Abstract

Abstract The Pentateuch gives the fact that for the first time God's composite name is introduced and used in the Bible. One of the famous names of God is El-Shaddai where systematics experts always associate it with the power of God alone. The emergence of El-Shaddai in the Pentateuch provides the most significant theological message than any other part. This research seeks to explore that theological message. Using a topical approach to the Pentateuch text regarding the emergence of El-Shaddaí, several theological messages are produced: First, El-Shaddai is the One who is able to fulfill all His promises even though they seem impossible in the eyes of man (Gen. 17:1). Second, El-Shaddai is a source of blessing that will bless His people with good things (Gen. 28:3).  Third, El-Shaddai is the One who definitely fulfills all His promises. His name is the guarantee of the fulfillment of what has been promised (Gen. 58:3; Ex. 6:2). Fourth, El-Shaddai will arrange all good things for the good of His own people. (43:14). Lastly, El-Shaddai will continue to protect His people from curses and will turn them into blessings (Num. 24:4, 16). God's miraculous providence will apply to the people who are faithful to Him.

Abstract

The prolonged conflict between Israel and Palestine has made statements by countries on it. Muslim-majority countries tend to support Palestine. On the other hand, Christian-majority countries will support Israel. This research seeks to find answers about how the church should expect this conflict. By using qualitative literature study methods, a single conclusion was produced that the church should be neutral in this conflict. The church's primary calling is not to get involved in the political feud between Israel and Palestine. Four main reasons why the church should be neutral about this conflict. First, Contemporary Israel is different from Israel in the OT in that they still reject Jesus Christ as the Messiah to this day. Second, there are often misinterpretations of Genesis 12:3, especially in terms of sending or cursing Israel and the blessings that accompany it. Third, righteousness elevates the status of the nation, but sin is a stain on the nation. Defending Israel or Palestine does not make the church full of God's blessings. Fourth, God really loves the nations. just as God loves Israel, so He loves Palestine. Praying for Israeli-Palestinian peace is the right step in accordance with God's heart.

Abstract

Several members of the GKB Bahtera Hayat Semarang congregation felt injustice both in their families and at work because of their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. It is against this background that the Pastor initiated faith training activities for the local congregation. This faith training activity is entitled: remaining comfortable in the midst of injustice based on Psalm 7 which will be held on Sunday, 14 July 2024 at GKB Bahtera Hayat, Jl. Ketileng Asri VII/E.106 Semarang. In preparing this faith training, the service uses a literature study method to carry out an exposition of Psalm 7. Meanwhile, in carrying out the service, the service uses an interactive lecture method. The results of the exposition of psalm chapter 7 show three things about how God's people remain comfortable in injustice. First, continue to take refuge in the just God (vv. 2-11). Second, continue to hope in God's justice alone (vv. 12-17). And third, remain grateful for God's justice because His justice will definitely be revealed (v. 18). The results of this PkM evaluation show that the congregation is satisfied and very satisfied with the faith training material, presentation, and exposition results of Psalm 7.

Abstract

The Old Testament prophets had the primary task of returning the people to His Covenant. Throughout their ministry, these prophets often used the name Yahweh as God's covenant name to Israel. Interestingly, the books of the Major Prophets present the fact that the prophets also used the combined names of God El-Saddai and El-Elyon in their writings. What message is being conveyed in the use of these combined names of God? Using the study of Biblical Exegesis, it was concluded that the use of El-Shaddai taught Israel that God is still the greatest Person above all even though His human dwelling place, the Temple, has collapsed. The collapse of this building did not necessarily cause God to collapse as well. The use of El-Elyon in the major prophets provides important news that God is still the highest Person even though His people are being held captive in Babylon. The greatness of the Babylonian king is not comparable to the greatness of God who will later bring Israel out of Babylonian captivity. The use of these two combined names of God provides an important message for the people who are being held captive: God is still the great and high Person and is invincible by anything. For this reason, God's people must still place their trust only in God. The exile they experience is only temporary if they respond with faith. Belief in God must continue to grow when they experience oppression during exile. Keywords: El-Shaddai, El-Elyon, The Major Prophets

Abstract

The curriculum is a vital part of the implementation of Sunday school. The GBT Synod understands this so they plan to create a curriculum that can be used nationally. As a concrete step, the GBT Synod collaborated with STT KAO to produce Sunday school curriculum teaching for 7-year-old children. What is the right curriculum design for 7-year-old Sunday schoolchildren at the GBT Synod? By using this type of qualitative research, literature studies are obtained several important things to answer this question. Some aspects that need to be considered in making this curriculum include: the urgency of the curriculum itself, the characteristics of 7-year-old Sunday school children, and the spirituality of Sunday school children at the age of 7. As a result, several things can be mentioned in this curriculum. First, the curriculum is set in a span of one year. Second, the content in the curriculum must pay attention to the themes that have been the dogma of GBT. Third, the content of the curriculum must also pay attention to the ecclesiastical calendars. Finally, 7-year-old Sunday schoolchildren are equipped with the creation stories in the Bible as the basis for an introduction to Christian doctrine.Abstrak:Kurikulum menjadi bagian yang vital dalam penyelenggaraan sekolah minggu. Abstract

This study aims to fill the interpretive gap in the Book of Job by analysing the use of yD:êv (Saddai) in the dialogues and debates in the Book of Job, and how this name becomes a bridge between the concept of divine justice and the human experience of suffering. The research method is qualitative with a hermeneutic approach, where the author compares the Masoretic and Septuagint (LXX) texts, where the author analyses the dynamics of the use of yD:êv (Saddai) by various characters in the book of Job. The results show that the name yD:êv Saddai reflects God's infinite power and permits suffering as a form of discipline. The discussion highlights the dynamics of dialogue between Job and his friends, as well as the theological implications of suffering as a space to experience God's love. The conclusion of this study asserts that an understanding of Saddai can provide new insights into biblical theology and human spiritual experience.

Abstract

One of the important pieces of advice from the book of Proverbs is about how to manage anger. Uncontrolled anger often brings bad things to a person. The word anger itself appears 19 times in this book. Two main questions are asked in this study: how does Proverbs view anger? How to manage anger wisely in humans according to Proverbs? By using a topical approach in the Book of Proverbs, two main things are concluded. First, anger is the root of stupidity and the enemy of wisdom. Anger will always have a bad impact and destroy peace among fellow human beings. Second, Proverbs also provides wise advice in managing anger. A calm and careful attitude is needed when someone is dealing with anger. Managing anger is basically the same as managing good emotions. A patient and wise attitude can extinguish the anger of others. As a practical application, God's people today must really be able to manage anger because uncontrolled anger will only bring harm.
