communication technology. Today, many parents intentionally give gadgets to their children, believing that these devices can serve as a distraction to keep children calm while they are at work, and to make them feel comfortable at home. However, when gadget usage is uncontrolled and used merely as a distraction tool, it may impact children's behavior and nutritional status. Objectives: This study aims to explore the effects of gadget usage habits, parenting styles, and dietary patterns on the nutritional status of children aged 4-7 years. Methods: This research uses a descriptive observational design with a cross-sectional approach. The study population includes children aged 4-7 years who use gadgets, with a total sample size of 55 children. Data analysis was carried out using the Chi-Square Test. Results: The findings show a significant influence of the three variables—gadget usage, dietary patterns, and parenting style—on the nutritional status of children, with a p-value of 0.00, which is less than 0.05. It can be concluded that gadget usage, parenting style, and dietary patterns significantly affect the nutritional status of children aged 4-7 years. Conclusions: There is a noticeable impact of gadget usage habits, parenting styles, and dietary patterns on the nutritional status of children aged 4-7 years.
