Abstract

One of the problems in the cultivation of K. alvarezii seaweed is that the seeds come from the results of previous cultivation which is used repeatedly and continuously so that the quality of seeds decreases. Efforts to increase seaweed production are using superior seeds, namely seedlings from tissue culture. Therefore, a multi-site test of tissue culture seaweed seedlings was conducted in Maluku Tengara Regency (Evu Village) and Tual City (Fiditan Village) to determine growth rate, gel strength and viscosity. The study involved planting tissue culture and local seaweed seedlings using the longline method in both locations for 45 days. Wet weight samples were measured every 15 days, and at the end of rearing, seaweed was harvested and dried to test gel strength and viscosity. The results of data analysis showed that the growth rate of tissue culture seaweed seedlings was better in both locations, the highest value at the location of Fiditan Village, Tual City at 5.61%/day. Likewise, the gel strength and viscosity of seaweed K. Alvarezii tissue culture seeds are higher than local seeds, where the highest gel strength is obtained in the waters of Evu Village, Southeast Maluku Regency, namely 165.5 g/cm2, while the highest viscosity is obtained in the waters of Fiditan Village, Tual City, namely 136.05 cP. So it is concluded that tissue culture seaweed seeds produced by the Marine Aquaculture Center Ambon are better than local seeds. ABSTRAK Salah satu permasalahan dalam budidaya rumput laut K. alvarezii adalah bibit berasal dari hasil budidaya sebelumnya yang digunakan secara berulang dan terus menerus sehingga kualitas bibit menurun. Upaya untuk meningkatkan produksi rumput laut adalah menggunakan bibit unggul yaitu bibit hasil kultur jaringan. Oleh karena itu, dilakukan uji multi lokasi bibit rumput laut kultur jaringan di Kabupaten Maluku Tengara (Desa Evu) dan Kota Tual (Desa Fiditan) untuk mengetahui laju pertumbuhan, kekuatan gel dan viskositas. Penelitian ini mencakup penanaman bibit rumput laut kultur jaringan dan lokal dengan metode longline di kedua lokasi selama 45 hari. Sampel berat basah diukur setiap 15 hari, dan diakhir pemeliharaan dilakukan panen rumput laut untuk dikeringkan sebagai bahan uji kekuatan gel dan viskositas. Hasil analisis data menunjukan bahwa laju pertumbuhan bibit rumput laut kultur jaringan lebih baik di kedua lokasi, nilai tertinggi di lokasi Desa Fiditan Kota Tual sebesar 5,61 %/hari. Begitu juga dengan Kekuatan gel dan viskositas rumput laut K. Alvarezii bibit kultur jaringan lebih tinggi dibandingkan bibit lokal, yang mana kekuatan gel tertinggi diperoleh di Perairan Desa Evu Kabupaten Maluku Tenggara yaitu 165,5 g/cm2, sedangkan Viskositas tertinggi diperoleh di perairan Desa Fiditan Kota Tual yaitu, 136,05 cP. Sehingga disimpulkan bibit rumput laut kultur jaringan hasil produksi Balai Perikanan Budidaya Laut Ambon lebih baik di bandingkan dengan bibit lokal setempat. Abstract

Aquaculture in Indonesia has become a community endeavor because it can help increase sources of income. Seaweed is one of the biota that can be cultivated which is often known as seaweed and then used as a business for coastal communities. The potential for the development of aquaculture areas in Wael Hamlet can be seen with community activities almost entirely as seaweed farmers. The success of seaweed farming is determined by the right cultivation methods, good environmental quality, and management of activities to increase productivity. The purpose of community service is to know the process of seaweed cultivation activities to develop the potential of coastal community cultivation in Wael Hamlet. The activity took place in August 2023 in Wael Hamlet, West Seram Regency. This activity was carried out using the question and answer method of the Community Service team from the Aquaculture Study Program to the seaweed cultivation group in Wael Hamlet. With the stages of activity preparation and activity implementation. The result of the activity is that the activity of utilizing the potential of fishery resources in Wael Hamlet is more towards cultivation and focuses on seaweed cultivation with the type of seaweed developed, namely eucheuma cottonii. The cultivation method used in Wael Hamlet is long line. The cultivation business has been carried out since 2004 and until now. Government assistance has been provided to aquaculture business groups. Where the length of seaweed rearing can reach 45 days. Almost 99% of the people in Wael hamlet are seaweed farmers, showing that this business is very helpful for the community. The conclusion of the community service activities is that the business of seaweed cultivation activities starts from the selection of seeds to the production process.

Abstract

Kota Ambon yang berada di wilayah pesisir dikelilingi oleh perairan laut dan diantaranya Desa Poka. Wilayah Desa Poka berada pada Teluk Ambon Bagian Dalam. Sehingga banyak masyarakat memanfaatkan perairan teluk ini sebagai tempat usaha budidaya laut. Air merupakan media hidup untuk organisme budidaya sehingga kondisi air harus dijaga dan dikelola secara baik agar layak digunakan untuk kehidupan biota. Masalah yang sering terjadi di perairan pesisir yaitu tingginya pencemaran akan berdampak pada penurunan kualitas perairan. Tujuan dari kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat memberikan informasi tentang kondisi kualitas air sehingga adanya perubahan pola pikir dan tindakan masyarakat pembudidaya sehingga hasil produksi dapat meningkat. Kegiatan berlangsung pada kamis 22 Mei 2025 dari jam 10.00-12.00 WIT. Bertempat di Balai Desa Poka, peserta yang terlibat yaitu 49. Pemberian materi dengan metode presentasi selanjutnya dilakukan proses diskusi dalam bentuk focus group discussion (FGD). Hasil dari kegiatan yaitu tim memperkenalkan sebuah teknologi pada sistem pengontrolan kualitas air adalah sebuah alat Water Quality Monitoring System (WQMS). Penggunaan alat ini diharapkan akan sangat membantu dalam pemantauan kualitas air untuk masyarakat. Ada beberapa parameter yang diamati sebagai informasi yang dibagikan kepada masyarakat antara lain yaitu suhu, salinitas, pH, Do dan Nitrit. Hasil pengukuran parameter kualitas air Teluk Ambon Bagian Dalam menunjukkan bahwa nilai kualitas air berada pada kondisi yang ideal untuk kegiatan budidaya. Hal ini menjadi sumber informasi ilmiah kepada masyarakat untuk dapat membantu dalam proses pemeliharaan sampai produksi biota budidaya. Kesimpulan dari kegiatan ini masyarakat mengalami peningkatan pemahaman serta pengetahuan tentang nilai parameter kualitas air yang diukur secara berkala untuk budidaya.

Abstract

Penelitian ini menganalisis parameter hematologi kakap putih (Lates calcarifer) pada keramba jaring apung (KJA) di perairan Hila, Maluku Tengah, serta hubungannya dengan kualitas lingkungan. Hasil menunjukkan nilai hematologi ikan masih dalam kisaran fisiologis normal, namun bervariasi antar-KJA. Oksigen terlarut berhubungan positif dengan eritrosit dan hemoglobin, sedangkan amonia berhubungan negatif dengan hematokrit dan leukosit. Parameter hematologi terbukti menjadi indikator sensitif kesehatan ikan dan dasar perbaikan manajemen budidaya di KJA.

Abstract

To optimise the production of microalgae culture, manipulation of media culture composition is one of the efforts. This study aimed to compare the growth of microalgae Pavlova sp. and the environmental culture conditions between different media compositions. Pavlova sp. was cultured for nine days using three different media compositions: A, B, and C. Cell density was counted daily. The concentration of ammonia, nitrate, and phosphate, as well as total Vibrio and total bacteria, were measured during the culture period on the 3rd, 6th, and 9th day. The result showed that the highest cell density was found in C media (5,08 x 106 cells/ml) followed by B media (4,58 x 106 cells/ml) and A media (4,46 x 106 cells/ml), but statistically, there was not significantly different growth rate between those media (P=0.83 >0.05). Phosphate and nitrate concentrations decreased in all media, but ammonia increased. The total count of bacteria and Vibrio sp. on C media was lower than on A and B media. This finding indicated that the composition of C media was more suitable for the growth and culture environmental condition of Pavlova sp. culture at a semi-massal scale.

Abstract

The characteristics of water quality play a role in choosing the ideal site for seaweed farming. Additionally, by using the proper cultivation techniques and methodologies, seaweed cultivation activities might be effective. Seaweed farming is often thought of as a relatively easy endeavor that can be done in any body of water. But seaweed requires several requirements. The study of water conditions in Rutong country is important in determining the location and the method should be appropriate and usable. The purpose of the activity is to provide knowledge and skills to the community on how to measure water quality parameters then for the initial development of seaweed cultivation businesses can offer seaweed cultivation methods.  This activity was carried out for 1 month in May 2022 in the village of Rutong with the involvement of the start-up team. There were nine participants. Participatory active method. Communities are actively involved in observation, sampling and discussion. The result is that the salinity value of the surface water in Rutong only reaches 28 ppt on average. This is strongly suspected to be due to the supply of fresh water through the river. While temperature and brightness are suitable for aquaculture activities. The solution was to shift aquaculture activities more towards the sea. Water temperature can be supportive for seaweed cultivation in Rutong country because seaweed can live in water temperatures of 27-28℃. Aquaculture activities can use the floating method with a type of longline -raft combination so that it can float in the water column. The conclusion was that the community was actively involved and skilled in seawater sampling,  measuring water quality can determine cultivation methods and cooperate in the design of rearing containers.

Abstract

Kegiatan budidaya merupakan aspek yang penting dalam mendukung sektor perikanan dan membantu ekonomi masyarakat. Kegiatan budidaya adalah aktivitas memelihara organisme yang memiliki nilai ekonomis penting ada berbagai jenis produk unggulan Tujuannya adalah untuk memperkenalkan jenis-jenis komoditas ikan konsumsi yang dibudidayakan serta lokasi budidaya komoditas ikan konsumsi pada siswa sebagai generasi muda. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat berlangsung pada tanggal 17 Oktober 2023 pada siswa-siswi kelas 9 SMP Sitanala Learning Center Kota Ambon. Metode yang diberikan yaitu pemberian materi berupa presentasi. Hasil yang diperoleh bahwa tidak semua siswa yang mengikuti kegiatan memiliki pengetahuan awal tentang jenis-jenis komoditas ikan konsumsi yang dibudidaya dengan nilai sebesar (23,07%). Adapun beberapa komoditas ikan ekonomis penting yang di konsumsi pada air tawar, payau dan laut. Seperti ikan nila, lele, bandeng, kerapu, kakap. Setelah kegiatan dilaksanakan siswa telah memahami materi yang diberikan dengan mampu menjawab pertanyaan dimana nilai hasil tes kemampuan akhir sebesar (100%). Kesimpulan yang diperoleh Siswa mendapatkan pengetahuan tambahan, peningkatan pemahaman dan mampu menjelaskan kembali tentang komoditas ikan konsumsi yang dibudidayakan dan lokasi yang cocok untuk aktivitas budidaya.
