Abstract

This study aims to analyze the performance of the Bener Irrigation Network in Kejayan District, Pasuruan Regency, based on technical and non technical factors to support sustainable food security. The evaluation was conducted using a descriptive approach with a mixed quantitative and qualitative method, including field observations, channel condition measurements, and questionnaires distributed to 30 P3A farmer members and 5 irrigation management officers. Technical factors were assessed through the physical condition of primary and secondary channels, while non technical factors included community participation, maintenance budget availability, and institutional coordination. The results indicate that the primary channels have an average condition value of 78.88% (moderate category), while the secondary channels have an average of 70.08% (moderate category) with a higher level of damage. Non technical factors are the main challenge, characterized by low farmer participation, limited maintenance funding, and uneven water availability throughout the year. Questionnaire results revealed that although 100% of respondents acknowledge the existence of P3A and consider it active, only 49% believe the infrastructure functions sustainably, and most stated that irrigation water is not always available year round. Overall, the performance of the Bener Irrigation Network is considered fairly good but requires improvement through channel rehabilitation, institutional strengthening, and participatory management strategies to achieve sustainable irrigation performance.

Abstract

Flooding is a problem that often occurs in Indonesia, especially in Bangil-Pasuruan area, where every year always inundates several sub-districts there, 3 sub-districts are often submerged with a depth around 30-50 cm. The Bangil sub-district area is downstream in Kedunglarangan Watershed, where upstream in the Prigen sub-district. With these problems, appropriate mitigation is needed, an approach study in form of flow analysis is needed to provide appropriate handling. The rainfall discharge simulation method is an important tool in hydrology, one of the models used is using HEC-HMS software. Rainfall - discharge simulation in Kedunglarangan Watershed using HEC-HMS software using SCS Curve-Number method on runoff volume, SCS unit hydrograph on direct runoff. In analysis using modeling parameters such as initial abrasion, curve number, and time lag. This study aims to analyze the maximum discharge with a certain return period that can be used a reference in flood mitigation planning. In this study, the peak discharge was found at a 2-year return period of 75.9m3/s, a 5-year return period of 120.5m3/s, a 10-year return period of 154.7m3/s, a 20-year return period of 202.7m3/s, a 50-year return period of 241.6m3/s, and a 100-year return period of 282.7m3/s.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of the irrigation management system in the Wedoro Irrigation Area, Pandaan District, Pasuruan Regency, and to examine its impact on environmental sustainability. The research employed a descriptive quantitative approach through water discharge measurements, crop water requirement analysis, and cropping pattern simulations based on water balance. Results show that water distribution efficiency reached only 42.90%, while the network effectiveness was 87.63%, both below ideal standards. The cropping pattern simulation indicated that the Rice–Maize–Soybean combination was more adaptive to water availability and environmentally friendly. Low efficiency was mainly caused by leakage and sedimentation in the canals, which also led to groundwater exploitation and environmental degradation. Canal normalization and enhanced farmer participation in irrigation management are necessary. These findings highlight the importance of integrating irrigation management with environmental protection efforts to support sustainable agriculture.

Abstract

The Gembong River Basin (DAS) in Pasuruan Regency is an agricultural area heavily influenced by surface water availability. High rainfall fluctuations and limited natural reservoirs pose a risk of water deficit during the dry season. This study aims to analyze runoff discharge, reliable discharge, and water balance using the FJ Mock method based on monthly rainfall data, potential evapotranspiration, and watershed physical characteristics. The data used covers the period 2010–2024, which is processed to produce effective rainfall, monthly discharge, reliable discharge (Q80), and annual water balance. The calculation results show a maximum discharge of 5.83 m³/s in December and a minimum discharge of 0.76 m³/s in October. The average reliable discharge value of Q80 is only around 0.01–0.02 m³/s, indicating limited water supply during the dry season. The water balance shows a period of water surplus occurring in January–June, while a deficit occurs in July–December. These findings emphasize the need for integrated water resource management strategies, such as the construction of reservoirs and adjustments to cropping patterns based on reliable discharge to ensure the sustainability of irrigation.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kapasitas petani bawang merah dalam memanfaatkan teknologi Internet of Things (IoT) melalui aplikasi SMARTBULB (Smart Farming for Shallot Farmers) sebagai sistem pemantauan kondisi lahan bawang merah secara real-time. Sasaran kegiatan adalah GAPOKTAN Bhakti Manunggal Desa Dringu Kabupaten Probolinggo dengan jumlah peserta sebanyak 12 orang. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan meliputi: (1) sosialisasi konsep smart farming, (2) pelatihan penggunaan aplikasi SMARTBULB, (3) instalasi perangkat sensor dan pendampingan lapangan, serta (4) monitoring dan evaluasi hasil penerapan teknologi. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa petani mampu mengoperasikan aplikasi SMARTBULB dalam memantau kelembapan tanah dan mengatur pola irigasi secara lebih efisien. Selain itu, terjadi penghematan penggunaan air irigasi sebesar 15–25% serta peningkatan kesehatan tanaman yang ditunjukkan dari pertumbuhan umbi dan daun yang lebih seragam. Kegiatan ini memberikan dampak positif terhadap peningkatan pengetahuan, kemandirian teknologi, serta efektivitas budidaya bawang merah berbasis smart farming di tingkat komunitas petani.
