Abstract

To determine the effect of psychospiritual intervention in the form of dhikr therapy on the quality of life of patients undergoing hemodialysis therapy. This study used a pre-experimental quantitative design with a one group pretest-posttest approach. The sample consisted of patients with CKD who met the inclusion criteria and underwent routine hemodialysis therapy. The intervention in the form of dhikr therapy was given within a certain period. The data collection instrument used the WHOQOL-BREF questionnaire. Data analysis was performed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. There was an increase in quality of life scores in patients after being given dhikr therapy. The statistical test results show a significance value of p < 0.05, which indicates a significant effect of psychospiritual therapy on the patient's quality of life.Dhikr therapy as a form of psychospiritual intervention is proven to improve the quality of life of hemodialysis patients. Therefore, this intervention is recommended as a complementary approach in nursing practice to improve patient well-being.

Abstract

Background: Reintubation of patients in the ICU due to respiratory failure is a serious problem in medical world. Supportive therapy is needed for breathing exercises to prevent reintubation due to respiratory muscle weakness. Objective: Aims to analyze effectiveness of deep breathing exercise and Incentive spirometry on oxygen saturation and peak expiratory flow rate inextubated patients. Methods: A quantitative, quasi-experimental design with 33 respondents (11 in the deep breathing group, 11 in the incentive spirometry group, and 11 in the combined deep breathing and incentive spirometry group), recruited through purposive sampling. The independent variable was the combination of Deep Breathing and Incentive Spirometry, implemented according to the module guidelines. The dependent variables were oxygen saturation, measured by pulse oximetry, and peak expiratory flow rate, measured by a peak flow meter. Data were analyzed using a paired sample t-test. Results: Deep breathing exercises and incentive spirometry showed a significant effect on oxygen saturation, as shown in the combined results (p = 0.000; Delta = 4.55). Peak expiratory flow rate also showed significant deep breathing exercise and incentive spirometry interventions, with the most significance value in the combination intervention (p = 0.000; Delta = 130.27). Conclusion: The combination of deep breathing exercises and incentive spirometry interventions showed greater effectiveness, suggesting it may be a supportive intervention for post-extubation patients.

Abstract

Introduction: The 2021 eruption of Mount Semeru caused severe damage and forced the affected residents to be permanently relocated to residential areas. Although relocation improves physical safety, relocated communities continue to face psychological, social, and economic challenges that may affect their well-being. Resilience is recognized as a key factor supporting adaptation after disasters; however, evidence on its association with quality of life in long-term relocation settings remains limited. This study aims to determine the relationship between resilience and quality of life in adults relocated to residential areas.   Method: Analytic correlational study with a cross-sectional design was conducted in January 2024 in Mount Semeru Relocation area. A total of 111 respondents were recruited using purposive sampling, with eligibility based on age (>18 years), residency duration (≥6 months), disaster exposure, literacy, and willingness to participate. Resilience was measured using the Connor–Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC), while quality of life was assessed using the WHOQOL-BREF. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Spearman’s rho correlation.   Result: Most respondents demonstrated moderate resilience, and more than half reported good quality of life. Statistical analysis revealed a significant positive association between resilience and quality of life (r = 0.337; p < 0.001), indicating that individuals with higher resilience tend to experience better physical, psychological, social, and environmental well-being in the resettlement setting.   Conclusion: Resilience is an important determinant of quality of life among communities permanently relocated after the Mount Semeru eruption. Efforts to strengthen psychosocial support, enhance livelihood recovery, and foster social cohesion are essential to improve long-term adaptation and well-being in post-disaster relocation environments.   Keywords: Mount Semeru Eruption, Quality of Life, Relocation, Resilience
